I'm a little confused here - I just got TCOYF from the library, but I thought I'd ask here as well.

I felt definite ovulation pain on CD14 on the left ovary. It lasted for probably 24-36 hours. THEN - the next day or the day after, I started with EWCM.

At which point is the egg released?

I have OPKs, but I think I'm in tune to my body enough to judge ovulation - I am just hoping to do natural gender selection and would like to pinpoint ovulation (or peak fertility, really) to a precise time frame.

Thanks!!

O pain can be so confusing! I think in the book TCOYF, she states that the problem with it is that you can't really tell if it is before, during or after ovulation.

Just to confuse things, I definitely have some fertile looking cm after O too. i have to distinguish it from the very watery, wet cm of O.

The only way to really know is to chart your temps for a few months and see what that O pain or cm is telling you about where you are in your cycle. Then you could know if your pattern is fairly regular or if it's more difficult to predict O and plan your natural gender selection from that.

Good luck!

I second Oceanone's reccommendation of charting. That combined with the OPKs will give you a more precise (not that there is such a thing when it comes to Oing) picture of what is going on.

The key really is knowing what is normal for you. I can see my cervical fluid getting progressively more wet and then it changes pretty drastically once I O.

Cervical position is a great way to tell. Again, mine is nice and soft and open until I o and then again, a drastic change one I have O'ed.

My O pain always seems to be right when I O...but who knows, I haven't managed to get pg yet, so I could be WAY off...which I suspect is the case.

Good luck, I am not sure I helped at all.: I hope I did.
