I don't know the answer to your question - but I am curious to learn what maka root is supposed to do.

Also, JMHO, but I would avoid taking any kind of supplement while nursing - just to be on the safe side. But I tend to be a bit paranoid. It may be totally safe, but if you aren't 100% sure I'd personally avoid it.

I'm also nursing and thinking about ttc (haven't started yet). Just curious - have you gotten your PPAF yet? Thanks!

Mama and co-parent to our beautiful DS (08/08) and our mighty strong DD (04/10) . Life is good.

Maca is very safe, it's considered more of a starchy food then an herb, think like a sweet potato with a kick. I have no issues taking it while bf and have while nursing two different children. I've never used the pills but rather the powder, my dose then was 1 tablespoon a day.

There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way.

Maca's a root vegetable that people in the Andes have taken for thousands of years. It's perfectly safe for breastfeeding moms. I've been taking it (as a nursing mom) and haven't noticed any problems with DS.
I have the powder form and take about a teaspoon's worth.
