I've never heard of these Diva cups, but I'm about to look them up.

cking - I don't think the "bad" ones are spun out, though I guess the weaker ones probably don't make it through the whole process, though. First, the donors are carefully screened. They have to be free of genetic disorders, undergo disease testing for various diseases like HIV, and be available over time. The sperm also go through a lot--they're quarantined for 180 days while the donor is tested, they're washed somehow, and they're frozen and thawed. That's a lot for something so tiny to go through!

FiberLover - thanks for the welcome. I hope your cycles return to normal quickly. And good luck with the Llama.

We made it to the weekend!

Christina - happy bd'ing this weekend! Instead of "you go girl" I'll wish you "you O girl!" Commercial Crazies sounds kinda fun. I'm getting tired of our old standbys: Yahtzee and Texas Hold'em... I loved my clothesline - it broke like two years ago and we have not fixed it b/c our kitchen remodel took over our lives.... Good for you!

SarahJen - Wow! You definitely O'd! Now, to temp or not to temp, that is the question! I'll probably start temping again tomorrow since I'll be CD6 (after a 4 day break). I don't like temping anymore! Maybe I'll stop altogether...? Nah... Hard decision, isn't it!?

I'm intrigued about the Keeper/Diva Cup conversation. Do you all think it would work with super seriously light periods? My beef is this: Since I have a total of maybe 1/4 cup of discharge monthly (is that gross to say!?) why can't it all come out at once instead of trickling out over 5 days!? WTF??

Xenon - I'm so sorry you were weepy this morning. Is DH supportive and sweet when you are upset? Hopefully the tulips, not working Monday and the visit with the in-laws (??) will help cheer you up and keep your mind off "things!"

Kiya - you have some list for the weekend, woman! : "Kitchen remodel" has been on my weekend list for a whole year now! We're still not done! If you feel so inclined, I'd love to see some photos. Happy O to you! Can't hurt to get a little more bd'ing this weekend!

Jentina - interesting... I can see how that would not be all that romantic! Guess you can have some romance before or after for some spiritual/loving symbolism... BD'ing the uh, man/woman, way is not always romantic either for us... Like when my DH had to work til 3 am and woke me when he got home - both of us tired as h3ll and annoyed at "having" to BD when we didn't feel like it! Since the sperm is being spun, can you pick the sex of the baby? (I'm glad you're not offended by my questions - as you may already know, we have a TMI-free zone here!)

Michelle - so glad you are feeling better.

Michelle - you must have a 7-day weekend planned! Wow, talk about productive (or optimistic!!?) (I have been waiting for some slight opportunity to use that darling sheep smilie!)

shearing the llama... hee hee hee! (Think Beavis and Butthead)

Aimee - sorry you got a BFN. Just when you thought the waiting was over, now you have to wait for AF even longer! Could it be your period is late b/c you are stressed about ttc?

Well, I talked to the nurse at my OB/GYN today. She said we'll just talk to the dr next week (about my cycle, etc) and then the dr will probably order a semen analysis for DH and a CD3 blood test for me. Too bad I have to wait over 3 weeks for CD3 (today is CD5)! Maybe I'll be PG by then???

I'm a bachelorette tomorrow while DH golfs and watches men beat each other on TV with some friends. I'll probably do some woodworking, paperwork and probably reading and making some phone calls. It's nice sometimes to have the day to yourself. Sunday we're having dinner with friends and watching a Planet Earth episode on their big screen HDTV. Anyone heard of this show? It's supposed to be really cool.

Well, again, I've been long-winded! See ya'll later!!

Morning, mamas!

It's gorgeous and sunny here... hopefully likewise where you all are.

Michelle, I hope you've got the sunshine for your llama-shearing (tee hee) and culvert-clearing. I have a bunch of cloth pads that I sewed myself -- they're really comfortable, so I can only imagine how nice actual professional ones would be! Highly recommended.

Aimee, boo for the BFN. Jen's might be right, though -- if you're under stress, you can ovulate late and extend your cycle. Yet another good reason to chart!

Christina, I also use the over-30 Diva Cup (bought when I was still 29). It works fine, but I sometimes think I would have been better off with the smaller one (I think it's 1/4" smaller in diameter?), since there are some days that I just CANNOT get this one to fit comfortably. Otherwise, of course, it rocks

Jentina, so, since you're using washed sperm, can you choose if you want to do intrauterine insemination instead of intracervical? Maybe you'd need a midwife/doctor to help with the IUI? Also, thanks for being so forthcoming... I'm learning new stuff every day around here!

Jen, DH is pretty great when I'm weepy/irrational/etc. Yesterday morning I asked him to phone and book his SA, since, after finding out that they couldn't book us until July, we had neglected to set one up. He called and booked one for next week! This involves paying out-of-pocket instead of having it covered, which I am in theory opposed to (for reasons beyond frugality)... but in reality, YAY, we're getting this ball rolling!

And, yes, the weekend should be lovely. I like my in-laws, and I like tulips

Your weekend sounds excellent! What kind of woodworking do you do? Sunday should be fun, too... I've never seen Planet Earth, but whatever it is, it'll look great in HDTV. I used to think that HDTV was a stupid conspiracy to make people buy new TVs. Then we bought one, and I realized that HDTV is an AWESOME conspiracy to make people buy new TVs

Thanks everyone for your experiences with divacups. I’m glad I’m not the only one who has thought about this. I guess the idea that the over 30 size would be too big or uncomfortable is really what has worried me. Then, of course, I didn’t want to invest in something I wouldn’t need for a while since we were ttc. But it’s time for me to stop putting things off, yk?

Jencat, I’m not sure about the flow (I haven’t used one yet) but that’s a concern of mine too. Recently for me af has been two very heavy days following by two or three extremely light days. So I haven’t even wanted to wear tampons b/c I feel too crampy on the heavy days. So I guess I’ll see how it goes. They are ½ price on this co-op so I guess I’ll give it a try.

Xenon, way to go for DH scheduling his test! Did he schedule it with the clinic directly? We still haven’t scheduled anything, but I did order a kit to take at home and send in to a lab. It is supposed to arrive on Tuesday, right in time for my fertile window. Of course, right when I need that sperm. I guess if he gets low results from that, then we’ll schedule a dr appt.

So, xenon, has your weepiness lifted? How are you doing today?

Well, it looks like we’re not really going to be BDing this weekend…the monitor still says low. So I guess it’s delayed O again. Which isn’t a big deal, but for several months after I started herbs and supplements, I was doing well, Oing on cd14-16. Now I’m back to delayed O with 12 day LP. But really, if after taking this saliva test, I find out that low Prog is the problem, I’ll be somewhat relieved.

I totally agree with this, since we got our HDTV last year I watch things I'd normally never watch just because it looks so damn good.

On the subject of the diva cups, at the risk of beating that horse anymore... a couple of things I love about it since I started using it. Measure, there's markers on it so you can actually tell how much is there which is great for my OCD counting and quantifying, and yes, I have charted this . All kidding aside, I thought I had a much lighter flow than I actually do when I could properly measure it. Light days, not a problem. Where a tampon is excruciating to remove on a lighter-than-you-expected the diva is the same as on a normal day, I've even used it on an only spotting day. And if you find it uncomfortable make sure you're pushing it towards the back, not upwards - I find if it goes in wrong (upwards) it makes me feel like I have to pee but can't, presumably because it's pushing against my bladder in some way.

Have a great weekend everyone, I'm not doing anything so fun as shearing a llama but I am going to do some gardening and spend some time in the sun

Hi Ladies,
Just wanted to check in and say I was still here and we are still trying. We have decided to take this month off (kind-of) due to some health issues with me. We just put a contract on a house Thursday and are looking forward to moving at the end of June. Then we will really be ready to start filling that house up!

Jen and xenon, you might be right, maybe I am a little stressed. Now I am stressed about being stressed.

Well, still no AF. I am leaving for a conference this afternoon, so won't be able to check the thread. I hope you all have a great week!!

Hey, beautiful ladies!

Just checking in to say hi and to see how everyone is doing. It looks like a number of your are gearing up to or have just ovulated. I am continuing to think about all of you and am hoping and praying we see lots of BFPs in the coming days and weeks. I noticed that every month since December, this thread has celebrated anywhere from two to six (!) BFPs. Since this thread has relatively few members, odds are looking pretty good ladies. I feel like there's going to be a LOT of celebrating in May!

Aimee, I am sorry about your BFN, but hopefully, it was just a bit too soon. :

Xenon, oh Xenon ... I like that chart. I like it very much.

You are all always in my heart and my mind!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Xenon - are you late??? How'd you make it through the weekend?? Did you stay *neutral*? I'm so glad your DH has an appt with doctor's office porn! The woodworking I was doing this weekend (and DH and I are doing pretty much every weekend) is the trim in our kitchen/laundry room. Unfortunately, between the two rooms we have 5 door trims that we need to strip, sand, stain and varnish before putting back up. They were painted white and we have to strip each piece with a heat gun and then some chemical stripper, sand with 3 types of sandpaper, pick the paint out of the holes and cracks with a scraper, varnish twice, stain, then varnish 5 more times. Then put it up in the house! Fun stuff!!! We have one door trim almost done. It'll be at least a few more weekends... sigh.

Aimee - try not to stress about being stressed sweetie! Lot easier said than done, right!? Hope your conference goes well. We'll be waiting to hear what happens...

Angie - congratulations on the new house!

Planet Earth on HDTV didn't happen. Probably for the better. I'm trying to watch LESS TV, not MORE!

Just found out a friend of mine has been having contractions all day! I'm on call to watch their 2 year old when they go to the hospital.

Enjoy the rest of Sunday everyone....

That's awesome. : for lots of BFPs!

As for me, cd14 and the computer still says low. I'm starting to wonder if I'm peeing on it wrong. Last month I alternated between POAS and PIAC because sometimes the cup is easier.

But I also haven't been taking my herbal cycle support (the store is out of them) so I'm wondering if that is having an effect.

Happy Monday! Sure was a busy weekend! DH and I power washed and restained our deck, had 3 yards of rock delivered to replace the mulch in our flower beds, and did other yard work around the house. I'm pooped! Glad to be back at work (well maybe!).

Christina-- I never POAS, I always put it in a cup and dip it for 15-20 seconds--I could never be consistant with the amount when trying to hold it in the stream. At first, DH wondered why I had a measuring cup in the bathroom--it is really easy with that handle!

I'm now on my 2WW. I'm not holding out too much hope this month, I think we didn't BD enough! I think I need to go out and buy a few "movies" to help get us frisky on the days we need to DTD!

Have a wonderful week!

Kharen!!! How are you mama? How ya feeling?

Sarah - oooh, now I'm neutral about your chart!!

Aimee - How'd your conference go? Did AF show?

Xenon - Are you out there? I hope everythings okay - you aren't sitting on a BFP like Ms. Kharen did, are ya?

Nico!!!
- WOOOOTTT!! : :

Christina - oh, I could NEVER POAS!! I'd miss the stick and get my hand EVERY single time! Even when I say I'm POAS, I'm really PIAC - besides I like to see how concetrated the urine is - that seems to help some.

Judy - for you!! Sperm can live up to 3 days in fertile CM, so you still have a chance!!

Emily! How are ya???

I'm doing good - had a GREAT weekend, got some BD'ing in, built two kitchen islands and two bookcases, and I think I O'd!! Early, even! Whoohoooo!!

The mystery of life isn't a problem to solve, but a reality to experience.

Hey guys! I have been lurking, just a little bit. DH and I decided to take it easy on TTC towards the end of March. Keeping such close track of everything was starting to make us both feel a little stressed out. I mostly stopped charting for the last month and was only tracking fertility signs when they were too obvious to miss. I guess relaxing about it was exactly what we needed, because it hit me towards the end of last week that AF was late. We waited until Sunday to test and it was a totally clear BFP! I wanted to log in an give a little update -- you guys are quick! I'm already on the graduates list!

We are really excited, but cautiously so. We shared the news with my parents and my sister but are waiting until after I see my doctor to tell his parents. Doesn't quite seem real, you know?

Thanks for the congratulations, ladies!

Nico, that's wonderful. I'm so glad it worked out for you. I hope you don't mind that I moved you to the graduates list already -- I was just so darn excited to move my first graduate!

Wishing you thoughts and a HH9M!

Judy and Kiya - well, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has trouble poas. I can't understand why the instrutions say you have to hold it in the cup for 15-20 seconds to saturate the stick, but only 3-5 seconds in the urine stream. Guess I'll stick with the cup.

Judy, I think your timing was pretty good. It only takes once. And the day before peak is very good timing - I think first day you get a peak on the fertility monitor is more likely the peak day than the second. Does that make any sense?

Time for some personals ...

Nico, congratulations!!!! : That’s wonderful news! I’m so glad taking a laidback approach was the key for you.

I know what you mean! I think I’m only about a week or two ahead of you, and it’s just now starting to set in. It’ll become more real as the days and weeks go on.

Kiya, my goodness are you a multi-tasker! You got a tremendous amount done this weekend, and hopefully made a baby on top of it! Woo hoo!

Sarah, that was a lovely temp shift you had! And great timing!

Xenon, I hope everything is okay! :

Judy, it sounds like you had a very busy weekend, too. We have some very industrious ladies here! I’ve seen/heard of many cases in which someone has got pregnant five days before they’ve O’ed. Kiya is right—sperm can hang on for quite a long time.

Christina and other cup-dippers—You are very smart indeed! Funny story: When I was in the midst of disbelief and taking an excessive number of tests to confirm, I completely invalidated one of the tests because I peed on the test window! It was a different brand than I had been using, and I was so hasty in peeing because I was so anxious to see the result that I messed up! The control line didn’t even show, and I wasted perfectly good pee! So dip away!

Aimee, thinking about you. I hope AF didn’t show.

Jen, good luck to your friend. I hope she has a safe and happy labor!

Welcome, Jentina!

Welcome back, Angie!

Emily, hi! I hope you’re doing well!

I'm doing well. Thanks for asking, Kiya. I'm 6 weeks 1 day now and just hanging out and keeping my fingers crossed until we get an ultrasound to make sure everything is okay about 4 weeks from now. Awww, Kripa, you can still come hang out from time to time, Emily, Dee, and Kharen do!

Nico CONGRATULATIONS! Yay! Happy, Healthy, pregnancy and baby vibes!

And yep, it didn't feel real to me for at least a few weeks, so give yourself some time!

Kharen
I'm sure the little one is safe and healthy, but doesn't it seem to be forever to get the first appoinments?

Christina I love your enthusiasm!

Kiya Wow! Sounds like you guys had an excellent, excellent weekend! Busy, and productive, and maybe reproductive!

Judy Have a good 2ww, and yep, it only takes one BD! So, fingers crossed!

jencat Hope your friend's birth went well! I sent good vibes her way .

Sarah That is exactly why I like the Diva cups too, they fit my OCD brain in quantifying AF!

Xenon Where are you? I'm stalking your chart...

Me. Well, no shearing. It SNOWED here on Saturday, and you can't shear wet llamas or sheep, so we're on hold with that. Likewise we didn't get all the outside stuff done that we wanted either. Four posts set in concrete for the garden and orchard fences, and that's it!

I did laundry, carded wool batts up, cleaned out my fiber room, and dreamed about things to knit and spin.

It was a good weekend.

And...I think I'm done bleeding. Only the tiniest hint of spotting now, no more cramps. So I temped today for the first time! I guess, I can be excited about TTC again.

Last Thursday, I got accepted to law school. The school also gave me a $21,000 scholarship. I am excited, but now not sure what to think about ttc. I am probably going to not tta or ttc for a couple of months and then ttc again starting in August. Classes are over for the year in mid-April and final exams are over by May 2. So if I conceive in August or September this year, I could give birth in May or June and have a couple of months at home before classes began again.

Since high school, I have wanted to do environmental work of some sort. The law school I will be attending, Barry University, is a cosponsor of a new Center for Earth Jurisprudence. I feel like this is exactly what I am meant to do. But I also feel that I am meant to be a mother.

I have been working on these two goals -- getting into law school and ttc -- and have just been taking the next step for each one, not sure how it will all work out, but having faith that if everything happens, we'll figure it out. So, although I am very excited about law school, I am a little ambivalent because I don't know what to think about ttc right now.

Yep, yep, yep! Once upon a time there was no graduates thread so people just hung around here. I suspect quite a few grads are still lurking without posting. This is such a supportive wonderful thread, it is hard not to get invested in the women here and want to hang around to spread love and (and smilie parades!).

Sorry about the weather Michelle. Sounds like you had a nice weekend anyway. However, I selfishly had to admit that I a little excited you didn't get to shear the llama because that means you have to keep it on your "to do" list which means you might once again have weekend plans that involve shearing the llama which you will of course share with us so that we can all giggle like 5 years old

PiePie might have more to say about this (being a lawyer herself) but in my opinion getting pg (and actually spending time with the babe) will be MUCH easier in school rather than when you get out. Almost all of the new lawyers I know work insane hours and hardly ever get to see their family. Good luck with the May timing (Taurus are my absolute favorites, 3 of my closest friends and my first true love boyfriend are all Tauruses. I totally wanted a Taurus baby).

Well, my friend had a baby boy yesterday! Alexander Christopher, 7 or 7 1/2 lbs (DH took the call so... he forgot as soon as he hung up!) This and her last baby were such easy deliveries, lucky woman! They were maybe going to come home today already!

Karen - congratulations on law school and your scholarship! Great job, woman!! I'm so happy to hear you're going to do something wonderful for the environment. I'm a serious tree-hugger and work in the recycling field myself.

Ok, another quote that I - for one - have no idea what it means! I think this might mean that you shear sheep, make wool thread and then knit clothing and such from it??? Very cool! Glad you're almost done bleeding and excited about ttc again!

Kharen - glad you're feeling good!

Kripa - how about you,how do you feel? Have you gotten the second ultrasound done that your dr wanted you to do (the ONLY one you agreed to!)

HOT here - almost 90 I think... ugh. Supposed to be one of the hottest summers ever here in SoCal. I'll have to break down and get a window A/C if not central air by then...

Nico, congratulations! : I love that your BFP came on a relaxed month (and that you didn't test until CD33!) Happy healthy nine months to you!

Karen, what fantastic news about law school and the scholarship! Congratulations! It's definitely going to be tough to figure out whether to keep TTC... like Emily, though, I might be inclined to say that having a baby while in school is tenable (but tough, of course!), since one of my close friends had her babies while in law school.

Michelle, yay for bleeding being over... let the GIO commence! Also, color me jealous that you have an orchard

Kharen, so glad you're doing well. I'm excited for your ultrasound, too

Kiya, do you have two islands in one kitchen? Such decadence! Sounds like you had a great weekend.

Judy, Christina is right -- it only takes once to get the job done.

Christina, stupid computer! I can't believe it's making you doubt your ability to pee

Jen, paint stripping! I did a very minor amount of that in our old house, and... ugh... especially on woodwork, with all its curves and contours and little niches that catch the paint. You are a woman of patience.

As for me, first I have to apologize, because I guess I didn't mention that we had to travel to see the in-laws. I've been away! The tulip festival was a bit of a bust, since most of the tulips weren't open yet, but it was a lovely trip regardless.

And, in TTC-related news, I am officially late. My normal LP length is 14 days, and today is 17DPO. Quite exciting! I've been a bit crampy on and off since Friday, so I keep thinking that AF is coming, although that concern is lessening day by day.

But I'm out of tests, so I have not peed on a stick.

DH is politely trying to convince me to POAS, so that he can cancel his SA tomorrow. He doesn't want to cancel the SA without a confirmed BFP. But for some reason, I'm nervous to test, so I'm trying to convince him that it's okay to postpone his SA, a nice neutral solution wherein it's not canceled, and we also haven't paid $150 for a moot test.

I will report back if there are any developments...

I've been feeling pretty bad. I got hit hard with what felt like the flu last Monday and it thankfully? settled into a head cold. It seemed to be seriously headed to my chest on Friday so I took the entire weekend off and spent it in bed. While I don't really feel better I no longer feel like it is getting worse each day. I might feel better today (there is definitely less snot today, ewww), it is just hard to determine what is cold and what is preggo yuckies. I was pretty exhausted but having trouble sleeping before I got the cold, so the cold hasn't helped that. I've been feeling one step away from nauseous the last couple of days. I haven't felt like eating until I actually sit down and eat. We'll see what I'm left with when I shake this cold.

But the fantastic news is that I did get that second u/s and they can say with 100% certainty that the baby is exactly where the baby belongs, the amount of growth between the first u/s and yesterdays is great, and......we saw the heartbeat. It was a beautiful flicker in what otherwise looked like a blob. My hubby was there with me and he loved being able to see that. And they were able to determine that I ovulated from my left ovary, meaning it traveled down my left tube which was the tube I had the issue with before, so I'd say it is working! Making me normal girl again instead of possible issue girl....lovin' it! I assume I'll get a call from my gyn's office today to tell me the results (that I already know from the tech) so hopefully they won't want anything further....'cause like I said, I'm done!
