False positive? I think?? - Mothering Forums

Has anyone got a bfp one morning and the got bfn's after that? I think it was just a false positive!! greensad.gif sad I was so happy for a few hours until I took my next test!

This has happened to me, and then I had a period that was so noticeably different from my regular periods that it was undoubtedly a miscarriage. False positives are really rare and "chemical pregnancies" are pretty common (25% I think).

 

Either way, I'm very sorry. It's so cruel to get your hopes up like that. Hugs if you need them, and good luck trying again!

Did you get them on the same day? The level of HCG in your urine decreases as the day goes by, so I wouldn't test until the next day, or maybe a few days later. Good luck!

Also, some tests are less sensitive than others. If one have you a positive, then I'd hang my hopes on that unless AF comes.
