Okay...just to warn you, this may be TMI.

In January I miscarried (at 6 weeks), and 8 weeks went by and I didn't get my period, so I called my doctor and she gave me Provera. I took that for 10 days and I started my induced period last Monday, March 12. On Saturday, Sunday, Monday (of this past week) I had quite a bit of discharge, but it was more liquidy than creamy and it was brown in color. I assumed it was remnants from the period.

This is the first month that I am charting and using Fertility Friend. I noticed on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday that my temperature had jumped a little bit, and then this morning it was still high. I use the Fertility Friend app on my phone, so it does all the lines for you. Well, after I put today's temperature in, it said that I ovulated on Monday...which was DAY 8 of my cycle!!! Is that even possible?! Should I trust my chart?

I started using OPKs on Wednesday (yesterday) and of course it was negative (as well as this morning's.) I am just SO confused. Did I ovulate on Monday?  If so, I feel pretty discouraged, because I wasn't expecting to until at least day 12 or so (and that would even be considered early.) I was planning on using OPKs starting on day 10. We did BD on Sunday (just for fun :) ) so if I did randomly ovulate early on Monday, I guess it's possible that we would have randomly caught it, but I'm just so confused. My cycles are usually long, so I'm assuming I'm a late ovulator. I know I just took the Provera and maybe that really kicked my body in gear.

Oh! Also, I had two drinks with dinner on Saturday and then one last night with dinner. I think I've read that that can affect temperatures...so I'm not sure. ALSO, all this week, I've had bouts of insomnia.  The past three days I've been waking up anywhere from 2:30-4:00a.m. and never fell back asleep (just toss and turned) so when I took my temp in the morning, I wouldn't have had 3 hours of sleep. Thus, part of me is thinking, well it THINKS I've ovulated because of the temps, but I really haven't. I'm SO confused.

Thoughts?

Can anyone shine some light on this?

I'm sorry about your miscarriage.  I would say that it is possible to O on day 8.  Fertility Friend could be wrong, of course, and insomnia does affect your temps.  But I think that the cycle after a miscarriage can be a little funky, like your body is resetting itself. It might be totally fine and your next cycle may look more like a "normal" one for you.  Are you tracking your cervical mucus?  It is usually stretchy before you O.

Good luck!

I would keep on using the OPKs in addition to temping. Personally my hormones rise pretty high right after AF is finished, I actually get a few really dark OPKs during that time (I took pics of all of them in my "OPK Progression" thread). I finally got a "true positive" 1-2 weeks later and confirmed that as the actual ovulation date because I had A TON of EWCM the day after the second positive.

If you can confirm O with correct temping (before you get out of bed at the same time everyday) and EWCM, they you may have a shorter cycle this month because it takes all the hormones awhile to balance out.

Thanks for responding, ladies. To be honest, I've never really gotten a lot of stretchy CM, so I'm not sure if that will help me in this case. I'm going to keep using OPKs and temping and just see what happens. Since this is my first cycle since my miscarriage, I don't really know what to expect.

That's why some ladies check CP, to check their CM.
