Hey all. A quick question... I just had a bfp very light for two days followed by a bfn. And then af. Does breastfeeding interfere w pregnancy once it's already established? Or was this one just not meant to be? Is did my bf interfere w the outcome of the pg?

Cillian- I'm so sorry to hear that. I had a very similar situation in my first pregnancy (so obviously I wasn't bf). I am no expert but everything I've read has said bf-ing can interfere with implantation (because you might not have built up a good deep uterine lining? or your luteal phase is too short) but once there is implantation it shouldn't hurt anything. It was probably just not meant to be. I conceived again very quickly after that early loss with my dd so hopefully you will, too.

SoCaliMommy! Yay! Your little bean beating away in there! (PS is it weird that I've been stalking this thread all day)?

Cillian, I agree with the others that if bfing is going to affect anything negatively, it will cause you not to implant due to the lining being too thin or LP being too short. Once baby has implanted, it shouldn't harm anything. Sorry for your loss.

Hi ladies -

Congrats to Kami! That is such good news! Im hoping this one sticks sticks sticks!!!!

Also congrats to all the other BFP's :)

I have been away on vacation and lurking since I got back. Ive been trying to not really worry about TTC and just going with the flow of things. After my miscarriage in December, I am kind of cautious yk? Anyway AF was due right in the middle of my vacation - and yet she never came. I got AF at 34 days last month (my first post miscarriage cycle and was NOT trying) so thought nothing of it. 34 days would have been after I got back from my vacation. I arrived home Saturday 3/12. I asked DH if I should take a test. He said "why bother - you'll know eventually one way or the other" (nice!)

By Wednesday I couldn't wait - I had to know. BFP!!

Confirmed by a blood test Friday. I have not been to my doc yet. My friend is a chiropractor so he ordered the test for me.

Im happy, but really don't want to get too excited....I guess I would say Im cautiously optimistic. I know other ladies here have had miscarriages (some multiple) how do you manage the uncertainly when you get that next BFP?? I want to have a positive outlook and attitude, but on the other hand, i don't want to join a DDC and all that because part of brain tells me that a m/c could happen again. Id love to know how any ladies who have been there done that manage!!!

Marinca- Congrats.. I'm praying for a sticky bean!! I can't imagine having to go through a m/c. We had some very scary times with my pg with DS, so I understand the heartache and wanting to be cautious.

Congrats to Kami and Marnica!!

Also congrats to all the other BFP's!

I am a lurker but wanted to come out and say I finally got my BFP too! I am 4 weeks and got my BFP at 10 dpo. My 33 month DS old nurses at least 4 x day (some are 30 min sessions!) I got my first PPAF in Jan and 2 cycles later I got my BFP! I thought I might have to wean but it worked out without weaning. I hope to tandem.

I hope all of you get your BFP's soon.

Congrats Marnica!!  I can understand ur cautious optimism.....I think after even 1 m/c, it makes it harder to celebrate openly until later in the pg confused.gif.  I hope everything works well for you!

Hi Everyone! Congratulations to all you BFPs!  I started temping this month and according to FF I Od on Sunday, so I am 3 DPO.  We DTD Sat, Sun and yesterday, so I think we may have gotten the timing right.  I am not going to test until I am a week late for my period, I wasted way too many tests last month!

Congrats, Marnica! joy.gif I had 2 m/c before getting pregnant with DD and I found acupuncture really helped keep me calm and more balanced. I was treated by a doc who specializes in women's fertility and general health. I was still scared until quite far into my pregnancy but I really worked at relaxing and enjoying it. I knew there was nothing I could do even if I had another m/c and that actually helped. I hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months!!

And congrats to you as well, EonJourney!! joy.gifGreat news that you didn't have to wean!

Afm: I'm on CD20 of my second pp cycle. I finally have a good amount of ewcm today but I still haven't seen a positive opk. My last cycle was 34 days but I didn't O until CD25 so a very short lp. I hope that doesn't happen this time! We aren't actually planning on trying until after I track another cycle after this one. I want to make sure I'm O'ing and that my lp is long enough so we don't waste any tries with our donor. I got a CBFM so I'll try that next month too. DD is still nursing up a storm over here!

Hi, all!  I posted this in FERTILITY, but didn't get any responses:

I am TTC #2 while breastfeeding my 2-year-old, on Demand -probably about 10x per day.  I have had AF since she was only 13 weeks old (irked.gif), even though she was exclusively breastfed and was never given solids until 6 months, nor water until 15+ months, and never any other milk.  We haven't used protection since then, so it worries me that maybe I'm having AF without ovulating?

A little background:  We actively did TTC with #1 for 9 months before getting pregnant.  My cycles back then averaged about 32 days.  They ranged anywhere from 28 to 35ish days or so.  I used BBT, OPKs, and charting CP & CM.  I stopped doing BBT & OPKs after about 5 months, though, because I got really frustrated/depressed, and thought I wouldn't be able to get pregnant.  I didn't even TEST at all for the next four months until I finally got pregnant in that 9th month.

I have periodically checked my CP & CM throughout cycles over the last year-and-a-half or so.  I have had EWCM at times, which I know is a sign of ovulation, but sometimes it seemed to last a few days, though, or happen more than once in a cycle.  Do you think maybe I have low progesterone or something?  My cycles have averaged 35 days for the last year or so, ranging from 28 to 40+ days sometimes.  So it is really difficult to even "guess" when my fertile time might be *if* I'm ovulating at all.

I am not fond of the idea of weaning DD.  Really don't want to lose that bond, nor the benefits for either of us.  Especially since she is a Boobie Monster.fly-by-nursing1.gifBut it is pretty inevitable now that our first two kids will be at least 3 years apart (today is DD's 2nd birthday).  I really don't want them to be much farther apart than that, because I want them to be more likely to be close and have a lot in common.  Not that age difference guarantees anything, but I guess it makes it more likely?  I might be open to trying to distract her more during the day from Boobie, but I know that she would find night weaning of any amount to be traumatizing.  She nurses to sleep & for naps, and nurses 2-3 more times at night before getting up in the morning.  She also nurses several times per day.  I'm considering maybe doing the don't offer/don't refuse thing, because at this point I offer it to her a lot (mostly when she's fussy), but I guess it wouldn't hurt to try other ways of soothing her unless she *asks*/grabs for the Boobie?

Any advice/experience?

Jessica  I think you should start charting again, so you can be sure of whether or not you are ovulating.  As for your nurser, I started 'don't offer, don't refuse' about when DS turned 2; he used to nurse to bed, to nap and frequently throughout the day/night.  Now, at 3, he only nurses to bed; sometimes he asks mid-day (when he used to take his nap, which he dropped at 2.5), but I tell him he can only have booby if we lay down in his bed.

2 years is also when we started encouraging him to sleep in his own bed.  I would lay down to nurse him to sleep in his own room and return to lay down with him whenever he cried for me, leaving once he fell asleep...eventually he started staying a sleep for longer periods of time.  Now, he goes down at about 8pm and comes in to our bed on his own at about 6am and sleeps for another hour or more (I get up at 7am, so sometimes he gets up with me and sometimes he sleeps through to 8 or 9)

HTH & GL!

Just ovulated yesterday. So my luteal phase is now 5 days. Stupendous. :(

I suppose I should be moved to 2ww, even though it is really only a 4 day wait.

I have gone from 8 to 7 to 5 day LP over the past 3 months! So frustrating...

finsmom - that sounds so frustrating. My period still hasn't returned at 26 months pp, but I have started taking vitex (chasteberry) to help it along. We'll see if it works! I hear that it also helps extend the LP. Maybe it could help you...

Please move me to waiting to O.
I am on cycle day 5 now.

We only have three more months to TTC. Then we need to wait until 2012.
We'll see what God has planned for our family! joy.gif

finsmom- that sounds extremely frustrating. I'm was wondering how you know that your LP is only going to be five days? Do your cycle not vary in length and your LP changes depending on when you O? I'm hoping for you it surprises you and gets a little longer instead of shorter.

AFM: I've been pretty quiet, but I've been charting waiting for O, I just got a positive OPK so, I'm hoping to see a temp shift in the next couple of days. Just trying to get some good BD in before O. I'm really hoping that night weaning DS did the trick to allow me to get pregnant. I'm seeing way more fertile CF than I have since before he was born. Either way I know I'm going to be extremely disappointed if this isn't my month. I know 8-9 month TTC isn't a long time, I just feel like I've put a lot of effort into improving my chances, so why shouldn't this be the month? I'll check back in when I'm ready to move to the TWW.

AimeeBaby: I've been on Vitex for the past 3 months and it has shortened my LP! Lol! I think I may try au naturel next month and see if I can get back to where I started. Vitex did help lengthen my LP for my first, however now that I am nursing it seems to be having the opposite effect! Let me know how it works for you! :)

MamatoD: That's exactly what happens! I am 28 days every single month, on. the. dot. Nursing apparently has caused ovulation to be delayed from my usual day 15 (which it was like clockwork when I was ttc #1) to whatever the heck it wants now! This month I didn't ovulate until day 23!! And AF will most likely be paying her standard visit on day 28. Boo. Miracles can happen though, maybe she'll forget where I live this month! :)
