Ok I am so totally shy.... but I'm asking anyway !!

::

I heared that having an orgasm after undergoing IUI helps the sperm live longer... since we are using frozen sperm, length of survival is an issue...

Anyone know what the truth is about this??

I know that muscle contractions after O after intercourse are supposed to suck the swimmers up through the cervix and into the uterus. Since the swimmers are inserted directly into the uterus in an IUI, it really doesn't make sense.

I have never heard anything about Os and sperm longevity though. The REs do leave you alone in the exam room for 10 minutes after the IUI...so, if you can be quick...go for it!

Hmm, I've never heard this, but I have heard that having an orgasm *before* your IUI can help open the cervix, and make the procedure easier. I tried to do this with mine, since we did at-home IUIs and often had trouble getting the catheter all the way into the uterus. That said, it turns out I have trouble, um, performing under pressure, so it didn't happen most of the time.

For what it's worth, the time I conceived, there were no orgasms immediately before or afterwards. So, who knows? For me, sperm count seemed to have a far greater impact than orgasm on whether or not I got pregnant. (I just posted about this on the queer parenting board...)

Good luck! Hope it works!

This is consistent with what our midwife has told us.
