Sky- I think its really good you are going to put the clomid on hold until you see the specialist in Jan. Each step down this road is hard. Its OK to come complain, its OK to come lurk, its even OK to make random weird posts (I feel like I do all of them at times)

Celeste- Can't wait to see that hair! I bet you look so cool~ I cut my hair short last month, and it felt so freeing- like I could be a new person with my new hair. I hope yours makes you feel exciting and new! Oh, and I do not believe for a minute your shoulders are feeble- I am sure you are going to ROCK at work! (a person can't go through this hell and not be made of steel~ you are so strong, I'm sure you can handle anything they throw at you)

Lesliesara- It is good you are seeing the RE. Really. I hope you can take your dh with you, I know for me, that helps. I'm dragging him to the ob/gyn next week- I'm sure he's thrilled, but he married me for "better or worse", and since he likes the better parts, he'll deal. And that way he will be able to help me make a choice if there is one needed.

And Celeste is right- we don't need to feel guilty about our feelings towards the ubber fertile.... I say as long as you don't throw poo, its OK (sorry if you don't get it, Madagascar reference)

Thank you all for being here! I've gotten to where I have moments and I think "I need to go share with my ttc girls" Its so nice to just be understood. I have some friends who are sympathetic, but just don't understand what this is like, even though I hate the thought of others feeling like this, its comforting too, to know some of you understand how I feel.

I'm so sorry everyone is having such a tough time right now. I definately identify with all of the feelings that have been shared. I just wanted to give virtual hugs to everyone and let you know that even though I don't post too often I am here reading and following you girls many times a day, most of the time I just don't know what to say.

Most of the feelings shared by others are the same things I feel and are what have made me so hesitant to believe in this cycle. Even though I am now 17dpo with high temps and lots of symptoms I have not let myself test. I did look up what my due date would be yesterday and swore that jinxd me and that I would find af as a punishment for being hopeful. Anyway, I'll test tomorrow, 18dpo. If it is positive I don't know what I'll do. I've waited over two years and have in my head that I will *never see a positive test, like it's just not possible for two lines to appear on those tests. Man, I really don't know what I'll do if I'm actually pregnant before my sister has her baby next month. That was one of the time lines I gave myself, I just can't believe it might actually happen.

Thanks for listening.

[QUOTE=lesliesara63] Astrid..I'm so sorry. You know I kept track of how far I'd be until about four months and then again when the baby would have been due. Its hard, but things do get better. I don't know any of your IF history but did you get pregnant on your own? Were you working in Windsor or going to school?
QUOTE]

My husband was working in Windsor so we came out to stay with him for the winter. We left when the bugs came back (we were living by the river so the bugs in our basement suite were nasty!)
My IF history in short is I tried for 3 1/2 years before I had my lap done and endo was found. Dr. burned it off (or whatever they do) and I got pregnant on my own 3 months later. So I really should have hope but now my fear is that I won't be able to stay pregnant.

I feel at this point in my life I'm not trying to conceive. More like I'm praying for a miracle.

I am still feeling sorry for myself about Wed. That should have been me announcing my pregnancy to my friends and getting all the congrats and good wishes : : This is the only place I could say this sentence "out loud" and not worry that people will think I'm rude or selfish or strange.

Celeste, I'll agree with you too As always, your words bring me peace.

Laura My "future date" is Christmas. Every Christmas I think that I'll at least be pregnant by the next one and I never am. This year will by my 5th Christmas thinking that.

marie, your chart looks good and symptoms sound great!

: Well dd and I caught a cold that started Wed. and we are supposed to go camping with friends tomorrow. I am trying so hard to get rid of it. I really want to go but I don't want to get our friends sick. I guess we'll see how we feel in the morning.

And does anyone know if having a cold decreases your chances of getting pg? I haven't had a fever, just a sinus cold with a mild sore throat. I am right around ovulation now.

There's so much to reply to this morning! I agree with celeste that we should have a pajama party and laugh and cry and talk. Too bad we don't all live closer.

Sorry I'm not up for personals this morning...but honestly you all mean so much to me! It's amazing how great all of you are!

Well I ended up testing last night after a 3 hour nap because I just couldn't wait. It was positive! I'm still in disbelief that it actually happened after two years of trying. This was my second round of clomid. Last month I was sure it worked and this month I was sure it wouldn't, shows how much I know

I'm really glad for the good news since I'm doing a belly cast for my sister this afternoon, that would have been hard un pregnant.

It feels really weird to say "i'm pregnant"

Good luck to you all, and I will keep reading along at your progress. You are all wonderful women who are going to make wonderful mommas real soon!

Yesterday I watched the movie the Secret (if anyone is curious there is a whole thread about it in Spirituality or pm me), and it was really uplifting for me. I've decided to try again to Feng Shui the house to encourage a baby to come to me. I tried to Feng-shui our apartment we used to live in, and the Child/creativity area was in a closet and an open walkspace, so it really didn't work great. Here isn't a lot better (partway in the laundry room for the house, and the bathroom door of my bedroom), but I'm going to work on it. Yesterday I got some scrapbook stuff and a new picture frame and made a collage about a baby... and put the picture frame of my "art" on the dresser in the right part of the bedroom... now I'm hunting on line to find some art to hang on the walls. I also have rearranged some of the art in the house. BTW- dh is still out of town, and heaven knows what all I'll change before he gets home However, he loved fung-shui last time I did it, because it does involve cleaning the house.

Laura: Have fun w/ the Feng Shui. Maybe I should look into it - dh would love a clean house.

Surf Mama: I hope you're feeling better!!

to everyone else.

I think I wrote that I'm on all of those supplements from my naturopath. They seem to be working because I've been on a : : : jag for the last few days. It's not fun, but it's positive, I think. Forget that I feel like I'm 14 again. It's keeping dh on his toes.

Random thoughts on a Sunday night...

Bought a new Clearblue Ovulation Predictor kit today...I'm on cd9. It's been months since serious TTC. Thanks to Red Oak Mama for the Pre-Seed!!

All three of the other women I did IVF with are now pregnant (we shared a thread on Infertility). One got pregnant during the IVF cycle and the other two got pregnant with frozen embryo transfers. I'm happy for them and feeling sorry for me (honesty isn't pretty, is it).

Tomorrow is my birthday. I can't believe I'm going to be 38. Most women my age have grade-school-age kids. It doesn't feel right. I think I'm going to go back to 36 instead. Dh turns 36 in October; time for us to be the same age for awhile. REally, really, I don't feel like 38. I'd like to say I don't look 38 either, but that sounds terribly immodest. Oh what the hell.

Is anyone else watching Deadwood? Don't you hope Bullock and Alma Garrett get together one last time? Am I the only one living precariously through TV romances? Is that a bad thing?

ok, time for bed. Love to all. And it's good to hear from you, Yo Becca.

Leslie, : #36!!! I hope you have a really special day today!

Every year is hard for me, too. I remember turning 23 and thinking "by this time, my mom already had me" and it was terribly depressing. I'm 11 years beyond that mark now and it sucks. As the years in my 30s pass, it only hurts more. Hopefully this year will be the one for you. Hopefully when you have your baby in your arms, it won't matter what age your friends' kids are.

I had a really hard weekend... sounds like you and I were thinking about some of the same things, Leslie. I finally wrote about a fraction of it last night on my LJ, but I had to keep it friends only because it's so shameful. I hope I didn't hurt anyone in that post. I think it's something of a delayed reaction to the m/c. Also, my haircut turns out to be a wee bit unmanageable. I just can't make it look right. I am exceedingly frustrated by it.

fierr, good luck with all of the changes. like you said, at least you're keeping your dh on his toes!

Yeah Marie congratulations!!!!!! I wish you the easiest nine months ever!

Hugs to everyone, is mercury retrograde or something??? it seems everyone is struggling with something or other...I hope it all smoothes over soon.

OT dirty little secret: I rent "chick" movies when dh is out of town. Saturday I watched Rumor has it, which is fun if not surprising in any of the plot items. Then last night, I had the best surprise in a while with Elizabethtown. It is romantic, but also quite deep and whimsical and touching. I have a big crush on Orlando Bloom now! I highly recommend it (except if issues around fathers death/funerals might upset you-but it's not dark).

Oh, Leslie in C: Happy 26th birthday!

Here's to a better week for all,

M

Ladies I have a question hopefully you can answer. My appt with the RE is Wednesday. I've been told that he'll likely prescribe Clomid as a first step. Wednesday will be cd5. Should I go ahead and go for it, or give acupuncture another month. Or do both? I'm seeing my acupuncturist today so I'll ask her. My RE has a reputation for not wanting to work with people who also seek natural treatments so I really don't want to go there with him. I know Clomid is a real beginner thing, but that's where I'm at so its making me kind of nervous.

Leslie Happy Birthday!! I'll go even lower and give you 34! I really hope this is your year.

Celeste sorry you had such a bad weekend. Try to remember your own advice and not feel bad about having "bad" feelings. Good luck with the haircut. I find with every new hairstyle I have to re-learn how to do it.

Laura I don't know much about feng-shui but I'm making room for baby in our house. I found some beautiful yellow cartoon, drawer liner at Crabtree & Evelyn. Also I'm clearing the junk from our spare room to make it a baby room - even though the baby will be in our room for a long time.

Hope everyone else is having a good day.

Laura- the Feng Shui sounds like a productive and calming step! Good luck with it! You'll have to post some pictures...I'm very curious about the whole thing (but too lazy to do much myself .

fierrbugg- glad that the supplements seem to be worth the trouble. The keeping dh on his toes part is funny! Maybe there is a balance with the whole infertility thing. It seems that so often women are the ones that have to deal with meds, surgery, invasive procedures, etc. I guess the men have to deal with us dealing with that, aye?

Leslie in Chicago- Happy Birthday!! I'm exicted for you about the Clearblue Ovulation Predictor...hopefully it will make everything a little clearer.

celesterra- Hugs to you!!! I'm sorry that this weekend was a rough one. It sounds like the journaling really helped you get some of it out. I admire your head on approach to dealing with everything. It is inspiring.

lesliesara63- What a tough decision! I think I would check to see how closely your RE is going to be monitoring your cycle. Also, if you don't want to try clomid this month, you probably want to tell the RE...it may affect the timeline you are on since most people don't stay on clomid for more than 4-6 cycles. The RE may also try to increase the dose if you don't ovulate but he/she thinks that you are on clomid (the interpretation being that the dose wasn't high enough to make you ovulate). I don't know if this makes too much sense or helps in any way, but good luck and keep us updated!!

Hello!!
I have my eye surgery in less than an hour (YIKES!!). I'm excited but also ready for it to be over.

I mentioned before that I had been referred to an infertility specialist and that the earliest appointment I could schedule was in late January! I just received a call this morning from the clinic saying that there was a last minute cancelation and offering me an appointment at 11:00 tomorrow!!! Of course I snatched it up!! It is going to be a whirlwind of two days, but it feels great to know that we will be getting things rolling so much sooner than expected!!

Sky- What a wonderfully excting week! I"m thinking good thoughts for you!

Lesliesara- If it were me, I would be willing to do the clomid with the accupuncture if the accupuncturist was willing, and I just wouldn't tell the OB- since he isn't natural freindly. I mean, if you are going to see the RE and he really thinks clomid will help.... But it is a decision- if you decide not to do it this month, I would bet you can just tell him you would rather wait until the next cycle, and never even mention the accupuncture. Also, some people start clomid on day 3 anyway.... it is stressful making these choices.

Leslie in C- Happy Birthday!

Celeste- Don't feel guilty for your feelings.

May-lily- I do that too! I rent movies dh would hate while he's out of town. Right now dd is asleep and dh will get back on a plane tonight, so I need to go watch the Gwyneth Paltro movie I rented a few days ago. Thanks for the tip on Elizabethtown.

fierrbugg- mood swing suck! I hope they bode good things for you!

OK, update on my fengshui- my bedroom was sorely underdecorated, and it lies in my wealth area- so I got burgendy curtains, and a asian looking bed quilt with purples, pinks and reds. I also got a shower curtain to match for the masterbath (it only had a clear one) and I got a picture of 2 magnolia blossoms to put in the romance area of the bedroom. So my bedroom exudes romance now. I also moved some pictures in the living room so the are baby pictures in the children and creativity area of the house, now I need art of children or babies for the bedroom- but I really don't want Anne Geddes babies watching me and dh on the bed.... so I gotta think about that one.
Tomorrow I see my ob and ask for clomid- so right there with you Lesliesara and Sky.

Peace,

Laura, Mama to Mya 7/02, Ian 6/07 and Anna 8/09

Laura did you ever get in quickly! Good luck at your appointment today. I'm probably just overthinking things right now. I'd have to wait two months if I don't start Clomid right away since I'll be on vacation at the beginning of October. It just seems like so much time has already been wasted. Where do you read about feng shui? Your decorating sounds very nice.

Sky - that's awesome that you got a cancellation so quickly! Good luck at your appointment.

Leslie - let us know what you think of your new OPK's. Are they OPK's or a fertility monitor?

I'm wavering back and forth and dh is no help. His answer was "I don't know" so I'm not too pleased with him. It just seems like he isn't participating at all except showing up with the sperm!!!! Hopefully we'll have a chance to talk tonight.

What a whirlwind day...and it's not even half over. The clinic was wonderful. It had a calm and peaceful environment. Also, there was no waiting around once there. They wisked you wherever you needed to be. While driving home, I was shocked to find that we had been there for less than an hour. During that time, they did an ultrasound of my ovaries, did a semen anaysis on dh (normal-yeah!), took 6 vials of blood from me, and consulted with us about the possible avenues we have and our insurance. The Dr. found a good sized follicle currently on one ovary (wierd, since af is due any day) and evidence of mild PCOS. They are checking on my progesterone to see if we can catch the egg that is there. If so, they'll do another u/s tomorrow and if it is mature enough I'll have an hcg trigger shot and they'll inseminate on Thurs.

If we can't use that egg, I'll be back on clomid with monitoring (yeah!) next month. They'll also do a dye test to check my tubes and when/if I have a follicle during the cycle, they'll to hcg and insemination.

WOW! My head is spinning. I never thought things would go so quickly! I hope everybody is doing well today! Can't wait to hear some updates!!

Sky sounds like a great appointment! They did a SA right then & there? You didn't have to go through a lab. How do they get the results so soon? You must feel so great to have something happening. Is this your first experience with a fertility clinic or is it old news to you? Also how was your eye surgery? In the excitement over your appt I forgot to ask.

Laura I hope you have an equally satisfying appointment!

I must say that I'm so happy to have this board where people don't mind talking about TTC every day. I might go crazy otherwise.

what a hoppin' week!

lesliesara~ Is this your first appt with the RE? Usually they start with the "workup" of tests, monitoring an entire cycle without drugs to see if they can figure out what's going on. If he gives you the option of starting Clomid this month, I'd go for it. Esp since next month is out. But as someone else said, you'll start it right away. When I did Clomid I took it cd5 - cd9. He might not let you start though if he wants a "baseline", a blood test and ultrasound that is usually done on cd3. I'd keep on with the acupuncture. No need to tell the RE. Many RE's are now encouraging acupunc since "scientific studies" have shown it to have a positive effect. The only thing I wouldn't mix is Clomid and raw Chinese medicine herbs -- you wouldn't know which was working (or not). Oh and Clearblue is the poas ovulation predictor. I've used it before and it does seem to work. Dh springs into action when we get the two blue lines, which is always nice...

sky~ did you have Lazik? How'd it go? Are you seeing ok? Soooo amazing to get to the RE's office right away -- total bonus! Let us know what happens with the follie.

Laura~ your room sounds fabulous!! We got cable TV a few months ago and I'm addicted to all the interior design/room makeover shows. They make it look so easy, but it can be time-consuming. Sounds like you added just the right touches.

Celeste~ I got two words for you, my friend: iron and products. As in straightening iron and hair products. Send me a pic, I'll tell you which to use and where. They work *wonders*!! I'll send you a pic of me to demonstrate -- before and after if I have the nerve. My hair is a mess if left to its own devices. I had to learn to do all this somewhere around 30, when I actually began to care. Happy to pass on what I learned.

thanks for all the happy b-day wishes! and blessings to all who shaved off the years with lower numbers...
