So we've decided to start trying for a 2nd baby.  We have an almost 4 year old and we are finally at a place where we 'want' to have a 2nd.  Anyway, hubby was JUST told that he needs to start Prednisone for his Ulcerative Colitis flare up.  Nothing else is working, and it seems that this is the last resort - medication wise.  It figures that as soon as we make the decision to try, he gets sick.  Anyway, I'm concerned that a)  his sperm will be affected negatively - in turn affecting unborn babt b) his sperm count will diminish.

Has anyone had any experience in this matter?  My next move is to call our provincial health line, but thought I'd get some first-hand experience.  Thanks.

I'm sorry I don't have any experience to share, but I am bumping this up for more attention. Anyone have experience with this?
I hope your TTC journey is short and sweet!

Hi yogann, unfortunately prednisone is known for greatly reducing sperm count. I don't have personal experience but I'm a nurse and looked it up in my reference books. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news! UC is a tough one.
