Thanks for the new thread! Sorry I've been so absent lately, we've been having a rough time with an illness in the family :( My husband and I have had to make a pretty snap decision to pack up and move home to be closer to family and so I've been super stressed out. I have no idea where I am in my cycle because I dropped the ball on temping for awhile, ugh.

Oh well, whatever happens, happens.

lilac - how're things with you guys?

viddy - I'm sorry to hear that your husband has different plans to you, that must be rough. Thinking of you hug2.gif

doula, I hope your move goes as good as possible.  Moves are always stressful.  Give yourself time to adjust and deal with your family obligations.

AFM, DH and I were back at the fertility center today to put in another sperm donation.  We have to call back in 2.5 hours to find out how many swimmers they were able to freeze.  In exciting news, my sister who has been TTC for 7 years finally found out she was pregnant today after an IUI 2 weeks again.  I am excited for her.  My mom called up singing praises that she will be a grandma soon.  I am just praying my sister's pregnancy proceeds without any hitches.

I will update when I have the count for our sperm freeze.  I hope there were enough for us to try an IVF cycle.  My husband finds it embarrassing to make a donation that way.  Stress can't help things for any of us, I am sure.

Any other updates from anyone?

Lilac, thanks for the new thread. Can you please change my age to 33?

Nothing exciting to report over here. Next week I've got an appt to start looking into whether all my parts are working right... I'm actually looking forward to getting some more information.

DH and I had a talk the other night and I explained to him what "the clock" feels like for me. I think he felt I was being overly dramatic but now he can understand a bit better where I'm coming from.

Again, hopeful for this month. I just need to keep having faith that it'll happen. Because if we don't have hope then what?

dakipode, I changed your age.

AFM, got good news from the fertility center.  Again there were 5 motile and 3 nonmotile.  Also learned that this number is not the total that were frozen, it is simply a sample that was taken from the full volume that DH supplied so hopefully in each of the 4 vials frozen today, there are 5 motile sperm in each vial.  There were 5 vials frozen the last time so now there are a total of 9 vials frozen.  I thought that the 8 sperm were the total number in the vials but that wasn't the case at all.  Fertility treatment requires so much thinking and today was inspiration that good things might happen.

Yay, lilac! that sounds promising at least!

AFM- 6DPO but not hopeful at all. Still in a cluster headache period and spent most of the day in bed. headed back there very shortly, actually. Healthcare is just frustrating, too. My GP made the diagnosis and gave me painkillers but is reluctant to treat beyond that because they are rare and better treated by a specialist. The receptionist at the neurologist (I was referred by my doctor, with a request to see me ASAP) wasn't rude but very non-caring. Said they'd see me on October 3rd. In an attempt to find someone/something else, I called a chiropractor on Friday, around 12:30. Left a message. Office manager called me back an hour later, apologized for the delay and said, 'oh, you poor thing, he can see you on Tuesday morning and see if we can't help you, at least a bit. Sorry it can't be any sooner".  If nothing else, the chiro is winning on customer service right now! I'd much rather do something more natural if it will work. Chiropractor who does adjustments and acupuncture sounds better than a neurologist who will just give me pills.

Sorry for the rant. i'm just frustrated and TTC is just not happening because I've been in so much pain for the past 6 weeks. I tell myself that at least I know I should be able to handle natural childbirth now! :)

Librarygirl, sorry to hear you've been so miserable. The receptionists at doctor's offices are rarely sympathetic in my experience. You'd think they'd be trained to treat patients with kindness but it seems that to most of them it's just a paycheck...

Lilac: yes, great news! I imagine your DH is getting a boost from that news as well.

Doularebekah: I hope you're doing ok, that sounds like a tough spot to be in. I bet your family appreciates the support you're showing them by moving closer.

AFM: got an "explanation of benefits" letter from the insurance company in the mail the other day and am a bit freaked out about the "you may be billed this much" column... Need to call the doctor's office and ask about that before I go in for my scheduled procedures later this week and unknowingly add a couple thousand dollars to that...

Have a good week everyone. Keep on BD'ing, let's make those babies! dust.gif

Thanks.

And what I love is getting a bill from the doctor that's been processed before they receive your insurance payment. It's ridiculous how much healthcare is, even with insurance, isn't it? I'm afraid to see what this cluster is going to do bill-wise. We're at 3 office visits, one emergency room visit, and I'm scheduled with a chiropractor and a neurologist over the next few months. Not to mention what we've spent on meds for me in the past 6 weeks (imitrex, even generic, isn't cheap). I've been at work for an hour and already feeling like I'm not going to make it the whole day...At least I have sick time so I'm not losing pay with this but still....

You should call your doctor and insurance company and ask about allowable billed amounts and what the insurance will cover before you have the procedures done. Good luck!

Hi Everyone.  I popped in last year around this time, then life got crazy. We got married (!!!), then DH got pretty sick for a while & I went on OT at work at the same time (talk about stress).  TTC kind of got put on hold, but we're back at it now.  Not sure if we are 1 month in, 1 year in, or 2 years in - depends on how ya look at it.  My head spins just trying to figure it all out!  Anyway - quick rundown of our stats (now that you probably remember me from my rambling).  I'm 32, DH is 30.  I was recently (05/12) dx with PCOS & borderline thyroid issues (oh yay). DH like I said was recently seriously ill and is just getting healthy again - don't know what kind of craziness is going on with HIS system.

So, all that backstory taken into consideration, now I get to figure out all the fun of charting & figuring everything without making DH feel like the fun & spontaneity of trying is taken out of it.  Very glad to find this thread again - it's great to be reminded that we aren't alone in this!

Happy Birthday, dakipode! partytime.gif

librarygirl health care sure does have a lot of hidden costs. Hopefully you can get more covered by your insurance. It may be that you need to reach a deductible before they cover 100%.

things seem pretty quiet in this thread so far this month, hopefully that means everyone is out enjoying the summer weather instead of obsessing over TTC :)

AFM AF just ended, so this we are starting cycle #8. I made an appt with an RE to get checked out - my insurance will cover it and any labs as standard office visits so it's well worth the $20 copay to know if anything is up. I'm worried about short LP and thougt about just supplementing with OTC progesterone cream but would rather get checked out and have a doc know what is going on in case I do get knocked up. The receptionist who scheduled me was very friendly and even said that if they find something, they can usually get insurance to cover IUI or IVF (as required by state law) even before trying for 12 months. Hopefully we won;t get to that point but it is reassuring!

The first consultation is supposed to take 2 hours and they want both me and DH there. I'm not sure what to tell him to expect. Has anyone BTDT and can provide some guidance? TIA!

stay cool and keep up the BD!

kimble, I sent you a PM

librarygirl: yeah, so after calling and talking to the insurance benefits specialist I was expecting to pay $30 co-pay for my visit yesterday. I get to the check out and the girl says: "That'll be $870." I was flabbergasted! I asked to talk to the insurance lady in person, who by the way was extremely friendly and helpful, and got out of there paying $30. The way I had understood it was that I'd be billed for the difference up to my deductible later, which I expect to be around $500, but the girl figured since I was officially diagnosed, and my insurance plan pays 50% for treatment, that I was to pay the 50%... Not so. Glad I stood my ground with her and talked to the insurance person first!

Lee'sGirl: glad to have you. Hope things are on the up and up with your DH and you guys get to conceive a healthy, happy baby soon!

AFM: It's official, I have "infertility". I don't particularly care for the label, how can you have infertility? If anything you could label someone as being infertile but in my mind that's only after menopause... So don't really care what the medical system wants to call it, for me it was a means to an end since the only way you can move forward with fertility treatments is to be diagnosed with some sort of problem...

But here's a funny story: my friend has horrible insomnia, been struggling with it for years, and he told me yesterday he'd seen a hypnotherapist. He was taught to relax his subconscious mind and practice falling asleep by saying: "Sleep now." He said it worked, he had the best sleep he's had in months! I joked and said maybe I should try saying: "Baby now." ROTFLMAO.gifAnother immaculate conception! Go to sleep and wake up pregnant, LOL!

dakipode, I am not sure what to say except that you now have a way to move forward... I hope this is the first step towards realizing your dreams.

Lee's Girl, same to you-- the diagnosis is the first step. Best wishes for getting better.

Lilac, thank you for the new thread and so glad to hear good news from you. I am glad things are looking up.

librarygirl, I hope you are feeling better soon.

Doula, thinking of you. Thanks for the thoughts.

AFM, DH is still saying he wants to wait. I guess this is partially my fault because I requested we either try or prevent. The in-between was driving me 100% bonkers, and now it's been a year. The rest of the nuances of the discussion are all the usual long term relationship ridiculousness. He doesn't like the pressure of having to DTD more than he wants to. Fair enough.

I am still heartbroken. It brings up all kinds of insecurities about my not being able to influence his decision making, to not feeling attractive enough, to being worried that he thinks I will be an inadequate mother. Not only that, but I was ready four years ago. Since then all of our decisions, from the home we bought to the car to our jobs, have been based on the idea that we would be starting a family. Now we've been in our house for 3 years, we're financially stable, we have warm and loving parents who live 2 miles away and are about to retire. I just can't express how frustrated I am that he still wants to wait.

Lee's Girl, I remember you from last summer.  I put 07/12 as your "start", if you want another date for TTC beginning, let me know, since like you said you have 2 years, 1 years, or 1 month.  Hopefully this try will be be the one for you and that your stay here is short.

AFM, enjoyed a brief respite in Nashville, TN for a teacher's convention. AF showed up 2 days earlier than I expected so no free baby this month, but I am glad to know that we have more sperm waiting on ice when we actually get to our IVF cycle.  Hoping that this next paycheck will have the reimbursement that DH has been waiting for so we can put our downpayment down on our IVF cycle.

Thank you all for the welcome (re-welcome? Oh well, doesn't matter what you call it - it's still appreciated) and the well-wishes.  Lilac - 7/12 is fine, we had so many gaps in the trying that I think it's best to start again (way less discouraging that way, too).

I go back in Wednesday for my 3 month bloodwork.  I hate playing pincushion but I love my new naturopath & if she can help me get my system fixed then she can stab me all she wants!  I'm really hoping the massive amount of supplements I've been taking are starting to show some benefit - not as optimistic as I'd like to be, though, since finances meant there were some gaps in the availability of them all here & there.  No more though - DH got a job! Yay for weight off my shoulders & a WAY happier, more self-assured man!  Here's hoping his new confidence means good baby-making vibes!

Lee'sGirl - what is it that the naturopath is helping you overcome with supplements?  I know last summer I stopped eating as much soy and that seemed to help my periods although later in the fall I found out that I was hypothyroid so that med change has made a bigger difference.

AFM, looking forward to Friday when DH has another sperm freeze.  AF is almost over so it is on to another month of hoping.

Lilac -  Primarily the PCOS (peony & licorice pills for that) and some additional hormonal imbalances directly related to it - nettle tea to reduce testosterone, flax seeds to absorb excess estrogen & bring progesterone up.  Fish oil for general inflamation.  Vitamin D due to a deficiency.  Floradix & Ferrum Phos for severe anemia.  Also gave up all refined sugars & "white" carbs - low glycemic index diet for me now due to some signs of insulin resistance that are a classic sign of PCOS.  I'm also on a low dose thyroid med - not quite hypothyroidism but my numbers were off enough to warrant some help.  Sorry for the grocery list - you should see my nightstand! Lee'sGirl - Makes me think I should start taking my flaxseed again.  It has so many good qualities.  Hopefully your full nightstand will lead to a bfp soon.

Flaxseed is wonderful! I usually have it mixed into either oatmeal or yogurt for breakfast.  Apparently it loses it's benefits if it's cooked (or at least a good portion of it's benefits) so yogurt & oatmeal are my normal breakfasts these days.  I've actually gotten to where I kind of like the taste - took time, but it's getting there!

I would grind mine up fresh each morning in a coffee grinder and sprinkle it on top of my oatmeal.  It has a nutty taste on top of a peanut butter sandwich as well.  I will have to try that this morning again.  Eating a table spoon at a time of ground flaxseed is okay.  I know there are some people that use it to gel up things, making it act like an egg replacer, but I think you are right about heat ruining the positive effects of it.  I am good with it ground up on a few breakfast foods to keep me going.

boots, Lyle is so cute.  I love your new avatar!

Man, I think the Bajingo thread is due for a BFP some time soon.  I don't think we have had one in a couple of months.  Hopefully someone has some good news soon!

Congrats, boots!

Well, I think my cluster headache period is finally over, thank goodness! I added some vitamins and cut my artificial sweetners and that made a big difference. We all know those are evil....but I still get drawn to them from time to time. Hopefully I am done now. Now to focus on a much healthier diet and keeping blood sugar under control and losing some weight, while officially starting to TTC this month (we were NTNP since may). Unfortunately, I think my progesterone levels are too low- I've had a lot of spotting prior to AF starting and LP is 12 days long. Going to make appointments with GP (physical and diabetes control) and midwife (pap smear and making sure everything is good to start TTC) tomorrow. I'm just CD4 so it's a fresh cycle and time to get serious!

Happy BDing everyone! Bring on the BFPs!

Good luck Librarygirl! When I got pregnant it was after 8 months of NTNP and it was the first month of actually TTC. It might make a big difference.

Lilac -  That is how I do mine - grind it up fresh in a coffee grinder I have JUST for flax.  I am supposed to take 3 tbsp a day, so I usually mix them into oatmeal or yogurt like I said - or if I have fruit or something for breakfast, I will sprinkle it on a salad for lunch or dinner.

Okay, I made my doctor's appointments and DH and I are back on track with healthy eating. We had a serious talk last night- I reminded him that he told me August for actively trying and asked if he was still good with that. He said YES! I pointed out that we would need to DTD a little more than we have been (7 weeks of cluster headaches = very very very little sex) and of course he says, "oh, well, I'm not on board with that..." winky.gif. We talked timing and he looked at my chart. Definitely in the same mindset right now, which is just so exciting. Then he tried to read 50 Shades out loud to me, which made me fall asleep (no offense to those who like it but I think it's terrible. DH thinks it's terrible, too, but he does fantastically funny dramatic readings of really bad books).

Hope everyone else is well! Happy BD'ing. Let's get those BFPs!

ROTFLMAO.gif  Glad to hear you're having fun with it. I actually enjoyed the books and have been sucked into romance novels since. I call them brain candy, just something light and entertaining to read before falling asleep.

Yay for being on the same page and getting serious about BD'ing. Have you gotten the cluster headaches under control?

AFM: I'm running into some temping/test strip discrepancies, need to see if it keeps up. All my temps are pointing towards O in the next few days but the strips have been blank (control line shows up nice and dark). Usually I get a gradually darkening line but so far nothing... A bit confused but glad I've been temping so I can recognize the signs without having to rely on the strips. CM is hard to tell for me so no good info there.
