Thank you so much for the encouragement. It really means a lot. For some reason this time has been hitting me really hard. I always thought getting pregnant would be easy for us; and technically, it still may be as it has only been six months. But my OB says now at 6months of trying she wants to see me to talk over things and possibly do testing because of my uterine polyps. I see her Thursday afternoon. Hopefully it goes well.

Kita, I just realized we have been trying for the same amount of time. I can't believe it's been six months, wow. I've only had four cycles though. I am excited for your appointment Thursday. Anything that gets us closer to our end goal in this journey is so exciting.

Do you ladies mind if I hang around for a while? I had 2 early mc's last year, so I'm still being cautious.

Rosie I'll be thinking of you with your appt tmw. I hope you find some answers.
Kita4 I know nothing about polyps or what the treatment would be. But I do have to say that I'm glad I had the surgery for endo. I know it's not the same thing but it helped in my head so much to know that I was taking steps in the right direction and that is have some answers at the end of it all. I hope you find a solution.

Thanks! I'm not really expecting answers. I'd settle for a theory. I mostly expect us to hash out medical history and possibly some bloodwork orders. I think once he gets some bloodwork back he'll develop a game plan. So we shall see! But I'd def be interested in his theory!

Sorry! That stinks. So you mentioned you've been trying for years. Or you said you haven't been able to get pregnant....have you actively been TTC this whole time? Have you talked to your dr about any diagnostic screenings? Like SA or HSG (dye test), or post coital test? I would have lost my patience long ago.....

i think most ppl don't count day 1 until actual flow starts. I think ff does it this way too. When y'all have a blizzard approaching does your town go into a grocery shopping frenzy? As if it's an apocalypse? Get some bread and milk while you're out today! Lol!

AFM, just waiting to go to my appt! I have zero motivation at work today. We just finished our crazy busy time if the month, so it's down time. I should have just taken the day off. Oh well, I can tough it out. And maybe I'll change my mind an take the afternoon off!

ETA: I woke up with my right boob in a lot I pain. I've never had that happen so it's kind of strange. And it still hurts. What's up with that?!?!

(sorry, I never figured out how to use the quote feature on MDC).

I have been trying off and on since.  I have had tons of bloodwork done, but have not been able to afford to go to an RE, nor has dh been willing.  I just was referred to a new OB at the office I go to who is going to do more diagnostics.  She specializes in NaPro Technology (which I don't totally understand).  She wants to do an ultrasound next week and then move on from there.  DH really needs to get tested too....last time we checked he had some motility/morphology issues.  At some point I probably just need to realize it's not going to happen and give up.  I'm just not there yet, I still feel like someone is missing from our family.

Hopefully the new OB will be able to do more. When I was trying with my first (12+ years ago), my OB was able to do several diagnostics without me having to go thru a RE. I think she ordered his SA, and I know for certain she did the post coital test (which was kind of cool cause I got to look at his swimmers under the microscope), And HSG. Is your DH opposed to having another SA?

I get so frustrated with men who don't want to do a SA bc it's "embarrassing" to them. As if us women don't put ourselves thru embarrassing situations over and over while TTC, and throughout pregnancy and childbirth. It's like we ask then to do ONE THING they are uncomfortable with and all bets are off. I think it's super stingy and selfish. I'm not saying your DH is this way - he's obviously done the test before - I'm talking about other men. If my DH acted like that, he'd most certainly regret it.

Sometimes it takes a little bit of time to get darker.  Which brand are you using?

Definitely try the Walmart ones.  Wondfo sometimes acts up and doesn't change, even with the ovulation sticks.  That's why I stopped using them.

Already done with appt...

I felt it went ok. He did mention that I'm not exactly young, but I'm certainly not too old at 38. He said that he would estimate my mc chances at 40% right now, and chances of a healthy pregnancy 60%. He told me I could take aspirin, which I started last weekend anyway, and he wants me to start progesterone supplementation 3dpo. Says it won't sustain an unhealthy pregnancy, but will help a healthy one. He sent me for tons of bloodwork. I think he's testing thyroid, autoimmune issues, and idk what else. He said to call back in a week for those results. Unless something comes back bad - then he'll send me for further testing. But overall I felt like he seemed fairly optimistic that I could have another baby...it just might take some time and possibly more miscarriages before it happens. DH seemed ok, but he wants to know that we won't get pregnant with a special needs child. Idk what he expects....no one can provide that guarantee. I felt like when dr said there's no reason to think we can't have a healthy pregnancy, that he also meant it's a good possibility that we could have a "healthy" baby. DH said "healthy pregnancy doesn't mean healthy baby to me". He wants to hear some guarantee that he's not going to hear. Ever. But he didn't even ask the dr about those concerns while we were there. He said he wants to wait and see what the dr says after bloodwork comes back. I just feel like with all these early losses of mine, that my body is great at recognizing an unhealthy pregnancy. And that when we catch a good egg, everything will be fine.

He's scared of having a baby with chromosomal abnormalities such as Downs. Which I don't think anyone ever thinks "oh, I'd like to have a downs baby....". He's just very worried about the possibility.

Yay, li5a! I had a good feeling you'd have a bfp in the end! Hopefully it gets darker & at least it's still positive!

Rosie, glad your appointment seemed to be useful. From what you've told us, your doc seems pretty level headed, which is good!

Welcome cawmama! I didn't think I'd be obsessed but I'm getting that way!

TinyTina- I always start CD 1 the day my flow actually starts, not spotting. My ob confirmed this is the way to track.

Kitai hope your appointment will shed some light on where to go next! I can't imagine how frustrating it is not knowing what's going on or how to deal.

I know I'm missing some personals but sorry I'm catching up on my lunch break! And on my phone!

AFM (I just realized this was not a username!): my 2ww just got interesting. I noticed a bit of spotting this morning. I do tend to spot before AF but I'm only 7/8 DPO, which would be early even for me. Also think I've notice some slight cramping. And my temp shot up again today. I'm really trying not to be to hopeful as I've had some crazy cycles recently so spotting extra early doesn't seem to be out of the realm of possibility. But now I'm just dying to know. And I can't talk about it with DH because he is already so stressed about the house hunting (he's supportive but right now on an "as needed" basis & I know the guessing/symptom spotting would make him CRAZY). Ok that's all. Yikes!

Have a great one ladies!

Mama to my little busy bee.

I'm only 35 (36 in May) and I don't really "worry" about it, but it's on my mind the older I get. Someone linked this video on FB the other day and it really touched me. I'm crying again even just trying to link it here because it affected me so much. http://blog.heritage.org/2014/03/17/watch-children-syndrome-tell-pregnant-mom-happy-life-son-syndrome-will/

This topic is so close to my heart, everyone. I'd like to share a little bit of my experience if that's okay :)

I have nannied a baby with Down Syndrome since he was born... his name is Will and he was a surprise baby. His parents were 42 years old. Let me tell you... sweetest little boy and I cannot imagine my life with out him. He is 13 months now and growing stronger every day.

Does he have a lot of complications? Sort of. DID he have a lot of compilations? Yes. He needed open heart surgery, tubes put in his ears, and adenoids taken out. He was on a feeding tube till he was almost 5 months old (that thing was SO annoying) and I didn't count ounces at feedings, I counted milliliters. I learned to deal with all of these things; and honestly, he is such a fighter I can't help but fall more and more in love with him every time I see him. Nor can I help tearing up every time I talk about him, this time is no exception.

It was his parents choice to keep him after finding out early on through Amnio that he did have Down Syndrome. I am so very glad they did. It was really, really hard for them at first. I watched them go through all the stages of grief in how they lost the dream they had for their son, but it was miraculous to watch them accept another dream that was named Will. As soon as they held their little man in their arms, everything fell together and it was wonderful to hear them say "now our family is complete". They have two girls, ages 10 & 12. I have nannied his sisters for three years.

There are many amazing books, support groups, and other resources out there for couples who are facing the unexpected news that their child has down syndrome!! You will NOT be alone in this!

This post is for anyone reading it- if you ever find yourself in these unexpected shoes, I know it is ultimately your choice, but want to encourage you and say This Can Be Done. And it can be done well. Having a baby with Down Syndrome is not the end of the world :)!!!! They may be different, yes; but different can be SO wonderful!!

Will is now in daycare while his parents work, which is GREAT for his social and emotional growth. He is also in physical therapy- the woman comes right to the daycare center which is so helpful! At 13 months, Will is able to sit up by himself, but we are still working on getting him to push up on his hands to get him read to crawl. I know he can do it!! He loves his bottles still, and we are now counting ounces ;). But he loves mum-mums, puffs, and baby food & cereal, too!

Babies with Down Syndrome can do anything someone with out Down Syndrome can do, it may just take them longer to get there.

I hope this post was encouraging :).

I know it CAN be done. But realistically, no one WANTS to do it. They wouldn't choose it. And yes, I think all Downs babies that are raised are loved a lot. But there's a lot more to think about. If I have a downs baby, and I pass away (which I will one day), who will take care him? Most likely my other children. And I don't think that's fair at all considering it's not their choice for me to have another baby.

I'm just saying it's a valid concern. As I quickly approach my forties it's more of a concern than when I was in my mid-20's. I'm also scared of it happening, but I also don't think it will....

Eta: and while things may be all roses right now, he's only one. It's likely it will only get harder the older he gets. Not trying to be harsh, just being realistic.

Just my two cents ladies but I don't think anyone can really make a decision like that until they are faced with it. My husband and I have these discussions sometimes and honestly we still don't know what we would do if we found out we were having a baby with downs. That and not every baby with downs has the same situation either.

I can tell this is a heated topic so I hope I haven't offended anyone. Just hope we can support each other no matter what choices we make.

As I said in my post- it's the parents decision. I was simply telling my personal story. It was meant as an encouragement and definitely not meant to offend anyone :). I have met a lot of women who are really freaked out by this, and I just wish I could hug them all and tell them that no matter what- it will be okay. Education on this subject really is so important for anyone! Not just mothers and fathers who are faced with the news.

After reading many books written by mothers who have children/adult children with Down Syndrome, and nannying Will, personally, (emphasis on the personally) my husband and I have decided to keep any child we are blessed with. This is just our view.

Children with Down Syndrome can be high or low functioning. With that being said, many adults are able to live on their own and provide for themselves. I truly believe William will be one of these people! He is doing great right now, and I am so proud of him! Here's a pic of baby Will :). Isn't he adorable??!

If my beliefs are different than anyones- that's okay. I just wanted to share a positive story. :joy  Maybe someone scrolling by needed to read it.

Carry on : ).
