DH and I have been TTC for about 8 mos now - got pg on the 4th month with our first. DS is still nursing, but he's over 2.5 yrs now and AF came back at 6 mos exactly. Seems like all is right with my cycle - lots of signs/symptoms are there that are associated with O, and at the right time in the month. I'm not charting, since I don't sleep enough hrs in a row for temping (cosleeping, nursing, little one...), but I am keeping track and checking my cervix, etc. - my question is that could I have all these symptoms and signs and not be ovulating? I am getting worried that something is up...
Yes, your body can go through all the motions without actually producing an egg, but I would be surprised if it did it for 8 months. As far as I know, the only ways to confirm ovulation is by sustained temps. I have a cosleeping nursling, and temp, but I take it all with a grain of salt. I hope you are successful sooner than later.
There were a couple of months early on where I don't think I O'd - no fertile-looking CM, no sore nipples, no other "discomforts"... it was after that that I decided to start checking and tracking my cervix, and ever since then I've had all the usual signs/symptoms...
I ordered some OPK's, so maybe that will give me some insight...
It's hard, isn't it. I sit and think, maybe something's wrong, maybe it won't happen, is it the broken sleep/nursing 2yr old, is it something with dh... or is it just normal...
What do you mean not much luck with OPK's - are they not showing results, can you not tell whether you're O'ing? I've never used them before, so I'm curious and sort of skeptical...
Actually, you can have the same issues with OPKs as just checking cm/cp. You can have a positive OPK and still not ovulate.
Do you chart your cm/cp at all? I've found even tracking that on a chart is better than simply checking it every day. I can look back at patterns and so forth that I may not remember if I haven't written it down.
I think with OPKs you can still miss the ovulation. There were some pictures on POAS.com showing that unless you do check twice a day you can easily miss the peak time and not get a postive.
