hey all we're back from our trip! had a fabulous time! i was so busy selling our toys and sightseeing in d.c. that i really wasn't bothered by all the pregnant bellies and babies in slings. we we're bad too.....dh and i sat in the hot tub a couple times (yeah, not sure what we we're thinking.....well at the time we we're thinking we we're fed up with trying to be so d*mn perfect all the time) and now i'm thinking.....stupid, stupid, stupid....as if we didn't have enough of a male factor issue, why not just fry all the sperm???? oh well...

speaking of sperm, dh is having a repeat s/a this week. Korin or may-lily....what is the extra test that your dh's had done? antisperm antibodies, is that it? anything else he should have done???

heather i'm so sorry.

adina - i can't believe you're on your way already. WOW! how long till the actual transfer?

Welcome to all the new people!

Transfer won't be until the end of the month. Or so. All depends on how I react. So far so good...four shots down, and no noticeable side effects. Last bcp tomorrow, and then just have to wait until my period starts.

Heather. That sucks!

Welcome Freespirit! I hope you move on to the pregnancy boards soon!

Are you doing IVF Adina? I missed this! Glad the shots are going okay. My RE said I'll be doing some when we start again and I am a bit freaked.

Welcome back, Jodi. Maybe you should tell your doc about the hot tub and see if your DH should wait to get a more accurate result? And next time he can just watch you in the hot tub!

to all!

Yeah - the whole IVF thing snuck up on us too! :LOL Shots are easy. They are really fine needles, and it goes really fast. I am only on my first med tho. we will see how I feel about them in a week. :LOL

quick pop in (Friends visitng...)

Heather I'm so sorry, do take care of yourself and come ask for extra hugs/thoughts if you want.

Squeaker: antibodies, maybe dna fragmentation(though we've never had that tested I know it can be a factor). Some labs dont even test that in depth, figuring that if the basic parameters are ok, then things are ok (count, councertration, motility, liquefaction, ph)

I'm cd10 and going NUTS. Why do I always have pregnancy symptoms in the middle of my lp and then nothing? Sometimes it makes me feel like fertilization happens often but no implant. Boo....

Hugs to all

M

If anyone sees the Prevention Guide "How to get Pregnant" and is tempted to buy it, just find a spot int he store and breeze through it. I snatched it up in the checkout line, shelled out $3.99 and feel like I already knew all this stuff.

Getting back on track with the WL (down a pound!) and the gym (did weights yesterday, cardio today and my yoga mat is sitting in front of the TV for tomorrow). I feel really PMS-y which sucks because I still have some spotting from the surgery. Knowing my luck I have a CD1 next week so I'll only get 2-3 days off.

Night all!

hi to everyone! posting here since the adoption forum is kinda quiet-i got used to all the activity over here and on the one thread! we just passed our fire marshall inspection-woohoo-probably a little thing in the grand scheme but it's another thing to cross off our list.
so far, we had our physicals and labwork, applied for passports and certified driving records, spread copious amounts of fingerprints around various levels of the gov't, given everyone we know a certified copy of our birth certs :LOL , met with an attorney to set up a will, living will, guardianship, etc....met w/the homestudy social worker once...done loads o paperwork (how do you plan to determine your child's allowance?, etc ) for her, for our inter'l agency and for the CIS (citizenship and immigration services), proven that we are duly employed at least twice already, made our meager finances an open book , talked to our retirement planner... next should be the health dept inspection...baby, baby, baby-you sure are wanted in this house! anyway, ladies, thanks for letting me get all this out-i feel much better now when i look back on all we've accomplished in a relatively short timeframe.
i'll go back into :
take care,
kel

Okey dokey then....cd 1 it is. Ultrasound and blood work tomorrow at 8am. Nurse told me to eat before the appointment 'cause they are taking 4 vials of blood. 1 for the estradiol and 3 to have extra serum on hand for retrieval. So, here we go.

The bad news is that the nurse gave me the date of the 27th for retrieval, and it could be two days earlier, or two days later. Which means that dh would need to miss an entire week or work. Which isn't so hot. And it concerns me that we are pissing his brand new employers off. His boss did have to do ART to get pregnant too tho, so he knows what is going on. But ugh.

Oh well, it will all work out right? sigh

Adina, I remember all too well the added stress of wondering how considerate our employers would be with the necessary absences required for ART.

Just a note on the large intramuscular shots: make SURE that the area is completely dry after you wipe it down with alcohol. It hurts very, VERY bad if you inject while the area is still wet.

Good luck!

He's here! Sorry so late mamas. I haven't been near a computer in over a month.

Locke was born on June 9th at 10:04 pm by c-section. I had pushed for 2 hours and he was hung up in my pelvis. We are both doing great. He was 8 lbs. 15 ozs. and 22 inches long. As soon as I can I'll post a link to pics.

Amy: congratulations!!
Jamie, good luck with the HSG.

af started yesterday at only 12dpo...or I had a very slow temp rise and o'd before I realized...anyways, boo-hoo. I've decided to do an IUI this cycle but no meds. I'm doing these new chinese herbs which should give me a strong o so I hope that does it. I could not reach my doc by phone so I sent her an email with my decision. I know she's not really into it, but I hope she'll support me to try at least once.
Of course this morning I opened my email and there's a msg from a good friend back home announcing me her pregnancy. I'm so envious.

hugs to all

Thanks everyone for all the hugs. I am back now and feeling a lot better. I have my first appointment today with the dr. in Arizona and I am starting to get nervous. I have no idea why, it just seems like I am finally taking a step seeing someone esle. I blindly chose this person so I have no idea how she is going to react to my charts and all, but we'll see. I am guessing we will mainly just do standard bloodwork since I am still bleeding. Wish me luck with this new dr. :

M I hope your doc is somewhat supportive of one more IUI. Ours practically made us do them.. cause he thinks we shouldn't give up hope on them till we've done 3 on prednisone. We'll see....

Things are a little crazy 'round here (we're moving on Tuesday!) but I've been lurking

Congratulations Amy! I agree, it really does seem like yesterday you got pregnant! Yay!

I feel like I've come to another ephiphany somewhere along the way (I think I should start calling myself the Queen of Ephiphanies, cause I have so many of them!) Anyway, I'm letting go of (even more of) my expectations. For once, that doesn't seem to be a struggle... maybe it has to do with the big move, maybe not. But right now, I feel pretty at ease with my situation.

for everyone doing shots and tests More hugs for everyone feeling down and out because their baby hasn't come yet... And a huge hug for Heather

Belly Blessings!

Well, that was a waste of $40 and my time. The doctor doesnt know if progesterone deficiencies really exist since she has read things on both sides of the arguement. Since I cycle every month its perfectly OK to bleed for 10-14 days at a time and since I have had a live baby there is no reason I shouldnt get pregnant again and that 2 out of 10 pregnancies end in m/c so its my poor luck to have had 3 in a year. Wow I have lots of scar tissue from the c-sect and my bladder and uterus are fused and move as one piece, but I shouldnt worry about it affecting a pregnancy. Oh yeah it might help if I lose 20 lbs since I am a huge heffer at 143 lbs. Yeah I know I could lose weight, but I had these issues before I gained the 20 lbs and they all came on after my m/c last July. She did refill my progesterone though just because it would make me feel better. She thinks I should go a cycle without it and see if I ovulate on my own. Huh? I know I ovulate, I have 16 charts with me 10 of which i wasnt on progesterone. I take the progesterone after I ovulate. No need for any blood tests at this time, if I have another m/c we will do some and check the clotting antibodies or whatever. See ya in a year, good luck to ya. I dont want to have to go down the list of doctors on my health plan one at a time and pay $40 to see if they will take me serious or not. I guess I should go see a specialist but can I just call one without a referral? I have a PPO, I just dont know if they will just see you if the ob/gyn thinks your fine. I dont know what I wanted them to do or what I was expecting, just after 17 cycles, i thought that they would test something or do something kwim?

NEW DOCTOR!!!!! GET A NEW DOCTOR!!!! Ack.

Your doc sounds like she is a twit.

3m/c is usually when they start doing testing. And as for you being pregnant before meaning you won't have any problem the second time- what utter bs. :

Find a new doc - do phone interviews, check to see if anyone on this board knows of a good doc on your insurance, check online to see if there are any reviews of your possible doc. Call and get a referral to a specialist.

I am so sorry that the appointment sucked.

I am definately getting a new dr. I am going to push for phone interviews because I dont want to shell out $40 a pop to people who arent going to help me anymore. I just am so sick of having to fight for every ounce of help. How come they all want to pump me full of crap to prevent pregnancy yet I have to beg to get them to help me get pregnant? Wouldnt they get more $ out of my insurance if I were pregnant then seeing me once a year for a pap?

Congrats Amy ont he new baby!

Heather, I am on a PPO and don't need to get a referral. I'm pretty sure that all PPOs are like that because that was a big selling point when we got it. Call your insurance company. That lady sounds like a wacko!

I had my post-op check-up yesterday and everything looks good. I'll call my RE Monday and see when he wants me to come in. My OB said that they might want me to take the progesterone again to bring AF back but they might not because the lining is still pretty thin and my follicles are still small.

He did show me a pic of my uterus and it was amazing! First he shows me one that looks like those medical specials where they put a camera somewhere and it is all open and clear. "That is what a uterus is supposed to look like," he says. THen he shows me one that you can tell was taken from the same place, but it looks like the alien nest in Alien with all these lumps and bumps. He said it was virturally imposible to get pregnant because there wasn't anywhere for the egg to implant and if it did implant, there wasn't any room to grow.

And...we got another referral to our doctor! :LOL A friend comes up to DH and says that he hopes he isn't prying and he doesn't know our situation but his sister had a difficult time having a baby and saw a really great doctor. He's Jewish... and DH interrupts him as asks if it is Steven Presser and it was! So now I have 3 referrals to him and that really makes you feel like you are in competent hands. KWIM?

to all!
