Can you add me to the 2ww? My cycle is irregular and I'm not charting, so not sure when I ovulated. I'm expecting AF somewhere between June 23-June 30. I'm going to try to wait to test until June 30th if AF doesn't show up. Good luck and baby dust to everyone!

Thanks so much maydaymom! I know that you're going to do a fantastic job :) And thank you to everyone else for being so understanding while I handed everything over - I'll still be hanging around and checking in as much as I can!

It's CD26 here for me and no sign of O yet which is really weird, definitely the latest I've ever gone without ovulating while I've been charting. I feel like all I'm ever doing is waiting!

Hey, I can be moved to 2WW! I thought I had missed my O but then Friday evening I had a bm and holy EWCM! Had it for a total of 1.5 days and now back to sticky creamy. Anyway, I'm at 2DPO.

Can you add me to Waiting to Know?

The first time I got pregnant (five years ago) was a TOTAL surprise, and now that we are ready for #2, I have no idea how to actually get pregnant: What day should we try? How do I know when I'm ovulating? Eeeek!!!!

Sidenote: I've been off BC since Jan/Feb and taken several negative pregnancy tests. bawling.gif

I'm hoping to get some tips for you other TTC ladies.

Hi. How long are your cycles? If your cycles are regular you can count 16 days backwards from the first day of your period and 10 days backward from the first day of your period and that range is when you ovulated. ie: if you have a 28 day cycle then ovulate (probably) between day 12 and 18 of your cycle. If you have a 32 day cycle then you ovulate between day 16 and 22 of your cycle.

Sometimes women will ovulate during their AF and sometimes you will have a cycle where you don't ovulate but usually the above is true. Also, you may have some spotting and/or cramping in the middle of your cycle and that is a pretty good indication that you are ovulating or about to ovulate. The spotting is from the follicle rupturing and releasing the egg. Ummm....what else? Your cervical mucus (CM) can help you know when to have sex. Right after your period you will be dry (no CM), then it will go creamy white-to-off-white-opaque, then sticky-stretchy, then it will go to what is called egg white cervical mucus (EWCM). The is the most fertile mucus. It is the best mucus to help the sperm travel up into you uterus. After that it will go back to sticky, creamy, dry, AF (period).

I would think that if your cycles aren't regulated yet they should be in the next 2 months. It's actually best to not get pregnant right off of birth control (like within the first cycle) because there is an increased risk of miscarriage because of leftover hormones from the birth control. If you are having trouble regulating your cycles there are herbal supplements you can take: raspberry leaf tea (RRLT) - comes in tea form or capsules or tincture/herbal extract, vitamin B6 - lengthens the second half of your cycle, and Vitex Angus Castus/Chaste Tree/Chaste Berry - It has a few names but it is really good at cycle regulation ( I am taking right now to regulate my cycle).

The only other thing I can think to tell you is that the time in your cycle between the first day of your period until the day you ovulate is called your follicular phase (FP) where the egg is maturing and getting ready to be released, and the day after you ovulate until the day before your period starts is called your luteal phase (LP) where your progesterone and uterine lining is building up (I think?) and it needs to be atleast 10 days (I think?) for you to be able to sustain a pregnancy.

Sorry, that was probably waaaay too much info! haha. Good Luck!

Edited to add abbreviations:

O= ovulate

LP=luteal phase

BD= baby dance or having sex

DTD=do the deed

GL=Good Luck

DH=Darling Husband

DP=Darling Partner

mc or m/c= miscarriage

AF= Aunt Flo or your period

EWCM=eggwhite cervical mucous

CP=Cervical position

OPK= ovulation predictor kit

HPT= home pregnancy test

BFN= big fat negative (on an HPT)

BFP= big fat positive (on an HPT)

Just another abbreviation for lilgreenmama:

POAS - pee on a stick

DS - Darling/Dear Son

DD - Darling/Dear Daughter

AFM - I'm at DPO 7. Kinda snuck up on me, which is nice not to be obsessing this month. I haven't had any signs -- this month has been off. I never really had much CM this month, but figured out that I O'd by temps & and positive OPK. No different symptoms yet, but then I really didn't have a lot when I was pregnant with ds. I've been busy this week, which I think has (gratefully) taken my mind off the TWW and redirected it to other areas. I'll test next week -- probably right before I go on vacation. So, I'm really OK with the result either way this month. If I get the bfp, if could be something to share with my family. If I get the bfn, then I can relax and have some adult beverages with them.

Me, too. Never tried before. Maybe it will be fast, don't know, haven't started ttcing quite yet.

Just wanted to say that I looked at your blog and my fiancé & I are also sick of house hunting constantly, and our list of desired specs are almost identical! What a coincidence.

Hello new thread!

Can I be moved to Waiting to O, please!

DH and I are having a weird time with TTC ideas right now. He was on board with TTC when we got married but when AF arrived last week, he said he was relieved and not quite ready to try yet, which led to a lot of sadness on my part (in addition to being sad about not being pregnant). We've talked a lot this week and basically it's come down to him realizing that he's never going to be ready enough to make the decision for us to start and he will be very happy about a baby when I get pregnant. We've agreed to NTNP until August and then we'll really start. I was handed the decisions on when to make babies AND when to get pets this week because he loves babies and puppies but will never think we're ready for either (we're ready for both...:) ).

So I will stay here in TTC land until then.

have a great week everyone!

maydaymom, thanks for keeping us all together. You won't see much activity from me, waiting to O seems to be 23-28 days for me...

librarygirl, good to hear that you had such an open conversation with DH. It's a bit of a cliche but I believe it: men aren't ready to be fathers till the day the baby is born. While I'm sure women have always had some very rudimentary forms of controlling reproduction, I do feel that in this modern age the amount of control we have can be a negative. It's become so much more of an intellectual choice than a biological one when people decide to have kids and I think a lot of times we overthink it, trying to create the best possible circumstances to bring a child into this world, when in reality most of us could provide a pretty darn good environment if we just trusted ourselves and the universe a bit more. Just my two cents.

Have a happy week, everyone. Happy BDing to all!

Sorry to hear that! Sometimes those early +hpt's are heartbreakers.

DH and I had a similar conversation a few times. When I ask when he wants to TTC he ALWAYS says, 'Oh, maybe in a few months/6months.' etc. But he did admit that he never feels fully confident to pull the trigger and say "now". He says I should just start when I am ready and make the decision for both of us. It's nice that he trusts me to be responsible in my decision making. If it makes you feel any better, he wasn't "ready" but was happy when I got pregnant with #1, #2 was a surprise for both of us, and he wasn't "ready" but happy when I was pregnant with #3. He's a bit of a worry-er so if we had left it up to his decision making we would possibly have no children yet! But he ADORES!!! his DD. They are buddies for sure and she is such a daddy's girl.

AFM: I am 5 DPO today. For some reason I feel SUPER positive about this cycle and have my hopes WAAAY up. Hopefully they won't come crashing down in about 10 days. I have 1 hpt left under the sink so I am going to (try) to hold off until 14 DPO of my 16 day LP. Lastnite we went to a get together for DH's work and DD had grandma as a babysitter. There were so many little kids and a 3 week old baby there...my baby hormones were going off the chart! I was looking around smiling at the kids and DH was thinking, 'Oh Lord! Here we go...'

I feel dumb for posting this but...

I am feeling crampy today at 5 dpo. And I am not one to obsess over 'possible' preg sympt. I've been actually trying to ignore it because I don't want to think about analyzing sympt until after this weekend. I have also been really tired since yesterday. Usually I have one cup of coffee in the a.m. and then maybe another 1/2 cup in the afternoon if I am feeling worn out or lazy. Yesterday I had a cup in the morning, one in the afternoon around 2:00, and by 5:00 I was drinking a mt. dew. and my eyelids still felt heavy. We've been going to bed and getting up at my normal time. Ugh, i sooo don't want to read into this. The cramps are all in my low back and a little bit on the sides of my low abdomen/pelvic. They feel like AF cramps but somehow different. I'm bloated too, like pants-have-to-be-unbuttoned to fit bloating. Creamy cm yesterday and today (and DH said I was really 'wet' {sorry, I hate that word! uhoh3.gif} when having sex lastnite even though I wasn't in the mood at all.) CP is high and firmly closed. Does anyone have a magic 8 ball they could inquire about that status of my uterus??

No magic 8 ball here... Your symptoms sound like either pre-af or pregnancy symptoms. Isn't it frustrating how similar they are? Wishing you much baby dust!

Does anyone have a magic 8 ball they could inquire about that status of my uterus??

It's so frustrating trying to distinguish, isn't it! A few months ago someone posted this link on FB and it made me smile to know that I wasn't going crazy in my symptom analysis and obsession. I'm sharing it here -- I hope you find the irony and humor in it that I did and that it makes the waiting a little easier. Hang in there!

Oh BaileyB, I feel your frustration. I too have been having the same things happen. Increase in appetite, tired, etc, etc.....but today I got a faint positve!!! I am only 10DPO so I am not gonna jump the gun. I will test again in a few days to verify and pray everything goes well. I just tried my best to keep my mind off of it, I don't know if you work or not but my job seems to keep my mind pretty occupied until I get home and that's when all of the "waiting" takes place. Just know you are not alone. I am sending positive baby dust your way and to all the ladies.

Hey One Threaders!  Missed you all a whole ton!  Since I was on about a month ago I've graduated with my AS in Music, gone to India for 3 weeks to see my goddaughters and am now in the middle of moving back down where I grew up.  It's been super busy so I hope you'll forgive me.  I haven't forgotten any of you or stopped sending pregnancy vibes in your direction!  Hop eyou're all doing well.  I'll read and try to catch up a little later.  Still super busy today! @_@

Delilahbeau! Congrats!!  I never test before 14 dpo so I don't know if I would get a + that early. That is exciting.  dust.gifmakebabe.gif

Thanks mayday mom!

AFM: not much difference than yesterday but less strong of symptoms. I had some extended family drama today and was feeling a little extra emotional than normal (maybe) but I got a malt and some onion rings and am feeling better lol. I don't normally emotionally eat but I was parked right next to Culver's when talking to my cousin on the phone so it seemed like the right thing to do at the time.

Please move me to waiting to know.

I have a question for y'all. What do you consider a stronger indication of ovulation: when EW fluid dries up, or when the temp shifts? I had EW dry up a few days before my temp shift this cycle and I'm not really sure which to trust more. FF seems to be going with the change in mucus.

Also, today I'm starting prometrium (progesterone) vaginally to try and lengthen my LP. I'll let you all know how it goes. I'm supposed to do it just after ovulation, but apparently I'm now 5DPO so hopefully it still works. AND hopefully it doesn't make me the tired, emotional, headachy mess that progesterone cream did! Fingers crossed!

Congrats, Delilahbeau! That is so exciting! I hope you have a nice, sticky bean!

AFM: AF arrived today, a couple days early. 26-day cycle this month. (34-day last cycle). I'm thinking about charting because now I'm wondering if my luteal phase might be a bit short. Does that tend to be a concern with a short cycle?

Today I ordered a BBT and 20 CB OPKs to try out this cycle. My PP cycles have been all over the place but seem to be slowly getting closer to my pre-pregnancy 28-day cycles (they were, say, 41 days 6 months ago). Here's hoping!

Maydaymom10, would you move me to Waiting to Ovulate? Thanks! And baby dust to everyone!

What a great article - thanks for sharing!  I especially liked the line about "I may cry if I don't have any chocolate during PMS too" hahaha

Can you please add my fertility chart? (just started charting temps 2 days ago).  Link is in my signature.

Just me and DS.
