i had a positive opk a week ago on cd 16. i kept taking them about every other day and they gradually got lighter and lighter until today cd 23 when i got ANOTHER positive opk. im do for my period on october 5th. how could i get two positives a week apart?
Your body could have geared up to O last week, didn't actually get there, then your body decided to give it another go this week. You'll know a lot more once you know when your period comes...whether it comes according to timing of the first or second positive OPK.
All I know is, it doesn't hurt to start BDing again, now! Good luck. :)
What the pp said is a likely possibility. Did you have fertile cervical fluid- creamy or eggwhite in consistency- around either of the OPK+'s?
But OPK's are also not the most reliable tests for a lot of women. Many see positives for days on end, never see positives at all, and some get random positives well after ovulation (which could be you!). I don't put much stock in OPK's in general for this reason. OPK's can act as pregnancy tests, but only well after the point at which an HPT would turn up positive anyway, so not likely around 7-9 DPO.
Have you considered charting your basal body temp and cervical fluid to better pinpoint O?
