Well, so far after taking maca for just 10 days (I'm taking somewhere between 3,000-4,000mg/day) I've noticed increased libido and more stable temps. I don't know if I can attribute it to maca, my chinese herbal formula, acupuncture or yoga for conception but apparently the combo is doing some good so I'm happy.

Thanks lauren! I think this is a bit of a grey area. When I spoke to my acupuncture therapist, who is chinese, she could understand why it was said that soya is not good for conception-especially since in china they consume lots.

The maca & soya combination, I iwll have to research_thanks for the advice, hun!

That is great! I feel so good taking it, like I am doing something really good for my body.

interesting that you mention the stable temps, woodlandfairy, as I was coming to post that my temps are ALL over the place! And I have not o'd yet and I am 1 day past last cycle. I am really consistent about taking my temperature this cycle too.

I am annoyed that I have not o'd yet.......... boo

of course, I don't know what to attribute to the maca.

Hi guys,

i mostly lurk here but I have been taking Maca for about 2 mo now. I take about 2500mg a day. I am still nursing my LO and haven't had PPAF yet. I didn't get one with my first till 21mo PP but he was a round the clock nurser and this baby goes sometimes about 7hours during the day and I am hoping AF will show in the next few months. I have been feeling some ovarian pain/ aching and have been having sore breasts on and off for weeks now. i have taken a O predictor every day since I started feeling my ovaries doing something but there is absolutley no line so that means no LH. I was then thinking today how the Maca comes from a yam and that means it's like natural progesterone so maybe the sore breasts are from that like after you O or when you are pregnant. oh, I have also taken a PG test and it is neg but my breasts feel like they did when I was pregnant with DS2. Do you think maybe I O'd and missed it with the O test and my body is producing progesterone? Or is the Maca causing the progesterone symptoms?

My maca libido finally kicked in, though I'm not sure if it's because I'm probably close to o'ing soon.
The maca is getting so hard to swallow these days and it makes me super gassy. UGH.

Is the libido worth it?

I started taking maca this cycle, so a bit over 2 weeks ago and have noticed a lot of changes this month. I use the powder form and at first had a very hard time getting 1 tsp down. I no longer really measure, but put a nice big, heaping spoon full in my morning smoothie every morning and it's so yummy. the first day i could taste the maca, now i'm so used to it and crave it every morning. I put 1 small banana, a mountainous, heaping spoon of maca, keifer (sometimes plain, strawberry or rasberry depending on what we have), frozen rasberries, strawberries and blueberries in the blender. I make enough to fill a regular kitchen drinking glass and that's my breakfast. it's filling and yummy and i'm never hungry until lunch, have good energy and know i'm getting plenty of maca in me w/out having to choke it down.

pixielou, maca can aggravate cold sores if you're prone to them.

Does anyone know where I can get not so expensive organic maca? I think I want to take pills because the raw powder is just nasty. I feel like I'm drinking a glass of vomit.

I think I asked before, but I can't remember what you all said.

Do you personally take maca after ovulation?

Lauren, you said you don't right?

I think I may have o'd yesterday and trying to decide if I want to keep taking the maca. I am taking today off just because I always take Sunday off from vitamins and supplements. But for tomorrow...

From what I have read it is safe to take maca even through pregnancy and Bfeeding. I would search it out for yourself though. I didn't take my maca after O last time and I lost my pregnancy, I plan to take it this time (not that I am saying that is the reason)

: I cut down after O or stop taking it simply bc its pricey and its not beneficial (supposedly) after O. Good luck! Why do you take sundays off from Vitamins, ellesmama??? Just out of curiosity

Well, crud. I took a dose of tincture today, intending to try maca this month, and I feel jittery and fidgety and dizzy and about to jump out of my skin. I hate feeling like this. I don't think the maca is for me. My husband is agreeing to take it this month, though, so we'll see how it affects him, but I think I'm not going to get to be in this group.

Argh.

Can you add me to this list please?

Name: GrapesBunch (Rachel)
What kind of Maca you are taking: Navitas Organic Powder (from Amazon)
How much Maca you take: 1 t. in a shot of OJ (for DH and me)
How has it changed your cycle so far? Today is CD1. I took it for 3 or 4 days last cycle but missed a few days. Since my temp jumped WAY high after taking it the first time, I decided to wait until the next cycle so not to mess up my Post-O temps. DH has agreed to take it with me every morning.

So thankful for my DH and beautiful DD (21 months TTC, now 4 months old)  TTC #2 while BF
I am one lucky lady!
