Keep seeing people talking about eating pineapple and TTC. Tried google, but not sure what pineapple does. Anyone know?

Thanks!

This enzyme is helpful for implantation because it reduces inflammation within the uterus (and everywhere else in the body too -- especially used to reduce inflammatin in joints for those with arthritis).

I ate pineapple after all my IVF's (4 total) and two led to pregnancies. I am now trying naturally and start eating either a half pineapple after O (for about 5 days) or I take Bromelain tablets which you can find in most health food stores. I really think the stuff works but it is probably a combination of a lot of good things (diet, adequate progesterone, etc.).

Good luck to us all this month!

hi - popping in to say that the cycle when i ate almost an entire pineapple after ovulation was the cycle when i finally got pregnant, and i am now due in july 06.

i wanted to add to pp's info that if you go with eating pineapple rather than taking bromelain tablets, it must be FRESH pineapple. canning or preserving or cooking the pineapple (to some certain temperature, i don't recall what) will destroy the bromelain that you're trying to ingest.

good luck!!!!

I ate pineapple about days 5-9 DPO when I got pregnant. I figured it couldn't really hurt! And it tastes yummy!

this is funny b/c I had the most absolutely insane craving for pineapple a couple of days ago...it was like I HAD to eat pineapple, there was no question about it.

Hmmm....maybe this month will be it.

Thanks for the cool info.

I've got mine waiting. This would be my first month trying pineapple, so what exactly do I do? I wait til I ovulate, then start eating it? Or 5 days after O? And how much, like a cup of fresh cut up pineapple a day?

Thanks!!

When DH gets home, I'm going to suggest we go to the store, as I just ovulated.

I've never heard this but I've heard NOT to eat pineapple while pregnant b/c it can cause contractions and early labor. Wow go figure! Thanks for the info!

Yes, I also read the exact opposite about pineapple, that it should be avoided because it can act as an abortifacient/emmenegogue if unripe. So make sure it is plenty ripe.

http://www.e2121.com/food_db/viewher...=192&setlang=1
"Reported to be abortifacient (induces the expulsion of an embryo or foetus), .... ecbolic (promotes the expulsion of the contents of the uterus) ... emmenagogue (promotes the menstrual discharge) ... Pineapple juice from unripe fruits acts as a violent purgative, and is also anthelmintic and ecbolic. Ripe fruit juice is diuretic, but in large doses may cause uterine contractions."

http://www.ciat.cgiar.org/ipgri/frui...0pineapple.htm
"Modern studies have confirmed the emmenagogue and abortifacient effects of green pineapple."

http://www.mothernature.com/Library/...ooks/41/10.cfm
"I should also note that fruits and roots with enzymes that break down protein (proteolytics) are folkloric emmenagogues. These include figs, ginger, papaya and pineapple."

ok, so here again it seems, at any point during ttc a temp shift can mean pg, or a temp dip...spotting can mean pg..or af...pineapple can help, pineapple can hurt. sounds like the moral of the story is don't consume anything in excess and don't assume anything until you get a + test!! this is where i am right now! everything either means one thing or the opposite! no one really knows much other than their own experience, and i've never been pg before!
