Just thought you should know that there is no proven benefit to having less then 2500 mg of Maca...

I have read this, but is this for every day of the cycle or just from cd1 until O? Maca is SUPER hard for me to get out here, and it's in pill form (not the powder) so I'd like to try and conserve.

Jul511riv- Even mail order MAca? It's cheaper that way too, usually.

Woo hoo Shwarma, ANOTHER MACA SUCCESS :::

Jul- I think you could do that-- a heavy dose from cd1 until O and then lighten up a bit...

I really hope the maca helps me O stronger this time, since the earlier part is out the window.

I found it at nutsonline.com for $10.99/lb, but their shipping charge was pretty steep ($7.99 if I remember correctly). The site did have a lot of other yummy sounding organic stuff. I ordered the Navitas brand from Amazon and ordered something for my hubby as well and got free shipping...ordered Tuesday morning and waiting for it to arrive!

Can't wait to start!

Hey, Maca Mamas!
I'm new to this thread and haven't started taking maca yet.
We haven't officially started TTC yet (next cycle is in about a week and a half) and I'm thinking about taking maca but am not 100% sure of it's benefits.
Should I take maca?
Here's some info:
I'm 38 now, so age is a factor in my TTC success, I think.
I'm breastfeeding my toddler.
My period is a little off. It's always about 26 or 27 days, and last cycle was, for some reason, 25 days. I've been getting my period since DS was about 11 months old (he's almost 22 months now) and it's been like that since periods resumed.
Should I take maca? Will it affect my periods in any way?
Any advice would be great.

Thanks for the encouragement! I can't wait to see if it's as successful with me as it is with a lot of the other ladies on here! I am 26 and TTC #1...I'm a little worried because I have always had terrible, yet regular periods...since coming off BC, it seems all of the symptoms have been worse...still regular periods though...

Who knows? Just praying this is the month for me...

This is my second cycle on Maca and it almost has me scared. I typically O around day 13 or 14. With the maca, I O'd on day 10 last time completely missing my window since it was so unexpectedly soon. Also my LP was 16 instead of the normal 13/14.

This cycle I'm starting to BD on day 8 through O. Hope DH is ready!!

Me and DH both take 1tsp of maca in a half cup of OJ. He actually enjoys the taste. With the OJ you don't even have to get all the lumps out. I have the Navitas brand from Amazon.

I've only been taking it for two days now. I took it with a smoothie first (which made the smoothie taste pretty bad!) and then yesterday I took it with some water which was actually not as bad as the smoothie! Go figure!
Is 1 tbsp too much?
My DH is fairly confident that we'll get pregnant soon and don't need things like maca but I'm not so sure. I'm not young anymore and I'm nursing so I feel like I need the extra boost, y'know
My next cycle starts in about a week, so we'll see.

My DH was the same way. I didn't tell him I was consuming Maca for fertility (told him it was just for the sex drive boost ) because he would think I was being obsessive at TTC. Well...wasn't I?

I would watch out for supply issues though, if I were you. Some say it can affect supply, others say it's good for nursing.

GL Maca drinkers!!

This is random, but I wanted to let you all know that I am so happy with Maca- I honestly think it helped me O 5 days earlier then last month. I think it's helping my body learn to do it reproductive duties

i havent had any fertility issues that I know of. My cycle is regular and everything is normal. I am planning to start ttc in May. Should I take maca as a precaution or can it screw up what's already going on?

I have always had regular cycles about 26 days long, with O between CD 11 and 14. I conceived DS on cycle #4. After 6 unsuccessful cycles TTC #2, I started maca and got pregnant the first cycle I was on it. I ovulated at the same time and didn't notice anything different about the cycle--other than the positive pg test!

I was worried about that, too. I think we'll just BD as much as we can just in case.

I've never heard of it screwing up a cycle the way soy or vitex can.

Don't know about Maca making you O super early. It didn't really move mine. It did move up the O dates for some ladies on this thread, but not by a crazy amount, as I recall. My personal experience w/ soy is that, it can be used to induce O, but it shouldn't be used if you're already Oing regularly. I used it in Dec. and it made me O late (5 days), and screwed up my CM for that cycle. I don't have any experience w/ Vitex though, I've just read on MDC that it should be used conservatively, for those ladies with lack of ovulation or late ovulation...and that it can take several cycles to become effective. HTH!
