I talked to my SIL about starting to use a cup instead of tampons... and I just overheard her on the phone suggesting it to a friend of HERS!

Word of mouth is awesome.

No, you wouldn't get a clear thermal shift if you didn't O. I almost never see an Ovulation dip in my temps.

I told DP that maybe we should wait a few days and not DTD until day 13. Well that's only 5 days but that's a long time for him... we'll see if he manages it or not! Maybe that will bring his count up enough for success.

Finally pregnant with #1 and #2! Due September 9th, 2014

Ah, lapis. I often imagine what it would be like to be having this hard of a time the ttc #1, and the differences between having a hard time conceiving the firsts, versus subsequent children... I don't necessary think it is easier with the 2nd, but at least I know there aren't any MAJOR deal-breakers...

DH has been on it for four months now. I just made him take a bunch of other pills starting last week. Maca, Flax Oil, Vitamin D, a multi-vitamin... a few others that I can't even remember.

Congrats!

AFM - hoping that we can have good timing this month. DH is going to stay home on Monday (is usually gone all week), because our first RE appointment is that day. I think I may O that day, which is wonderful timing.

Mom to DS 12/07 and DD 11/13, plus a bunch of chickens, dogs, and cats.

Oh, collieflower, I have always wanted to do the West Coast Trail! DH did it months before we met... it sounds awesome. I can SEE Vancouver Island from several places in town, but it is not as easy to get there - long ferry rides and border crossings...

I can't speak for everyone, but I think the thing that is hardest for us TTC #1 is that we are not mommies at all yet. To be honest, I know I am kinda jealous of you guys who have children/a child already , even though you are struggling and having a hard time just like we are. It's interesting. We all have our own individual struggles. It's something I think we should talk about more.

I know what you mean! I have DP (not to mention me) taking so many supplements. He just takes what I give him, without complaint! Thankfully! You know, I started making smoothies for breakfast and putting flax seed in them - don't know if it was a coincidence but I think the flax gave me great EWCM!

AFM: Now I really am leaving for my appointment! Update later!

I think it's a good point (that those of you TTC #1 are jealous of those of us with kids already). I think about it all the time. I have friends who are unable to have kid number one and I imagine it's incredibly tough to stay positive and not be bitter. I know I am constantly bitter TTC #2. I find solace in my son every day.

Having one (or more) already does add an element of guilt and pressure to TTC, because I worry constantly about him being an only child, being lonely, upset with us for not providing him with a sibling, and having no extended family in his older age. But I'm still incredibly thankful.

So my temp dropped way below coverline today at 7dpo. I've never had an lp this short so I'm kind of hoping for a nice implantation dip. Add the cramps I've had today and it's going to be hard to talk myself out of testing in the morning, although I doubt I'll see anything more than 1 line. The Clomid gave me a nice textbook O at cd14 which is unheard of for me and now I'm just getting crazy waiting and looking at my chart 50 million times a day.

And DH keeps picking stupid little fights helping me discover how much more emotional I am right now than usual.

I know that Clomid can cause higher progesterone levels and false preggo symptoms which is what I keep repeating when I feel the hope creeping in. And now I'm going to take a nap.

Beloved, good to hear from you! Thanks for letting us know how you are doing! I hope things work out for you this month!

MahnaMahna, I think that temps can go up and down in an anovulatory cycle, but if they go up, and stay up for a prolonged period, I would think you ovulated. Now I have to go find your chart.

lapis, for you, girl! Hubby and I feel like we won't use birth control ever again until our family is complete, which may be sooner than we thought. Thanks for checking in on us: things went well today, great follies, great count, high hopes! Now the waiting game begins.

SimplyRochelle, I hope you're having an implantation dip!!!

jenger, wow, have an awesome time! Sounds like something we'd love to do!!!

Mae, that's awesome! I LOVE my Keeper cup!

millefleur, good luck! Let us know how it went!

Laggie, I was told that abstaining is actually counterproductive to sperm count, and that the best spacing is every 2 or 3 days. Did you hear otherwise? Good luck!

I think the first-timers vs. sibling TTCers debate is probably good to talk about, but simply because it proves that we each have our own story, and none is more or less difficult than any other. Shared suffering makes the load lighter. This journey is HARD, no matter what your situation is, I feel.

Laggie & Tear - ty for the responses! Another high temp today made FF move O 2 days closer, which would make a little more sense. I'll be interested to see if it moves again when (I'm sure) I get another high temp.

Mama to DS (12/11/07) and partner to DH (08/08). Expecting #2 late November 2011!

So my appointment was interesting. The doctor and I just had a chat. No exam, no blood work, no ultrasounds. He was great. He seemed very holistic, especially for an old guy! He was not in a rush at all, he carefully looked through all of my records and listened to me and took his time with me. He had a really interesting manner - he was really focused on how having a positive attitude brings positive outcomes, he told me to write down my goals and what I want and focus on it, and he really had a lot of great mind-body philosophies. So, overall, we gelled philosophically and I liked him!

The upshot (he suspects, and as I suspected) is that I am having progesterone issues that are causing not so great ovulations, and causing a luteal phase defect.

Sooo...I am going to have an endometrial biopsy next Wednesday. Ouch! Depending on the results of that, we will treat accordingly. If I am indeed having progesterone problems I will probably end up taking progesterone supplements. AND, to induce earlier ovulation, possibly Clomid, which I doubt Medicaid will pay for, so I'm going to have to see how much that costs. But I'm getting ahead of myself. We'll see what the biopsy says.

So that's the story! Thanks for all of your kind words and thoughts and support, lovies. You are the best.

I'm gonna come back and do personals in a bit...

I just wanted to delurk for a moment to let you guys know I'm reading everyday and rooting you on.
Re the TTC #1 vs any other number, I agree with Tear and all of you that each time your fertility and child making-ness is in question it's difficult. I know from talking with a lot of moms that the moment you realize that you might never have another (or biologically have one at all) is jarring and incredibly sad.
I have a friend who recently had her doctors tell her she might not survive a pregnancy (because of medical issues) and so I feel lucky to even have had a shot at the number of biological kids I want, to even be able to try at all.
I think that we'll be done TTC after #2, it's been such a long journey I think I'm going to leave the universe alone. I always wanted more though, and so that hurts to even think of giving up on that.

Hey ladies- just droppin' in to say hi and I've missed you guys- been busy office furniture shopping for the new place! But gonna try and catch up now.

Quick update: We are going in for our Final two hour IVF consult tomorrow! I'm done with all my "pre-requisites," have my financing (dude, I'm seriously financing a baby ) and I get 6 IVF cycles. We're going to discuss protocols and how many blastocysts they're going to transfer. It will be either one or two. I will freeze the rest, and if we want another baby later down the road an FET is MUCH cheapter. Shots begin in a week and a half I'm beyond psyched. Ok, gotta go catch up on you mamas and do some personals!!!

I think about this all the time Collie. I don't know what I'd do without my son, he really does help me get through it. But I think along the same lines as you do- I worry about him being an only child. What will he do when we're gone? I have 1 older brother and 2 older sisters, and we're a close family. I want him to have the same thing- cousins aren't the same. (Not to mention he asks me EVERY SINGLE DAY for a brother or sister, and then follows it up with, why is God taking so long?)

jenger and the ladies, i'd like to join please...

I have been lurking for months off and on (and off and on and on) while TTC after a VR. I'm in my tenth TTC cycle after the VR, we had to wait over six months before that to get the VR, and it feels like a very long journey already. Sometimes it seems so unlikely to happen, sad to wait so long, and I dearly want to experience it all again. I am not a patient person.

I hope I didn't miss you before your trip! I've been off the boards a long while, and I wanted to change my user name for forever and did that yesterday. I actually got on here to join this group today and then found you post to lurkers waiting there especially for me

I am on CD8 after a weird AF. Just started temping in May. DH has recently- happily- added some more supplements that may boost sperm health. Hoping for the best despite the fact that now that it is summer DH is working in intense heat and I fear for his wee sensitive swimmers...

Agreed! And well-said Tear, thanks.

And Mahna I never know where to find your chart. But I like your blog. I was stalking you the other day and found "7 things to say instead of Good Job" at a perfect time. Thanks. But I still want to stalk you.

millefleur - Great! Sounds like you might get answers soon!

Nanette! I'm so excited for your new office!!!
Sunscreen? Girlfriend, I live in Washington! I'll probably need a down coat... (Umm, I'm a little pessimistic, it has been a drizzly spring...) But seriously, I will bring sunscreen AND a (synthetic) down coat.

BelovedK~ Good luck trying NOT to obsess...I've never been any good at that!

millefleur~ So glad that your appt went good! The doctor sounds awesome!

SimplyRochelle~ I was totally going to say that your chart almost looks triphasic. I guess I didn't realize that clomid can possibly mimic preggo symptoms. I am still for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

jessica_s~ s Hi! I remember you! I just can't remember from where!

Nanette56~ Good luck at the consult!! Let us know how it goes!!!!!!!!!!!

AFM: My temp FINALLY went up today. If it didn't go up today I would have cried. It's bad enough my chart made me think I O'd early on like CD14! I seriously broke down for like 2 hours that we totally missed it this month! Good to know we didn't. We had lots of BDing...so I hope we caught the egg!! Now...onto the TWW!!

Everyone else...s! Thinking positive thoughts for you all!!!!

Absolutely. Well said. It is so nice that no matter what our situation is (and they are all sooo different) we can be here for each other and be honest about our feelings and what we are going through. There really are different issues whether TTC #1 or TTC a sibling, but they are all tough and we all support one another. Having this conversation (and input from you mamas) is important for me because it has helps me see that I needn't be jealous of those of you who have kiddos already. Your journey is just as hard as mine, just different.

AFM: Thanks again for your support everyone. And thanks for letting me know that Clomid is so cheap! What a relief! I have to admit I am soooo scared to get the endometrial biopsy!

Love to all!!!

MF: so glad your appointment went well...he sounds like a great doctor!

nanette: yes, good luck at your consult!

tear: for your six!

xtara: for you

littlest bird: welcome

for all the ladies.

and I have nothing to report. I feel utterly confused and have NO idea what is going on with my body at the moment. I'm either about to have AF in the next day to four days OR I wont. I feel nothing. at all. I wish I was having something to obsess over... apart from not having anything to obsess over.
