Please make all change requests in BOLD, keep your hands and feet in the thread at all times, and let's have a wonderful month shall we?

I hope that my good luck charms works as well for this month as it did for the April thread. Let's see if I can put myself on the graduates list this time, huh?

Thanks Kemi for the New Thread! May your threadmama spirit bring you a November BFP!! I will do the December one as it's quite likely I'll still be around til then.

Here's my post from earlier today...

hmmmm...i hope kiya is ok. maybe she got sick? hugs kiya!
i'll do it if someone can tell me how. i can't even figure out how to do the mood thing! (okay, that was taken care of--thanks again kemi!)

Fingers crossed Aimee and Laura!

Laura, loved your story about your vision and your friend's phone call. That was on Dia de los Muertos too, the day when the veil between worlds is said to be very thin...a very auspicious day to have such an experience! Here's hoping!

Happy O Jencat! May this be "the one."

Great to hear ++ on FSH Kemi. That's an important one. Any luck with DH's portion yet? We have to do that too. Soon. A bit of a tough leap.

Cupcake, Hugs for AF. I'm really sorry. GL with meditation. You might find some luck checking out some audiotapes at the library--Thich Nhat Hanh, Pema Chodron, Carolyn Myss...could be nice guides. It does help this part of ttc that can "take over" your mental state. I find good novels helpful too--sort of uproot you from a rather unhelpful mind loop.

Because we're not tech. "trying" this time, I am focusing this month on enjoying sex, as in making love vs. babies (not that there should be a difference, but....at the 12 cycle mark there just is). Which means I'm back on top (literally), there aren't any instead cups afterwards, no shoulder stands, no pre-seed, no reiki-ing of 2nd chakra and so on and so on. Just really enjoyable sex and boy is that ever nice!!! DH seems a bit restored as well...maybe we were trying too hard.

I am a bit concerned because I have another migraine this weekend. The headaches have just been up the wazoo for me. I learned that some women produce antibodies to progesterone and this is accompanied by freq. severe headaches...so something to ask OB about tomorrow. Kind of sick of the throbbing.

Oh Poet! I'm sorry that I jacked the thread from you! I will put you down as our official December threadkeeper! Thanks for volunteering.

Now on to business.

Poet: I agree with just relaxing with the love making because once it becomes baby making it's totally different and there is so much stress associated with it. Though I have a 99% orgasm record, it's still a lot of pressure because DH has to do a little "extra" to get my juices flowing. I'm happy to hear that you're enjoying your love making and I certainly hope that it will result in a Thanksgiving surprise!

Kiya: I hope that you're doing well and everything. I'm sorry I jacked the thread from you this month. We were all wondering where the new thread was so I just took it upon myself to make a new one. I hope that you'll forgive me and sign up for January (or then again maybe not because you may be sprinkled with lovely baby dust and get pregnant this month!! .

As for me, my period just ended yesterday technically and so DH and I decided to have a little post period fun resulting in more spotting, though it quickly subsided. We went for a walk on the beach about 20-30 minutes from where we live and just had a wonderful time hanging out with each other today. So now I'm simply waiting until CD10 so that I can start taking the OPKs. I'm still going to my Chinese doctor, chiropractor, taking vitex and B complex, and doing the seed therapy as well. I'm also doing my fertility CDs and just relaxing about things. Basically I'm taking my energy from wanting to get pregnant and putting it towards me losing a few pounds. I'm back on the weight watchers Flex points program. These first few days have been rough really and I've almost burned up all my flex points! I'm hoping to lose 1-2 lbs a week for a little bit and then when I get pregnant, I won't be so worried about my weight. I want to keep things in check.

As for my DH's Fertell test, well we read the directions and it says that we have to take the test two days after he has ejaculated last. It's been a while really, thus our morning trist. So Tuesday evening, we'll be doing the test. I'm confident that it will turn out positively for us as well. I'm just happy that I'm normal at this point. Alright, I hope that you all enjoy what's left of your weekend and Monday.

hey everyone!
Thanks for the new thread Kemi...

CD9
First month of using my fertility monitor, so it's still getting used to me so I'm not taking it too literally at the moment.
No appointments or symptoms.
It's been interesting as the fertility monitor predicted CD7 as a fertile day which I thought was WAY too early but a friend of mine is into astrology and the 1st nov was one of the dates she predicted was good for me to concieve based on my star chart! So we made love just incase

to everyone for BFP this month!!

Kemi, thanks for starting the new thread! I hope you threadkeep yourself to a BFP this month.

Poet, thanks so much for the recommendations on meditation resources. I've read several of Thich Nhat Hanh's books, and I've checked out a couple by Pema Chodron from the library, but somehow never read them! I think it's time. I'm a huge fan of podcasts, and two years ago, I found a podcast called Audio Dharma which is just lectures and sometimes short meditations from a temple in San Francisco, or Marin, or somewhere in your neighborhood. I love it, but I haven't listened in a long, long time. Time to start again!

I think I'm going to consider this my first real cycle trying, since I'm only just now really feeling back to normal post BCP. Hopefully I'll feel a bit less pressure from myself this way, too.

A question: where would one go to get SA done? I don't know if I call my hospital-based midwives, or DH's general practitioner (whom DH strongly dislikes, so I'm thinking that's a no).

Ahhhhback in cyberworld! Just got my home computer up and running after a week of living in pure chaos! Big furniture is back in and I will take my time and go through small things AND PURGE before I am totally situated! The new carpet looks great and feels great under my tootsies! Has that not so pleasant new carpet smell though! Anyways, have to make this one a bit short and will catch up with most personals later. First, THANKS Kemi for starting the November thread!!! I too hope to hear from Kiya soon and that everything is OK! I just got finished plugging my temps and data in I was keeping. For some reason TCOYF changed my O date now to 4 days later and if that is the case, there is no chance in H-E-Double Hockey Sticks I am preggo since we didn't, um, DTD for a while! I think my O date was right though and that I am today 13 DPO, CD 29. I am still having nausea among other things... wish my bowels would decide which they want to be.. constipated or loose.. YIKES TMI! I am tired but I really feel fabulous. I am trying not to read too much in to anything and be patient. I really don't want to be disappointed. Check out my chart and see what you think.. my temps are definetely higher than any other month I have charted! Will keep ya posted!

waiting to o
AF came today after 2 days of bfns, which I had somehow convinced myself were not really negatives , but simply wrong...the power of the mind, eh?
This month I am going to continue charting and hopefully get a better sense of when (and if) I O. Also, I plan to drink more green tea to improve my cm (any other suggestions for getting better cm) and investing in preseed. During my last cycle I saw no sign of ewcm at all!
I am a bit disappointed today, and crampy...but looking forward to my next yoga teacher training weekend in a few weeks, and feeling interested in a graduate program in public history. Now if I could just feel less negative about my job and its ridiculous hours.

Thank you to mdc and all the women on this thread for being here to listen (read) and support. It makes a real difference in my life.

Hi Everyone,

Nice to 'see' you all again. I posted in August, lurked for a bit and then got very discouraged about my BFNs every cycle and stopped lurking.

Now I am feeling re-energized. Mainly because if there is no BFP in a week for me I'll be heading to the fertility clinic. That would make 6 cycles, and my family doctor said she would be happy to send me at that point.

It feels strangely liberating to have that plan!

Anyway, thanks for the thread, Kemi. I'll be checking in this month to see how everyone is and to keep positive!

Poet, I hope you and your DH have a fantastic month!

Radiowave - I know exactly what you mean with the BFNs. Those peesticks that are correct over 99% of the time MUST be wrong! At least until AF arrives. My mind works the same way yours does!

And to everyone else (until I catch up with the news) for the BFNs, but good luck for a month of BFPs!

*comes skidding around the corner, screeches to a halt!*

KEMI!!!! Thank you, thank you!! No problem at all - I'm glad you did, since I was all (5) day late and dollar short...... may you recieve triple threadkeepers luck!!

I wasn't sick, I was sexing. Finally stopped bleeding (a mere 22 days (I think???) this go around, and took full advantage thereof. I don't know - I've got a warm and gooey feeling about this month, but I don't trust it.... *sigh* : for us all!!

Okay, now to catch up.......

Kemi - Yay for the FSH!!! : that DH passes as well!

Welcome back PatioGardener!! Here's hoping that you get your BFP this week!

Glad you are getting settled in, Laura! I think I'll have to go and reread the old thread to catch up on the vision!

Aimee - sorry to hear that AF has shown up - those months when you are SURE are the worst of all, I think.

Catherine - you can do an SA at home - at least an inital one - using www.fertell.com - it'll let you know if things are okay/not okay, and since it's at home, most fellows are more comfy doing it that way - at least to start. DH took one, and failed, and we are trying herbs & etc to increase his motility/concentration......we will test him again in 3 months, and if it's still not passing at that time, we'll BOTH be going in to the doc, as it would have been almost a year. *sigh*

jencat - : that you caught as well, and : right back atcha!

Kiya, welcome back! Sex is a perfectly acceptable distraction!

Thanks for the info about Fertell. I was thinking DH might prefer that, because I can't imagine a doctor's office bathroom really making him very comfortable. I was just thinking that an "official" SA might give more detail. But since I have no real reason to wonder, maybe Fertell is a good place to start. What self-treatments are good for the swimmers? I've read zinc, vit. C, and selenium, but then I've also read about arginine in TCOYF, so I guess I don't know where to start.

Patiogardener, welcome back! A plan is always good.

Poet, I'm not sure if it's Spirit Rock. I'll check. No matter who it is, the podcasts are fantastic.

We actually started taking the FertilityBlend (I've heard it called Stanford, as well) pills - they are specially formulated and have all the right stuff in them.... 3 a day, so not too bad, and a 3 month supply is about 120 bucks and they offer a preganancy refund so if you get pregnant you can return any unopened bottles...

And yeah, an official one would give more detail - it would give you actual numbers. I figure though, he might be more willing to go and get actual numbers if he fails - that seems to be an inducement/encouragement to actually get things checked out once you KNOW something is off....

Good luck and lots of baby dust to all of this week's testers!

I feel like AF is trying to make up for the three days she was late by putting all the bleeding and cramping of three days into one. Yuck!

I got a bottle of evening primrose oil tonight at trader joes-anyone know how many mgs a day to improve ewcm?

poetgirl-the training I am doing is in the Integrative Yoga Therapy tradition...it is called YAMA therapeutics, and is focused on healing.
I really like Anusara-there is a great program in DC which I was interested in-and my favorite yoga teacher is trained in Anusara!

Ahhh Tuesday, aka hell day for me. It is our meeting day at work and today we have 8 meetings.. fun, fun! OK, 15DPO today, CD31. NO AF, BFN yesterday. Wasn't able to temp this morning and I am not POAS again soon!!! Lastnight, while at my basket mking class, I seriously though AF was there with a vengence or I peed my pants I went to the bathroom and it was like a little CM.. felt like a lot more. Still feeling tired and girggly stomach. Will POAS again maybe Sunday or Monday. Was a little crampy lastnight but in hindsight I think it was gas No PMS crampiness. Previous CD length is 34 days (last month's 27 days must have been some fluke) so I am waiting it out with fingers crossed. How is everyone doing?!!?!?!? Jencat? Getting back to normal? Poet, spend that $1,000 on yourself? Earthy, glad you are sexin' it up!!!, Radio, SORRY and BIG HUGS for AF! Vegan, I am getting Fertell too if this month doesn't pan out... gl! Jem, gl with your fertility monitor and BDingon the 1st Patio, know what you mean about having a plan - not as if I was excited about getting poked, prodded and x-rayed, but knowing something, even if it wasn't the "magic answer" felt good, KJad - LOTS OF BABY DUST FOR THE AWESOME NEW THREADKEEPER!!!

Kiya - no problem about forgetting... what better reason to forget this thread than SEX~!?

Radiowave - sorry about AF. Big hugs honey.

Vegan - fertell sounds like a great idea! FYI - when my DH did his SA, he was able to get the sample at home and drive it to the dr's office as long as he got there within an hour I think.

Laura - I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, mama!!

Poet - "a quickie" hee hee hee!

Hi Jem. Gearing up to BD like crazy!? Actually, at my last appt, my dr recommended every other day so the sperm can regenerate...

I'm feeling good. Been working 70 hours a week but that's ok. Working for gov't I've rarely done that over the years. But today I'm leaving by 5 so I can make my workout...

I've been feeling very positive about being a mom this past week. I really feel like I WANT to be pregnant, I definitely want a baby, want to be a mom... I also feel very affectionate towards DH. Guess it's my hormones...? Cuz as you know, sometimes I'm not that sure about wanting kids... But this week I just want to cuddle one of those tiny things in my arms and not worry about anything else!

But anyhoo... alas, I must go to work and worry about getting the denial form to the local assistance center asap, give Pauline my edits on the newsletter and help some folks with their agenda for the public meeting tomorrow... and finish my interview packet for the vacancy I'm filling... AND.... blah blah blah!

Have a great day everyone!

Wow! My temp took a big dip this morning, odd.

I wonder if I'm going to O early, or if the time change is screwing me up? Also, not sure it that was EWCM this AM or...em, residuals from last night's together time....hmmm. I guess I'll check it again later today to be sure.

I had another abnormal PAP too about 3 weeks ago, so I go back for another round of the PAP in Jan. Fun stuff. I wonder if this is in any way related to my miscarriages.

Jencat, glad you're feeling positive! I love it when I have those weeks/days too. Because I also definitely have the opposite too, the ones where I wonder if we want kids at all. Wow, you are working long hours, don't tire yourself out!

Laura OMG, I'd SO be POASing. I can't hold out! *fingers crossed*!

radiowave I've had that happen with AF too. A few days late, and BAM, bad period. Hugs.

Kiya I'm looking up the fertility blend . Much cheaper than the stuff I was getting at the natural food store here! Thanks!

VeganCupcake I think its interesting that we think of these things for our DHs...don't you wish they'd just tell us they'd go/take the Fertell/etc without us having to suggest it?

PatioGardner Hi again! The move to the fertility clinic if it happens (I hope it doesn't!) sounds positive.

Poet Hi! hugs!

Kemi Now we're waiting to hear how the DH's Fertell test goes! *fingers crossed* and hugs!

AF showed today in the middle of my meetings. I had a sudden extreme cramping after NOTHING and went to the bathroom and their he was!!! Really crampy, moody and sad right now! Do I try Fertell first or schedule my surgery? Ahhhh, will have talk with hubby tonight. I thought, I felt this was my month. Even though I tried to be positive but not get my hopes too far up (so I could fall all the more down), it still sucks! I am not going to read into nausea, nipple tenderness, bowel problems.. ANYTHING! I am seriously about ready to GIVE UP!!! Sorry, had to vent!

wanting2bamom I'm sure that I will not be the only one here who can truthfully say that I know exactly how you feel. If you cannot vent here where can you?

Jencat Thanks for your input hunny I have read contradicting statements from trying every other day to trying twice a day when you think your gonna O ...not sure which to go with, would appreciate input on that....

Also would appreciate any of you adding what symptoms you get when Oing, I'm not charting or checking CM...are there any other symptoms? I am CD12 and have noticed that my breasts are tender and swollen. This is my first month of really taking notice so would like to know if anyone else gets anything similar when they O.

((((Laura))) I just wanted to jump in and say that the female part of the Fertell has to be done on CD3, so if you're going to do it you need to get it soon.

Quick update (I have to go to work, back on night shift for the next 4 weeks): Had my first ever OBGYN appt. The doctor was very nice and professional and seemed to get why I was concerned and did an exam and gave me lab requisitions to have my baseline labs drawn on my next CD3 (as I am currently CD12) and progesterone done 7DPO, as well as a req. to schedule an US (to help rule out PCOS and uterine abnormalities) and a req, and cup for my DH (who went with me to my appointment). She also wants to do a post-coital US-- good times. It was jut nice to be heard and validated and that we are moving forward to (hopefully) getting some answers.

Okay, I'd much rather stay here and chat/post, but I have to go to work!

I will try and get caught up with everyone else soon!

Laura.... Feel better okay? I know how you feel when you feel that it's your month and then AF comes with a vengence. It's like the wind gets taken out of your sails. I agree that if you plan on doing the Fertell test, CD3 is the day after tomorrow so I'd go and get it. Do you have a CVS in your area? They sell them there. So take it easy and I hope that you continue to dream big.

I just wanted to thank everyone for your well wishes for this month. I'll definitely take triple threadkeepers luck because I think that I needed to get some more since the first time I was threadkeeper didn't quite work for me.

As for DH's Fertell test, we still haven't taken it. Basically we've both been busy and DH insists on me helping him out in this area. Though I'm flattered and touched that he wants to share this intimate experience with me, I'm still feeling a bit tired of putting it off for another day. Also I wanted to make sure that DH's sperm were nice and awake so I told him that we should wait until the morning to take the test. Basically his job is to make with the semen and that's about it. You would think that would be easy, right? Well I hope that he's in a sexy mood tomorrow morning because like it or not he's going to have to make with the sample. I'm basically at the point where I'm like, "You either give it to me or I'll take it!!!!" Well I think that is it for now.

I'll talk to you all later. I hope that your evenings are going well.

Much to reply to here! First, Laura, I'm so sorry, no SOOOO sorry. It's awful to get AF and it's awful to get it during work. Hugs and more hugs to you.

Kemi, may the luck be with you! I hear you on the SA apprehension. Maybe those DHs can't quite admit but it must be very scary for them or potentially demasculating...not that we don't have to manage the lion's share of it all...but somehow this one's hard for them. Hope tomorrow is your day and all is well. An aside, you might want to get your estrogen checked on CD3 in concert with your FSH? As I understand, the relationship of these 2 together can be important. Just a thought.

Michelle, good to hear from you. You are in my thoughts and I hope that you get more comprehensive answers as you progress. I started reading the book about reproductive immunology: "Is Your Body Baby-Friendly" based on Dr. Alan Beer. I wouldn't recommend it to everyone but if you suspect any immune-suppressing factors (i know you mentioned lupus before), I think it could be worth a look.

Mischievuim, Really glad to hear that your OB appt. was validating for you and you feel good about the next steps to take. It's so important to feel like you have a clear and supportive plan. Much care to you.

Jencat, Happy that you're feeling a strong mama vibe. When this all takes a while, feelings about motherhood can swing around as well and I'm glad you're feeling positive and affectionate. But, yeesh, that 's a lot of work you're doing. Do something nice for yourself too--a massage or something.

Jem, I found it helpful to check my cervix position as a fertility sign. It rises and softens as you get close to O and then quickly lowers and becomes firmer afterward usually for the rest of the cycle. I wasn't comfortable with this at first, but then it kind of liberated me.

Aimee, Your program sounds wonderful. Healing yoga...the best. Lately I've been doing a lot of the Sarah Powers style of YinYoga, which supports opening the energy channels as in chinese medicine.

Well, I've had a up/down week so far. As I mentioned before, I had another migraine over the weekend that lasted for about 72 hours and then I looked over my charts and figured out that about 1/3 of the last few weeks have been consumed with headaches and that I can't live like this. So tomorrow I am going to my reg. doctor to field some theories around. Also, I met with OB Monday and we did an ultrasound to see if I have any cysts on my ovaries and she didn't see anything. She did see tons of swelling functional cysts that are eggs ready to release, at least 8 visible on one side. At times, she's thought I'm not ovulating based on the progest. but then she looks at my biphasic charts and all these follicles and says yes I am. She said we could do the HSG and the Clomid but that I should really see an RE, becuase my problems don't really add up. Low prog. usually indicates lack of O or is relfected in short LP but I don't have either of those things. : Of course NONE of this stuff is covered in my $250 health plan which I pay for myself. So DH and I decided last night to dip into our baby fund if we have to--it was for me to stay home the first year, but with no baby, what good is it? So that's where we're at. Still enjoying the good regular non-ttc sex though. What a challenging series of weeks.

Laura!! I DEFINITELY know that feeling of 'knowing' it's your month, and then *poof* nothing... Feel free to vent and rant all you want!

Kemi - Yeah, my DH was dragging his feet for a while on it too - I had to tell him - okay, we are doing this on this day - save up the swimmers, eh?? : good luck for you!!

mischievium
- Wow, you got the whole shindig done!! Here's to hoping you won't make it to CD3!!

Jem
- I don't really have any O symptoms - I think I have o-pain, sometimes, but I'm never REALLY sure (Hrm, I need to note that pain last night). If you aren't checking CM, I don't know what else can give you a 'heads' up - nothing else happens consistently for me.
I've read that trying every day around your suspected O time is about the best - every other day if you are concerned about the amount and quality of sperm, as the day break gives the fellow a change to recharge, so to speak.

Michelle
- Has it gotten colder recently? How'd the CM end up?

Jen - Oh, I so know what you mean about feeling more 'mommy-like' - I try to keep it in check, because otherwise it drives me insane, but sometimes I just wanna cuddle a wee person, ya know?

Aimee
- I'm not sure how much you need - taking the recommended dosage on the bottle is most likely more than enough, though, I would hope.....

Where are you at in your cycle: CD28 - I think I'm about to O soon..
Appointments: Friday - my last accupunture appt for three weeks, as we're going out of town for Thanksgiving.....
Symptoms if they apply: Nada.
Testing: Nope - still avoiding the OPK's.....
Thoughts: *shrug* Coasting, really.

So, holidays are coming up, and that equals family time. We haven't told DH's family that we are TTC'ing, because - well, they're mean, basically. They get a certain 'thrill' out of watching DH fail (or predicting that he will fail, or claiming that he failed when he didn't *sigh*) and I don't want to give them any (more) ammunition for snide remarks & other BS.
Have ya'll shared amoung the families that you are TTC'ing? Any wise words of how to handle the 'Are ya'll next??' questions from family gracefully and evasively?

Michelle- Sorry about the abnormal pap. I hope that things get remedied soon so that things can come together for you.

Alright for the news that everybody has been waiting for. My DH may have some issues with his count. We barely got a line. It was so faint that we had to put it to the light to see it. So he will be calling his ND today to see what the next steps will be. Basically it will be a formal SA in an MDs office and then we'll see what else we can do to get things going. Basically, I'm not all that worried. In the instructions it said that stress can impact sperm count and quality and we've had it in spades in the last few months. Also it also said that no matter how faint the line, everything is normal, but we're just going to say that since we needed to turn on all the lights to see the line we need to see for real what is going on. Maybe they're sluggish, or maybe they can't get out of the semen goo stuff that comes with the sperm. I don't know. So basically, DH is off to get things done and I'm just going to stay with the Chinese medicine so that things stay optimal for me. I mean, really it only takes one sperm to get pregnant anyway. I'm sure that our BFP is right around the corner.

Anyways, I'm off to do other things for now. I hope that you all are having a wonderful day.

Kemi, on Fertell. I hope the health of the swimmers improves soon!

Kiya, I hear you on the family time holiday situation. My husband's brother, sister-in-law, and newborn nephew are coming to town this weekend to have their baby blessed, and I'm anticipating *a lot* of that same "So when are you two going to have a baby?" First of all, I think people who say that should be severely punished , because they have no idea how awful that can make people feel, or they once knew and have forgotten, and need to be reminded what psychic pain feels like. Oops, did I just say that?

We're not telling anyone that we're trying, and I'm determined that I'm not going to tell anyone if/when I get pregnant until it's just impossible to keep a secret anymore.

So here are some replies to the awful question (if, like me, you prefer not to tell the truth!):
  • We prefer to just borrow other people's children.
  • We can't afford to--we're saving for a boat.
  • We're not sure how to do it. Will you show us?
  • Oh, you know us--we're such free spirits! We can't settle down!

I LIKE the boat line!! That might work, too - some version of 'we can't afford to'..... now, how to get DH and his blabberlips on board.... *sigh* As much as he KNOWS his family - he still has hope, ya know? *sigh*

Yeah, I think the only people who will know IRL BEFORE I start showing are my really good friends, and my momma. We'll tell them once the baby is here. :

Hello Marywin,

This is a thread for women in their 30's who are trying to conceive their very first baby. None of us have children at this point and quite a few of us have been having difficulties conceiving. It may be a better idea to join the ONE Thread where there are all sorts of mamas who have more than one baby and also those who are trying to conceive their first. None of us here can really understand how one can conceive easily and then have problems since quite a few of us are currently having issues. If you would like to give us some encouragement that would be good. I don't want to sound elitist or anything, but the ladies here are just getting started out of the gate. This is my second time being threadkeeper the first time it was back in April and the ladies who got BFPs are having their babies next month. I'm still here. Please feel free to make comments, but I don't think that we will understand your unique situation.

Thanks,

Kemi

Hi everyone, just checking in...I'll be testing next week. DH just told me that we're trying my way for TTC for 3 months and if that doesn't work, we're going to try his way for 3 months. His way consists of having sex every day for a month. It's an admirable goal, but the very thought of it tires me out. =)
