I know sore breasts are a PMS symptom for me, but after doing some reading they tend to be an early pregnancy symptom for many..

So can anyone (who's experienced this before) do their best to try to explain the difference between the PMS sore breasts and the pregnancy sore breasts? Is there even one?

There is a little difference as I remember...the big thing was PAINFUL nipples (obviously no nursing) which also turned my nipples from cute, little pink quarters to purple "saucers". Got the visual?

The actual boobs aching is obscure...the ache before AF and they ached when I was first pg, the only difference is they swelled up HUGE and got all "veiny" when pg.

Sorry, it's pretty vague, I know, but there is a difference!

I survived 16 mos! Ask me about breastfeeding a baby with posterior tongue tie, high palate, and weak oral motor skills- whew!

I can't tell the difference between PMS and pregnancy sore boobs myself. They seem to be the same for me at the begining. Except the pregnacy boobs stay around longer!

From what I understand of it - breast soreness comes from the progesterone that is released after ovulation (which is why my boobs are sore directly after I ovulate up until my period). If there's no pregnancy, the progesterone plumets - which causes the lining to shed - and sore boobs go away. So, if you're preggers, the sore boobs stick around. But both scenarios feel exactly the same to me. Maybe a little more nipple tenderness with the pregnancy sore boobs though. The other breast changes didn't occur till later on in pregnancy for me.

Mom to two boys, 7 and 10.  Expecting 3rd boy any day now with DH (his first).
