I've searched and found some older threads but I wanted some current info

If you are/have taken Maca while TTC can you help me out?

1) Did you take Maca while BF?

2) How much and what form did/do you take?

3) What benefits did/do you notice?

4) What side effects (if any) did/do you notice?

5) How long did it take to see results?

6) This big one..Did you conceive while taking Maca??

Any and all other info is greatly appreciated. I am really sick of my long, irregular cycles and want to start taking Maca to (hopefully) help regulate me. I have a bottle of Vitex sitting here but I've heard Maca is better so I am trying to avoid the Vitex and go straight to the Maca.
TIA!!

If you are/have taken Maca while TTC can you help me out?

2) How much and what form did/do you take?
3 capsules at 500 each

3) What benefits did/do you notice?
Well, the first time I got to TTC after starting it (3 months after starting) i got pregnant... my 7th cycle actively TTC.
Plus it gave me energy and my EWCM was nicer.

4) What side effects (if any) did/do you notice?
Energy, better cm, got knocked up... isnt this basically the same as 3? lol

5) How long did it take to see results?
energy was quick... ewcm was a few weeks... pregnancy was 3 months but my DF was in Iraq for a lot of that.

6) This big one..Did you conceive while taking Maca??
See above lol

Remember, Maca is a food, not an herb. It helps to regulate hormone levels but does NOT put any artificial hormones or things that think they are hormones into your system. So it is safe for breastfeeding and pregnant women.

1) Did you take Maca while BF?

yup, i am currently taking it while BFing my 25 month old.

2) How much and what form did/do you take?

2000 mg in capsule form, 4 500-mg capsules a day

3) What benefits did/do you notice?

increased sex drive, more energy. other potential benefits, but i am taking it with vitex and am doing a lot of other things to try to help so it is hard to attribute it to the maca.

4) What side effects (if any) did/do you notice?

n/a

5) How long did it take to see results?

within the first cycle

6) This big one..Did you conceive while taking Maca??

no. not yet, anyway...

vitex and maca can be taken together, but maca alone will help if you aren't interested in vitex. but if you change your mind, you can take both. i do, and my cycles are at least looking better even if i haven't gotten pregnant yet. the increase in fertile CM is pretty sweet. my DH takes 2000 mg of maca a day as well and it helps his libido and energy a lot, plus it is supposed to help with sperm count and motility and such.

I conceived 2x while taking maca.

The best side effects were that my libido went through the roof (that regulated, but I still have a great libido) the cycles I didn't conceive I had no PMS symptoms (or very mild)

it is even desirable to take while pregnant, so you don't have to worry about making sure to stop after you O (read up on it, I don't have time to Google right now) it regulates hormones including progesterone, so it is very good when pregnant.

I <3 maca

Some important info on Maca-

Maca is a nourishing food for the endocrine system, aiding both the pituitary, adrenal, and thyroid glands (all involved in hormonal balance.) Maca has the ability to affect key hormones in both women and men without containing hormones itself.

Maca helps to stimulate and nourish the pituitary gland, acting as a tonic for the hormone system. When the pituitary gland functions optimally, the entire endocrine system becomes balanced, because the pituitary gland controls the hormone output of the other three glands.

Does anyone have any recommendations for good sites that list herb/supplement interactions/pregnancy information?

I am planning on starting Maca and a Folate supplement soon, but also want to go back to Glucosamine/Chondroitin and maybe Grape Seed Extract and Boswellia, but I want to make sure they can be taken together and while preggo (which I'm not yet, but hopefully will be before this time next year!)

Trying to learn/prep as much as I can in hopes of someday becoming a WAHM!

I've been taking Maca for about 2 wks now. So far the only thing I've noticed is more energy and a slight increase in sex drive both good things

Still waiting to see if it helps my cycles any. I'm on CD80 with no O or AF in site so I am hoping for some results soon

I am very infertile, or dh, but anyway it took me 2 years to get preggo with dd.  I only did after I started taking maca.  I got pregnant the next cycle.   I was taking it as a libido enhancer, and had no idea it was for fertility.  When  iwas trying to get pregnant again with ds, I read up on the maca, and git pregnant again on hthe next cycle,  It was 9 months of trying before I decided to ake the maca.  I used NOW brand and took 2 capsules perday.  Crazy thing is that it never helped with libido as I originally bought it for.

I read this thread a few weeks ago and ordered some maca. It came yesterday, so I have high hopes, even though I've taken various other supplements in the past and haven't ever noticed any effects at all. orngtongue.gif Oh well.

I just got some caps the other day, so we'll give it a shot this month.  I can't tell if the energy I've had the past few days have been due to the maca or the fact that sun has finally come out in these parts...

So I must be a freak- I love maca powder. I discovered it 8 years ago traveling in South America and have been putting it in my smoothies everyday since then. I've conceived pretty easily twice in the last 9 months, but mc both times. I'm 43, so I think the easy conception is noteworthy, however I don't know if it can be attributed to maca or the overall healthy lifestyle I lead. Since ttc I've added propolis supplements and added fresh bee pollen to my smoothies. I was already eating a lot of foods recommended for fertility simply because I eat a lot of super foods and keep a pretty strict healthy diet anyways.

I've seen it all over the place - I'm pretty sure any natural foods grocery store will have it.  Amazon does and that's where I got the capsules I've been taking.  I've even seen it at larger, more mainstream grocery stores (Wegman's).
