On another post, you wrote about a "secondary estrogen surge that causes temps to drop below coverline after ovulation. Some women get them every cycle, pregnant or not." I have TCOYF but could not find any reference to this. Can you tell me which section it is in? I just looked at my charts and lo and behold, I do show this dip pretty consistently, even the month that I was pregnant with my daughter. I am curious about exactly how long after ovulation does the dip occur? I just turned 45 so I don't have much time left, and every little clue that will help me figure out when I am ovulating will be a great help.

Thanks!

Patti

I have an older copy of TCOYF - but let me see if I can find it...

In my book, it is in Appendix A on page 274.

Quote:
"Temperature Below Coverline Well After Ovulation"

After ovulation (during the luteal phase), there is a second smaller surge of estrogen, which may cause a temporary drop in temperature and often coincides with a day or two of creamy cervical fluid. You need not be concerned, though, because it is not an indication of returning fertility. The egg is already dead and gone by then.
This is obviously referring to those who use FAM to avoid pregnancy, and not those who are ttc.

Sorry I can't answer your question about when it happens, though. I think it's usually around 7dpo give or take a few days?
Hence the erroneous "implantation dip" theory.
