We're planning to try for #2 in Oct and we will be trying for a girl. Our son will be 5 years old at that time. I'm planning on trying the Shettles Method and I will also do the Cranberry and Calcium/Magnesium. I had already planned on taking Calcium/Magnesium anyways so that's nothing new to add. I actually just ordered my prenatals, calcium, and magnesium a few days ago and I'll order the ph test strips and cranberry capsules a little closer to Oct. I've book marked all the "trying for a girl" methods so far and here's what I've come across and plan to use.

How to conceive a girl: The Shettles Method
http://www.babyhopes.com/how-to-conceive-a-girl.html

Girl Diet
http://www.geocities.com/genderdeter...n/girdiet.html

TTC Supplements
http://www.geocities.com/genderdeter...pplements.html

Acidifying Foods
http://www.geocities.com/genderdetermination/ph.html

When we conceived our son (unplanned) we dtd twice over the course of the weekend I ovulated. I did have an orgasm which is supposed to help towards conceiving a boy. Also, I wasn't taking cranberry, calcium, or magnesium at the time and I didn't eat much dairy. I was drinking white tea daily though which is also recommended for a boy conception.

This time I we plan to dtd every day from the end of AF till 3 days before ovulation. I've been charting for 3 years now and my cycle is pretty consistent (O on day 15 on average) so we should be able to get the timing right. I'll probably start taking the cranberry capsules a few week before we start TTC. My bf is going to try and give up coffee as well during that time and I'll stop drinking my daily tea.

I am interested in trying these methods out. My DS was conceived on O day and with the classic boy position and O and everything. We had planned to TTC next month but got very busy this month. I noticed my first day of EWCM yesterday and we DTD and I expect to O in the next few days so we're gonna hold off and see what happens. If I end up needing to try again next month I will be starting the cranberry and cal/mag! According to the Chinese birth chart this year I will conceive a girl this month or next month! So heres hoping (it was correct with my DS)

dh and i are doing a little shuttles- lots of dairy, some extra "girl diet" foods snuck in there, shallow penetration and no orgasms (for me) leading up to o (which sucks, btw). but once i thought i had already o'd we said "screw it" and had good sex for a change. so who knows?

Now that my AF is back, Dh and I are sorta vaguely trying for a girl, but every time I hear about the girl diet and the shettles method, I hear only about people for whom it did not work, which basically leads me back to the ole' luck o' the draw, aka, whoever got there first, x or y. For example, SIL has a DS and two DD's and she conceived DD's by basically trying every day during her fertile cycles and her DS was a total fluke, one time, oops. My DS was a product of trying right up to and through O day. A good friend of mine, completely avoids sodium due to Menirs Disease and she's now pregnant with a boy. Crazy!!!!! My husband is a radiologist and is exposed to radiation in small amounts regularly, and yet, boy! I get kind of obsessed with it as I would really love to have a girl next but I have a strong feeling that that is going to bite me in the butt. Anyway, it hasn't stopped me from charting and planning, etc. AHHH!
Anyway, the only thing I've done is asked DH to tone down the caffeine and not, um, erm, pleasure himself, while we're trying...

Hi everyone.

I will be TTC again soon and I was looking for a thread like this. We conceived our boy with sex every day starting with the fertile period all the way through ovulation. I didn't O and we used missionary, and I eat a ton of dairy, but I wasn't taking cranberry anything (though I should have been, considering I got a UTI right off the bat).

I want to try for a girl, but I'm concerned about the timing aspect because despite me know exactly when I ovulate and have tons of CM and all that, it still took something like 7 or 8 cycles to get DS. I'm 35 now and I don't want to waste cycles, KWIM? Especially since if I do everything "right" and end up with a boy, I don't want to have a crushing disappointment. I would LOVE another boy, but you know, you get caught up in something and it takes on a life of its own.

I guess I could do the girl diet and some cranberry. The timing I am just not willing to do. DH and I are going to buy some bikes....we run now but he is only able to do it on weekends. He is definitely exercising more now, which is good....I'll also tell him to can any caffeine.

This thread is fun. I've had fun reading it. I'm hoping to hear about some success stories!

Hello everyone! I'm back and happier than ever!! On July 28th I got a positive preggo test!! I was doing the whole timimg, and cranberry thing and was afraid that I would not get preggo because I had very little cm... but here I am! :

Since this is our last baby we have decided to leave the gender a surprise!! I know it'll be hard but I think it'll be exciting! Although we're thinking PINK... Boy or girl.... baby will be loved either way!!

So... just wanted to keep you guys posted! I'm due in April so you'll know then if all the tricks worked for me???

Till later

Congrats!!!

I'm more of a lurker but I'm going to start being more active. Is anyone afraid of finding out the sex for fear of disappointment?I have 2 boys and 1 girl.We want to try for another.DH doesn't care what sex but he knows I want a girl.We won't start ttc until Feb-Mar so I have plenty of time to do the diet in advance but I'm almost a little nervous to get pg and feel any disappointment over the sex.So nervous that we won't find out the sex until delivery day.Am I being silly or is anyone else feeling a little nervous about this whole thing?

^^ I certainly wouldn't say your feelings are silly at all. We all have our dreams and hopes and gender (or the dream family) is a part of that. People can't help how they are going to feel, its a part of who we are as humans.

I'm always ashamed to admit that I really really want another girl.2 and 2 of each would just be awesome.Of course all efforts could fail but I'll give it a try.

I'm not going to find out the gender of our next one, mostly for fear of dissappointment.

I've always imagined myself being the mom of a little girl. We got pregnant with our ds without meaning to, and (hate to say it, but) I was crushed when I found out he was a boy. Now, of course, I love him to pieces and wouldn't have it be any other way. DH and I have been trying on and off for most of this year, now I am about to start charting since I just realized that my AF has a mind of her own and is nowhere NEAR as regular as I thought(11 days late this month. We are going to really start trying again in October, so I am going to stock up on Cranberry tablets and pH strips, and have already been taking a Calc/mag supplement for a while now.

But yeah, I'm not going to find out the gender, so I can leave myself no room for dissappointment. And if it is a boy, dh has agreed to adopt a girl later on, if we are in a good place financially and all that. I think both of us are content with just having two though, so we'll see..... I'm going to do what I can to sway the odds, but ultimately wherever the cards fall is where they fall.

Thank you guys so much for all the links and info in this thread! I have two pages of notes already! lol

to all of you....

Just wondering, which Chinese birth chart do you use? I've seen two different versions and of course they both say that ds was supposed to be a boy. So I'm kind of confused on which one to *follow*. Also, my friend that first told me about the Chinese birth charts said that you are supposed to add nine months to your age at conception, because the Chinese consider their babies born nine months old. I'm not sure if I really understand the logic to that...any thoughts on this?

I timed intercourse a few days before O when I was TTC.

It worked. My dd is 3 1/2.
