Hi,
I'm been reading up on vitamins and realized that some multi vitamins are presumably made of better ingredients than others... been so ignorant. I just buy the cheapest cvs brand.

Anyway, I am looking for a good prenatal vitamin. Any recommendations?

Also, do you take a multi vitamin AND a prenatal or just the prenatal?

Thanks.

Just a prenatal vitamin. They have more folic acid than a regular multi vitamin. I take rainbow light prenatal sometimes but sometimes I use a powdered multi vitamin from All One that I put in my smoothies.

I think mine are made by "Nature Made" - not 100%, though. H picked them up for me. I was taking a B vitamin and a mutli vitamin, but stopped both of those and am just taking the prenatal right now.

I also take the Rainbow Light prenatals. My doc recommended them, and I like them because they are food-based to help with absorption and are independently tested to ensure the accuracy of their ingredients.

I also love new chapter. Not the cheapest, by any means, but look for sales and stock up!

I take New Chapter. I was taking Rainbow Light, my ND had me switch to New Chapter after the lead study came out. Apparently Rainbow Light has more than New Chapter.

I like them because they are smaller.

I don't really understand people saying that New chapter has lower in lead than Rainbow. Rainbow Prenatal One is higher (0.46/tbl)but you only take one. But New chapter (0.134/tbl)has to be taken 4 a day - So New chapter is higher in lead. Am I wrong?

I'm trying to decide between Rainbow and New Chapter. Any advice please? Thanks.

I was taking the cheapies but then my physician recommended me finding a high quality organic/vegan vitamin. I'm taking the Rainbow Light Prenatal One vitamin.

I also take Nordic Naturals Prenatal DHA.

Before I got a prescription vitamin, I was taking the Trader Joe's brand prenatal. It's apparently made by Rainbow Light. I think I paid $14 for a 90-day supply. I liked it a lot, except it was uncoated and tough to swallow. My prescription ones are coated and have omega-3s so I'm going to stick with them for now.

I'm taking Rainbow Light Complete this month and I like it, but I was taking Country Life Maxi Prenatal for years before and liked it. I may go back to it, since it has a lot less lead, although people have pointed out that the lead is in very tiny amounts in all of them. I need to do more research before I get my next bottle.

I also take fish oil, a B complex, and lots of Vitamin D. The Vitamin D isn't for TTC, but it's made a big difference for me in my overall health, I think.

I take Alive! multi vitamin and a folic acid supplement. I was taking Rainbow Light until the lead study. My TCM suggested new chapter but I haven't found it locally here and I like the Alive!

I LOVE Alive - but isn't there too much vitamin A in them? I was taking them, but switched to Rainbow Light because of the vitamin A issue. I'd love to keep taking though as I like them SOOOO much more than Rainbow Light!

So, I take Innate Trimester I and II, but I am also looking at Pure Encapsulations prenatal. These are both pricier, but are easily absorbable, and are made by really good companies. Pure Encapsulations has less lead, but it is also not a whole food vitamin (at least I think so). I really like Innate for now.

I love Rainbow Light. My nails and hair have been beautiful since starting it! My midwife recommends it exclusively as well.

Rainbow Light One a Day Prenatals are wonderful. I took them while pregnant and nursing, and was very happy with them. All of Rainbow Lights multivitamins are food-based, which helps the body better absorb them. They are a great quality, and I loved that I only had to take one per day of the prenatals. With the others I was taking, my naturopath told me to take 2 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon or evening, and I could never remember to take them later in the day. But Rainbow Light are great.
