Hey Mamas. Can someone set me straight regarding fertility and breastfeeding, particularly w/ night time bfing? I nurse my almost 3 year old maybe only twice a day (nap/bedtime) tho, quite frequently during the night still regardless of my attempts to encourage her otherwise. Is this enough to interfere w/ fertility? (we've been ttc off and on for almost a year) And is it not relevant the other way around? I conceived her while nursing her then 18mo brother, tho he was nursing tons during the day and seldom at night... if it is about bfing throughout the night, what is that about? Personal anecdotes and btdt stories welcome. Thank you!

It could be enough for her to throw off your ovulation, though for us it wasn't. I've conceived all but our oldest while nursing round the clock. I actually tend to nurse a lot more at night.

I'm sorry I'm no help with your actual concern, I'm just relieved to see another person in the same boat - DS is 2.75 and "day weaned" - never asks during the day, but still nurses who knows how often at night.  When he "day weaned" was when I went from having 8 week cycles with 7 day luteal phases to 5 week cycles with full 14 day luteal phases....so for me at least I think the trick was just the long stretch of no nursing during the day.

I will add that my cycles average 27-28 days, w/ plentiful days worth of EW CM, and the perfect 14 day luteal phase. Can my fertility be impacted and still look so text book?

I actually had to night wean to get my cycle back... I conceived after my first PP AF.  If you are getting your cycle while night-nursing I would guess that your fertlity has returned, especially if you are having regular and predictable cycles :thumb
