I thought I'd start a new thread,

If you would like to be added please BOLD this in your post :
Name:
What kind of Maca you are taking:
How much Maca you take:
How has it changed your cycle so far?

BelovedK: I am taking 1000mg 2x a day, it is encapsulated. I wonder if I should be taking more. I was thinking of bumping it up to 1500 2x a day. What do you think?

I LOVE maca, af symptoms are more comfortable (leading up to af) and my libido is crazy

It has changed my cycle for the better, less af symptoms, bleeding was heavier last month though.

What dosage is everyone taking? What form of Maca?

Trying to Conceive with Maca

Beloved

I think more is better...to where you feel comfortable gastro-wise. I never had any ill gastro effects, but some do. I'd try bumping it up to 3000 per day, or if you do the powder, I'd do a tsp.

I have been taking Maca for over a month now I think it is the solaray brand capsuls and I am taking about 2500mg a day. I am waiting for my first PPAF and have been having sore breasts and some O pains so I think I may get AF by the end of the month.

What kind of Maca you are taking: capsules, i dunno what brand
How much Maca you take: about 2500 mg a day
How has it changed your cycle so far? nothing yet really. a lot more ewcm, but i think that may be due to eating carrots. However, I am loving the energy it gives me, and I think it may have helped my mental health in general. Can't be sure though. I have been taking it for about a week, I think, maybe more.

I will start adding an extra cap in the am and pm. I guess that would equal 3000 mg a day.

How much Maca you take: 1 tsp/day, may bump it up to two because they suggest 1-2 a day for women
How has it changed your cycle so far? Nothing noticeable, but I've only been taking it since Friday and it definitely gives me more energy. I wish I'd tried it long before TTC, since I have weird thyroid/adrenal/pituitary issues.

That is exactly what I have (and just so you know, I called the company to make sure they test their product for lead and mercury and both were undetectable.) I take 2 tsp a day and just started today.

I don't need to be added to the list or anything...but I took a *gulp* TABLESPOON of powder both today and yesterday (gelatinized). I think I'm going to drop down to a teaspoon (MUCH more managable!) and try the hot chocolate trick if I ever go that high again. I was SURE I would "O" yesterday and then was sure it would be today so I took way higher dosages. Looks like I'm not so sure anymore...when or IF I will O. I sure hope I do, though.

ANyways, it's my first full cycle on it (last month I took 500mg/day for about a week or so).

Good luck ladies!

How has it changed your cycle so far?Yes- my cycle is longer

This is my first cycle with maca so I'm hoping for the best. I just got my period today. Up until this cycle since AF resumed following DS's birth, my cycles have been 26 or 27 days. This last cycle lasted 28 days. I was SHOCKED!
The stuff makes me very gassy, but I think my body's getting used to it.
I may be imagining it but it makes me really, really hungry.

Hi again

this thread has gone a bit quiet so thought I would bump it up.

Williamsmum, maca is doing the opposite for me-I don't feel hungry at all:. Feel like I'm having to force myself(bit of an exageration)no but seriously I don't fell hungry. Once I start eating I'm ok, though.

Still no ov also...:

So, does this mean you only take it pre-o? If so, why?

From what I understand, it is ok to take for the whole cycle, as well as after conception. Correct me if I'm wrong

I have another question...

have you guys experienced changes in your CM? I am on like my 5th day of EWCM and last cycle I only had 2 and just a little each day. Now there is a good amount and for 5 days. It is great, but I keep thinking I am going to o and I don't.

However, I am also doing the carrot thing. Eating several carrots everyday to help with cervical fluid. So, I don't know if this change is due to the carrots or the maca.

I had copious CM last cycle, I am not sure why, the maca was the only supplement I stayed on (took a break from all of the others)

I started taking it mid-O, and I had clear mucous for days. It drove me nuts, it just wouldn't stop!

Supposedly it takes weeks to build up in your system enough to do anything (or has anyone read something different about using maca), so I don't know if it was related or not.

Question,
So Ive been stalking the Maca threads and I just recieved mine (raw powder) today. I took some to see how bad the taste was and to my surprise it wasnt too bad mixed with water like a shot!
Anyways, my question is I am in the 2ww CD22 to be exact. Can I just start it today or should I wait till AF?
Thanks for all of your knowledge and input!

That is how I take it haha I would just wait to take it after unless she never comes I am not sure that it would be beneficial to take it now after O... It would not hurt, but I don't think it would help.

I got mine mid-cycle this month and took it for a couple days, then decided against taking it until the start of my next cycle. For no GOOD reason, really, but just because it seemed like the right thing to do.

The stuff I've read suggests to me that it helps more with the first half of your cycle, with ovulation especially, than it does the latter half...unless you know that you have low progesterone.

I'm going to start it in 3 weeks - can't wait! Thinking about gelatinized powder - it has to be organic. Can I get any better tasting recommendations?

I saved a lot of money by encapsulating a 1lb bag of powdered organic maca myself. I didn't even get one of those encapsulating machine thingies, I just packed them against the side of a bowl (with gloves on, and yes it did take a little while - about 30 minutes to do a jelly jar full). Easy, and way cheaper than buying the capsules pre-filled - and you don't have to worry about hiding the taste. I got vegetarian 00 capsules at my local health food store.
