I know that green tea helps to thin CM and it actually does so pretty quickly. How long do you find that the thinning effects tend to last? Like if I drink green tea in the morning or late afternoon will it still be doing its thing that evening? TIA
Good question! I don't know. I drink it every day just because it's healthy, not sure if I've noticed any changes in my CM, though. I'd love to hear others' experiences, though. Like, how much do you drink? I only drink one cup a day, in the morning.
i've been drinking 1-3 cups a day for the last three weeks. while i haven't noticed any "thinning", i do have a lot MORE cm than usual. and i notice the greatest increase in the late afternoon/evening. i occasionally drink it during the day, but mostly at night, after dinner.
Thanks. All right, so if you drink in the evening and then notice it the next day, late afternoon/evening, then maybe morning would give the best late evening effects. That is, if my body processes it at about the same rate.
I read that you may want to limit green tea to 2 or less cups a day. The mechanism by which it helps to prevent cancer also reduces folic acid absorption.
Because of the folic acid thing I just drink it like crazy pre-O and then stop or drastically cut back post-O. Until the egg implants nothing you do is really affecting it growing. So I figure I have 7-10 days once I O to get my folic acid levels back up.
Oh and to answer the original question I drink it all day long. I make it into iced sweet tea and it is sooo yummy. I do notice more of the cm in the evening though and I tend to drink the most in the morning and afternoon.
Just wanted to add that I made a point to take my prenatal vitamin as far from the green tea as I could. I drank it in the am and take my prenatals with dinner.
Just wanted to mention that I am also doing the green tea thing. I cut out coffee for awhile several months ago and my CM increased immensely then missed coffee and came back. So now I am drinking green tea everyday in hopes of increasing it again.
Been doing a lot of herbal research as I am a vitamin/supplement junkie and found this in an article at Babycenter:
One small Stanford University study of a nutritional supplement containing green tea extract, chasteberry, folic acid, and a host of other vitamins and minerals showed promising results.
In the study, published in the April 2004 issue of the Journal of Reproductive Medicine, a third of the 15 women taking the supplement were pregnant after five months, while none of the 15 women taking a placebo had conceived. But the study is too small to say for sure that this supplement improves fertility. And the researchers don't point specifically to the green tea extract as having a significant affect.
I drink between 1 and three cups a day from af to O. It is one of the only things (besides epo) that helps with cm for me(i'm naturally quite dry) I think for me it helps me both produce more and thins it a bit. You can actually do red or white tea too, which i like to add every few days cause i get sick of the green. And for those of you who hate it, really, you do learn to tolerate, or even like it! I hated it with a passion when ttc dd, but kept doing it. Eight months later i actually liked it!
And i drink mine mostly all in the mid morning to early afternoon, and i still have lots of cm that night.
jillybeans--> I'm glad you posted what you did ... I'm also naturally dry
. I think I'm going to work in my green tea more during the day and see if that helps. Even if I can't produce gobs of EWCM, I would like to at least be able to dtd without lube
I also cut the coffee and started decaf green tea. I love it we have a lot of places where you can oder it on line I found one that is so good. It green tea with aloe with dried pinapple chunks. I drink lots and lots I am taking clomid and that really dried me up. The green tea seems to help. I am also taking flax seed oil and epo and Guiaffisin to help with the ewcm. This month I had a little, last month none, just wcm.
greengrey wish you knew what the supplement is called in England! Would be great to know.
This is the first I've heard of green tea helping. Interesting! DH and I are just starting to cut out all artificial sweeteners in hopes it helps, and I've been drinking decaf iced green tea instead.
I'm a little confused, though, HOW it helps with conception??
