So, how important is it to use FMU? I'm assuming that HcG is higher when you haven't gone to the bathroom in a while?

My cycle date is a little wonky, so I know that I could just wait a few days and know for sure, but I have been wondering why FMU is soooo important, and if it's okay to use SMU.

I think SMU (or later) is fine as long as you seriously cut back on fluid intake for a couple hours before testing and wait at least 3-4 hours before urinating... Good luck!

I think it's all about the concentration of your FMU. And if you used SMU (after breakfast and some fluids, presumably) your urine would be less concentrated, the Hcg levels might now be as high, and some tests may not show a line if you're pregnant -- therefore a false negative.

I think it's best to wait 3-4 hours without intake of extra fluids. Like, if you had to get up at 2am to pee, you can probably make do with what you get when you finally get out of bed at 7. That's just my theory.

According to your chart, you're only 8, maybe 9 DPO. Most tests won't catch a pregnancy yet at that point. If you want any chance at catching a pregnancy tomorrow, your best bet is to have the most time and the least fluids since going to the bathroom as you can. That's why FMU tends to be the best. You might get lucky if you can replicate those conditions at another point in the day. Also, if you get a BFN at this point, don't get too upset yet. Just test again in a couple days.

FMU is always touted as best because obviously during the night, you aren't drinking and your urine isn't diluted like it is during the day.

With that said, I always get better +'s with SMU and beyond for whatever reason!
