3 weeks - are everyone's cycles always so nuts PP? I haven't had my first PPAF yet.
RosieL - I'm hanging on til DS hits 1 before starting vitex personally just because although its traditionally used to increase milk supply, I've heard that it can also decrease it and I want my DS to be eating well enough to cope with any temporary dips in supply.
TCB - that makes sense. If you PM me your email ill send a vitex monograph that discusses both sides of the supply uses. (I think the difference is in dosage.)
Aw, RosieL! Boo! Do you mind sending me the vitex monograph also? (I will PM you) DH has some travel coming up in the next few weeks and I honestly have not had time to sit down and do the research. I am still amazed at how well it brought AF on for you! I was looking at my charts earlier tonight (I have only been logging CM) and I noticed that I have had EWCM on the 20th (+- 1 to 2 days) for the past 3 months. I wonder if that is my body trying to ovulate?
TheCrunchyBrit - hey, that's great! We can be "vitex buddies" LOL! My little one will be a year old this Tuesday and I have already had several people ask if I am going to wean him. I just smile and say, "nope."
Fishywishy - I have to admit I am still skeptical that vitex could possibly have worked so fast. I'm sure my body had been gearing up to ovulate given CM, middleschmertz, and horniness. It would just be such a HUGE coincidence if the Vitex wasn't the cause...
Hey ladies I'd love to join this group. My DD is 14 months old today and she still nurses quite frequently and 2-3 times at night, but I got my first pp cycle back when she was around 8 months old. We plan on TTC soon and I've been attempting to take my temp every morning and track ovulation but I always forget :/
Hi LoveNFaith! Where would you like to go on the list? Would you be waiting to be ready?
Rosie - I'll PM you now, I'd really appreciate that. I'm in no hurry to wean DS. I figure if he still wants it then he still needs it so if vitex does decrease my supply, then I'll be stopping it.
Fishywishy, DS is 1 on 1st August so our babies are pretty much the same age! Would love a 'vitex buddy'
I can't wait to see if it works. I'm no monarchist but the royal baby put in an appearance today and it's on every tv channel, in every paper, etc.. all I'm seeing is 'baby, baby, baby' and I'm sooooo broody now.
I'd like to join in the fun. DH is adamant that we are done but I've put him in charge of all birth control so we know how this story is going to end
Please put me in Waiting to be Ready. Still nursing DS #2 (14 mos) about 3-4 times during the day and a gazillion times at night...not really but still about every 2 hours. It feels like a gazillion.
First PPAF showed up on July 6 and was a doozy. Those first two days, I actually considered whether I should call a medical professional about blood loss. I'm really hoping that it was a fluke and that I'll regulate quickly.
I lost my supply very quickly when I got pregnant with DS#2 but DS #1 was a little over 2 at that point so I was ok with it. I'm feeling a little conflicted about depriving DS#2 of a full two years of milk if I would get pregnant soon. Any thoughts?
So happy to be back in the TTC forums with new friends and familiar faces (Hi Viv and Tantylynn
) Does it still count as TTC if one person is TTC and one person is Trying to Prevent?
Welcome LIF and AtS! I wish you both a very short and happy stay in here. Well, maybe not too short in AtS's case.
Funny, I put DH in charge of prevention measures for a year before we started TTC and he was VERY careful. There was no way anyone was getting pregnant. I would have loved for him to be a bit more careless at that time. He was so scared of having a baby, though sure he wanted one. Now it feels so weird and different for him to be 100% ready and excited to TTC #2.
Rosie - I think that my DH is going to be very careful for a couple months and then he's going to get cocky and think that he's got this cycle thing down and then we're going to have the oops. That's my plan anyway (Insert devious smiley here). I told him that I would chart my cycle on the family calendar and I always synch with the moon so he can pretty much figure that 5 days before and 2 days after a full moon is the danger zone. It's not rocket science. And I am just so done being the one to take care of birth control...it's been 11 years...I'm handing over the responsibility.
To All - I never temped for my other TTC cycles as moon phase, CM and CP were always spot on predictors. Does it really even work when still nursing? If it is something that I want to start, is it even worth it? I'm hot all the time when I'm nursing. Wouldn't that skew the temps? Together with the fact that I'm up every two hours at night?

Hi LIF and AtS. I'm new here too. I'll be interested to follow your story AtS. I wonder just how careful your DH will be.
I couldn't stand it any longer and have been poas for the past two days. The first was last night and it was a BFN. So this morning I decided to do it right with my first morning urine. Also a BFN
. However, I've been crampy and spotty today. I am not expecting AF for another week so now I'm feeling really hopeful.
Hi ladies! May I join you here? DD is 12 months, nursing a ton, cycles are all over the place. I'm actually sort of surprised that I even have cycles at this point since she's nursing ALL night long. But anyway, I don't know if I have it in me to jump on the TTC boat with both feet (soooo much anxiety!), but I'm open to a new life and feeling hopeful just the same.
OK, so. I'm CD 20 and still waiting to O (normal for me with nursing cycles, but annoying). I started checking CP last month, which I think I'm finally getting the hang of? Actually no, I'm still clueless. All I know is that it is higher and a little softer and a little more open than it was after AF, but not very soft or very open.
AndtheStars- I'm hot all the time when I'm nursing, too! I do temp, and my temps are pretty regular despite nursing all night. However, it really only confirms O (doesn't predict), which is helpful with my crazy nursing cycles, but unnecessary if other indicators work better. If the other methods work for you, I probably wouldn't bother.
Hi everyone,
I'd love to join this list. My DS is almost 3 and I got my period back last November (a few months after his second birthday). We've been TTC since about December and I've been feeling down that it hasn't happened yet. My cycle has been variable - I have read that you are not fully fertile until your cycle becomes regular, but we try anyway.
I night-weaned a couple of months ago but he still nurses for a long time in the mornings, and also at nap and before bed. I am starting to fear that I will need to wean completely to get this to happen. I am 39 (older than I would have liked, but got a late start).
I haven't tried any supplements yet, and I haven't been to the dr. I've been tracking my temp and doing ovulation tests. My temp usually spikes a 2-3 days after the positive o test. Is this normal? It seems like a strangely long time. My LP is therefore hard to judge, but has likely been a bit short (9-10 days).
I am currently on day 10 of my temp spike, which is good news for a lengthening LP, but I just got a BFN, so I'm feeling a little down. You are all so positive here that you are helping me keep my chin up! Perhaps it is just too soon for the test. And, to be honest, it was expired so it could be a false positive.
Anyway, I would appreciate any tips of words of encouragement!
Hi emom! You're probably seeing a + opk 24-48 hours before you actually ovulate, which is normal. So a temp spike 48-72 hours later would be spot on! And yes, that's great news for your LP. Last month mine was 5. Days. I have never, ever had that before. I think my body is having a hard time getting the progesterone levels right with all the nursing and newly cycling again. But still, kind of a bummer.
tomtemom - if AF isn't due for another week. maybe your cramping and spotting are implantation. What's your LP like? I'd wait to POAS for 3 more days at least. I didn't get BFP's on FRER's until at least 14-16 DPO but that's just me. That's a pretty impressive TTC acronym string there, isn't it?
tolovemercy - Welcome! I have noticed after the birth of DS2 that CP is a little trickier to figure out. I think that my os is always a little open now and my cervix seems to be over to the left all the time though it does move up and down slightly.
emom47 - Welcome to you also! I second tolovemercy that a temp spike a few days after + OPK's sounds about right. What kind of OPK's do you use? I always used the ones that the line faded in to very dark. Can you see a gradation of color in the lines or do they all look the same? How's your CM? Did it take awhile to conceive your son? Sorry for the 20 questions, TTC is so fascinating to me. It made it easier when I was younger and thought you got pregnant just by having sex.
AFM - I've had spotting (brown with a little dark red, sorry if TMI) since Monday. It started CD17 so I thought this was O time for me. But I've never had spotting with O before. Do you think it's O or just PP cycle wackiness?

Ditto. I've mostly conceived easily, but man. There is so much at play, I could stalk fertility forums all day. It gets more miraculous to me as the years pass.
RE: Spotting- Sounds like PP wackiness to me, hormones re-configuring and whatever. How's your CM? Last month I spotted/bled lightly literally every other day until O. So strange.
Hi! I just wanted ti introduce- I am TTC and still nursing my almost 2 yr old. I was so glad to find this thread! We have only been ttc since May when my first PPAF returned.
I am preparing to O in couple days, doing lots of BD and hoping to get a BFP around Aug 10th! Could someone add me to your list so I can keep track with other nursing mamas?
I have been a little down feeling like I may not be able to conceive until we fully wean, which I'm not yet ready to do. My son still nurses before bed and nap.
I have read your messages and wish you all the best of luck!!
Welcome everyone I've missed! Sorry, been super busy as DS is 1 in a week and I'm party planning - yay!
Emom47, I've added you to 2WW based on where you are in your cycle. Keep your chin up, I'm also feeling the sting of a later start in my childbearing years but then I remember that my parents conceived my 2 youngest brothers totally naturally when they were 38 and then 42. It definitely does happen. I'm going down the vitex route if you want to join me and fishywishy with it? I'll be starting it mid August. I'm also up every 2 hours at the moment thanks to some molars DS is cutting so I feel like my chances of my first PPAF appearing soon without a little push are slim to none
