Hi, again.  Long story as short as possible, I got PG on my first cycle of TTC, missed m/c around 6 weeks, detected at 8-9 weeks, passed naturally around 10-11 weeks.  I TTC again before my next AF-- I am currently at 12 DPO with only BFN.  My LPs have been short, so I had my progesterone tested at "CD21" (really 7DPO).

I got my results and it was 9.5.  According to articles like this...

...it seems that's not exactly incredibly helpful information on its own, so I'm not sure I've gotten any "new" info except what I sorta suspected...  That is, that my LP/progesterone is borderline-low at best.  Borderline if "they" like to see it above 10, unmedicated, and low if "they" like to see it above 15.  My MW is consulting with an OB and will get back to me tomorrow with recs, but he's not an RE, and I'm not sure he entirely knows what he's talking about (he wanted me tested at 5 wks pregnant-- CD35-- when all I've ever read has been CD21).  Or maybe something was lost in translation, as I've never spoken directly to him.

So, if you have any experience with this....

1) Where does a "CD21" (actually tested at 7 DPO) level of 9.5 put me, loosely, in terms of maybe needing a progesterone supplement?

2) How likely is it that my "low/borderline" levels are semi-temporary and possibly resolving themselves?  I went off BCP in November, and my LPs have steadily increased from about 6 days in December (only 3 if you count the end when there's spotting) all the way to this month, where I went at least* 11 days and an almost-respectful 8.5 days before spotting.  (The cycle where I got pregnant, I had spotting after 5 days-- 6dpo, 7 dpo, 9 dpo, 12 dpo (when I got my BFP) and 13 dpo-- and no more spotting until around the time of fetal demise.)

3) *This cycle, I had a bit of spotting on 9 dpo, 10 dpo and 11 dpo, then around midnight last night (11/12 dpo) thought I was getting a light flow and filled up maybe one regular absorbency tampon overnight.  I POAS for several days, including this morning, all BFN.  But since I woke up, I have had no bleeding at all-- not even a bit of spotting-- and it's 5 pm.  This never happens to me, so though I don't want to hold out too much hope...  I guess I'm wondering if I didn't actually start AF, and could still get a BFP?  I'm also concerned because if I am PG, then all this spotting and a possibly "borderline/low" progesterone level could be an issue.

Any thoughts appreciated!!

You were right to test at 7DPO.  CD21 is not always 7DPO, and it's best to test about that amount of time after you O.  9.5 is considered low.  The spotting you have before a flow starts is also symptomatic of low progesterone.  Days when you are spotting are still part of your LP.  The follicular phase doesn't start until the first day of flow, not spotting.  So you should count those days.  Yes, the levels could increase in future months as seems to be happening already.  To get a better picture of the progesterone, some people will take several tests, 3 tests, one every other day.  You should also keep in mind that some people have spotting at the time of implantation.  Good Luck!
