I am just curious... I bought an OPK this month but ran out of strips b4 a positive test. I saw it was darker at 14 dpo but still not a positive. I am guessing that I probably ovulate around day 16.

I dont want to have to buy an OPK every month, but I will if I have to.

For those of you who regularly use OPK or chart, do you usually ovulate at the same time every month? If so, how long are your cycles and which day do you ovulate?

I started testing day 10. But the first test was defective so that took up one of my tests and one day I tested twice...lol... an addiction to POAS!

I O between cd11-13 (according to my history of charting anyway) and then have between a 13-16 day LP. But some people's range can be much greater and you can even have annovulatory cycles thrown in there on occasion. Stress can delay O and other environmental factors or supplementing. I am not a fan of OPK's because it can't pinpoint O, only narrow it down to approx a 2 day window (and even then, you can have the LH surge, gearing up to O and then not O at all!). i think temping/charting is a greater resource and more accurate to get to know your cycles.
ETA: save your $$ and POAS urge for HPTs to obsess over! LOL

I can O anywhere from CD 14 through CD 30 - my cycle ranges from 28 days to the occasional 60 day cycle, "normal" is around 30-40 days. This cycle it was CD 24.

So, yes! The follicular phase of your cycle (the time before ovulation) can vary widely, that's the part that can be affected by stress or lifestyle changes, too.

I don't use OPKs much anymore, I just started using a fertility monitor (though they are expensive, and with my cycle lenth, well, this cycle I used almost 20 sticks) but I can typiclaly predict my O from my CM...I've had a few false leads on rare occasions. Once I thought I was going to O three different times and never did - 60 day annovulatory cycle, but that likely would have happened with OPKs too.

More frustratingly, I sometimes don't get a positive at all, or it hangs at almost positive for three days, which wears me out in anticipation.

Oh, one tip - get the really cheap OPKs online, you can get them for less than a dollar each.

I range between 14-17.
It might be worth charting for a month to get an idea, if you're not already. It might give you a place to start for using OPKs.

Mine can come as early as cycle day 11 or as late as cd 15. I always always have a 15 day LP, so whenever I have one of my "long" cycles, it is because of a later ovulation. Normal, but frustrating when you are trying to time things just right!!!

With DS1 I O'd on cd14 (an educated guess when looking back, no science to back it up). With DS2 I O'd on cd14. Since I started charting in March and started having ovulatory cycles again in June I O'd on cd14 every cycle except this one (AF is due tomorrow) in which I O'd on cd13. To be honest, I was quite surprised. Not sure why after all the "surprises" I've had with my cycles since charting. I suppose it's just never as "regular" as you thought when you start actually paying attention. At any rate, to my knowledge, I've never O'd any day except cd13 and 14. I also generally don't have cycles any longer than 28 days with the occasional 29 day here and there (and those may have been due to other factors and not otherwise "normal" for me - those two cycles I still O'd on cd14 as normal, I just had an extra day in my lp).
