In the spirit of gentleness and good baby-making for all... Where is this info from? I kinda think it's not great info, honestly. First of all, how on earth are you going to tell when you're 12 hours post O? As opposed to 6 or 18 or 24 or 30? Temping isn't that precise, neither are OPKs (I don't think?). Secondly, 12 hours is generally considered on the high side of average egg life (unless you're CTA). I think it would be fairly rare for sperm to reach the egg when you DTD after O. Thirdly, I don't think there is any evidence that DTD after O selects for girls, even if it were to get you pregnant.

So in conclusion, get BDing.

Edit: I just found a site with the instructions for the O+12 method, and ok, if you have sex the morning of the temp rise, pregnancy is more likely. It is still a lot less likely than if you DTD before O. So it might be fun to try, but probably not for someone who is having trouble conceiving or wants to conceive right away...if you're good with possibly wasting a cycle for the possibility, based solely on anecdotal evidence, of conceiving a girl, then cool (and I mean that sincerely, we all know I love experimenting), more power to ya, and please keep us posted on the results of this method!

Can I be moved to waiting to know? I'm assuming another day of high temps tomorrow to confirm, but the temp jump was big, and all the other signs are lining up nicely so far. I'm 2dpo, and I'm so, so ready for some good news this month....

well I actually have internet now so am looking forward to being here on a regular basis...DP was okay with a CD 11 contribution this month. It is not even a secret that I want an oops. He knows full well! SO, since I am not charting or checking anything and only going off of EWCM that was there and O pains...I can only kind of say I am 6 dpo. We will see....

Hmm, not only that, but it seems to go against the idea (that I believe is experimentally tested) that Y sperm are faster and less resilient, X sperm are slower and more resilient. It should be the opposite, BD very close to or after O would favour a boy, a la Shettles method.

I'm sorry. I really wasn't trying to be a downer. I just think it's important to have accurate info out there. I wouldn't want a whole bunch of women aiming for DTD after O on purpose, intending to conceive a girl, and then wonder why they weren't getting pregnant, yk? I just think people should have the correct info - O typically happens before a temp rise, so if you're going to aim for after the temp rise, you should know that, while it may increase your relative chance of a girl, who knows, it will decrease your overall chance of getting pregnant.

Somebody had to say it.

IIRC, the Shettles method was tested, but there have been other tests done more recently that discredit/contradict it. So who knows.

Small temp jump for me this morning http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/MyFFChart - it was kind of a kooky morning though, bc DS woke me up at 5:30 (1/2 hour before normal temp time), then went back to sleep, so I went back to sleep (kinda) for another 1/2 hour. I temped at 5:30 (97.65) and 6:00 (97.77) so I just threw the temp in at 97.7. We'll see how tomorrow's temp looks. I got a -opk last night when I tested, so am guessing I caught the beginning and end of a surge.

Mentioned BDing to DH last night but he kind of laughed it off...then said something to me this morning about DTD tonight. I think he might have the EOD "rule" stuck in his head, and I didn't want to put any pressure on him. So, hopefully either Monday was good enough, or I O today and we can catch the eggie tonight

SML -- I'm so sorry.

AFM: I *think* I might be 1DPO but am not sure since I didn't get the normal signs I get EVERY.SINGLE.MONTH for O... There has been little to no EWCM, very mild O pains but my cervix is closing and getting more firm, although still high. We have been BDing like monkeys around here and I'm worried that if I didn't O, DH is getting a little tired of BDing every night and might want to skip a night tonight... so I'm really hoping I am 1DPO. I'm kicking myself all over the place for not temping or at least using OPKs. I have a no-temp chart here - http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/ee041 It also has my pregnancy chart from my DD in case anyone is curious on that one. It was a negative before positive, triphasic chart so it's kind of a nice chart to obsess over, lol. Anyway, I'm going to wait another 2-3 days before I officially move to the 2WW just to make sure I did O. Ugh, I didn't think my obsession would kick in on the first month ... I was wrong.

For the past 6 months when AF comes, there is brown for 3-5 days before the red comes. So when do I start? The beginning of the brown or red?

I think my O times has come and gone. We BD at least every second day so I am sure we did it at O time. Just not sure if it worked.

I have been having cramping for a couple of days now and my CM has been the same for at least a wk. Not tonnes and watery. I had a bit of creamy for a day or two and that was it.

Next month (if there is one ) I am going to check more. I might even get an OPK (is that what it is called? ) just so I can join in more with DPO and stuff like that. I could have O'd a while ago or I may still. I sure wish I knew!

SML, I am so sorry. I really hope you get your sticky baby soon.

AFM, my temp was down a little this morning, but FF still gave me cross hairs. So I am officially 3DPO and please move me to Waiting to Know.

Seems like a lot of ladies are cycling together this month. Hopefully there will be all kinds of BFPs!!

So I *think* I am 2dpo, but not really sure. Again! Temps are kinda low for post O for me, but are higher than the lows. And to have 2 or more 97's before the 98's in the 2ww is a pattern I don't usually have. As if that weren't enough, the last two temps were a good half hour after my usual temp time. However, a few days ago I temped half hour later too but it was 97.3, right in line with the lows... So who knows?

Once again, I'm guessing on a chart. Clarity please!

well you were, and i have to say...a little rude. i was trying to give her a little "pick me up" when she had said she was feeling like she missed her chance.

and here is the link you refereed to about the "disproving shettles" most of the shettles is false information, (we agree there, i believe, that there can be a lot of that on boredes like this ) but some information is still valid. (ie: the X v. Y sperm swim in different patterns, strait or spirally, but at the same speed, so the CM plays the roll of 'girl sperm can swim faster after o when the CM dries up' ect...)
http://www.in-gender.com/cs/forums/t/138682.aspx

also, that whole site has great info. i didnt have time to respond to your original 'inquiry' or 'opposition' or whatever.

im sorry that you didn't previously know the information i was providing, and im sorry you took is as 'misinformation'. just be cause we dont know something, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. ill make sure to provide a link next time so there is no confusion on my opinion, and researched information. i myself hate it when people do that, so ill make sure i provide.

I am a HUGE researcher...but all research is skewed in one way or another. Whether it's the person/group funding the research, WEIRD samplings (Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, and Democratic), or a MILLION other factors, research provides us with a good basis, but isn't the be all and end all. While I certainly wouldn't condone giving out misinformation, a little bit of questionable information (especially when it is prefaced as such) won't likely hurt anyone.

Getting off my

We are all here because we are going through something similar, and something very personal. Things are going to get personal, and feelings are going to get hurt. But let's try to keep it to a minimum. We are going through enough!!!
