Hello,
I am new. I have a almost 4 year old DD, she was conceived by chance. Long story...but DH and I were married 5 years (never on any type of bc) before we finally got pregnant. Haven't been on bc since the birth of DD and I am still not pregnant. Tests have been done, hormones have been given to me to start a cycle, but after charting my BBT my doc realized that I do not ovulate regularly. So tomorrow (thurs) I start hormones again to get that cycle going and then I start my first cycle of Clomid. Little nervous about it, well that and the cost of the ultrasounds and blood work. I don't think that our insurance pays for much (if any) of the tests.

I would love pointers about Clomid if any of you ladies have some! Or success stories or how you felt while on it...guess I am a little nervous that I will be an emotional wreck too...

Going to try the search function...maybe I can find more info on clomid and ttc...

I have been TTC baby #2 since October 2007. We took maybe 2 months off last year, but that doesn't really matter at this point. I am finally taking out refined sugar and exercising everyday. I also didn't realize that we should be taking 800 mcgs of folic acid? I was taking 400 all this time. Oh and lots of water. All day long.

Hope all is well with everyone. I just wanted to say a hello again.

Jumping back in we are still ttc July will be the 2 yr mark and only 3 chemical pregnancies to show for it. I plan on making a appt with my obgyn then if we aren't pregnant by then or have another m/c. I also plan on trying to get a referral to a RE since our insurance is a HMO.

Browneyed- I'm about to start clomid as well. No advice but hopefully I'll be starting soon and I can let you know how it goes.

Kristin- I'm on 5 mg of folic acid. When I said I was only on 1 mg my doctor wrote out a rx before I could even say anything else.

Socali- I hope you can get into an RE. We have to pay for everything pregnancy related out of pocket so I'm really hoping the clomid does the trick.

Right now I am on bcp because AF took a lengthy vacation. I'm really tempted to stop today (day 5) to see if it was enough to start my period. The pill makes me crazy! I get head aches, crampy, tender breasts and I am not very pleasant to be around. I don't want to mess things up further but I really really need out of this fog!

Always watched over: :

Here is my story with SI: We conceived our first child after 4 months of trying. We were surprised to find out we were pregnant again when he was 10 months old, then had a m/c around 8 weeks. That was almost a year and a half ago. We have been actively trying again for at least a year of that time. A few months back, dh and I both went through the testing and everything came back normal, yet we are still not pregnant. This is so incredibly frustrating!! I do not want to go the pharmacological route for a few reasons, and am hoping to learn more about natural options through all of the wise women here. Is there a list or a resource for natural fertility options? What have people tried that has been successful? Thank you for any insight!

I am very happy to have found this thread....I hope that it is able to be revived! Although I hate that others are dealing with this as well. My story is long, I'll give the short version.

I was diagnosed in 2005 with PCOS and anovulation. I got pregnant with my dd in March of 2006 with the help of clomid. I have been ttc #2 for about 18 months, had a miscarriage in November of 2008. I am on BCP this month as last month my hormone levels were very off. After this medicated cycle of BCP I will be attempting either a clomid or femara cycle...haven't decided yet. I've never used femara before.

We are TTC #3 and have had a few chemical pregnancies.
We went through primary infertility as well. it took us 2.5 years to concieve DC #1. We had a miracle with DC#2 (one m/c before her successful conception). I feel so much older and somewhat worn down. it's the same scary movie I was watching before, it was just put on pause.
I wish we felt like our family was complete at 2. If it never happened, I still would feel so blessed. I prayed that the desire to TTC would go away if we weren't meant to have any more. One year later and that desire remains strong.

I'm new to Mothering and one thing I'm changing right now is supplementing iodine thanks to reading up on it here. Our two children were conceived after trips down to South Carolina. I just read they are the iodine state. I'm thinking that's not coincidence.

Good luck everyone.

Ammamomma: I too would consider natural options. I don't know why I am so scared of making an appt with an IVF specialist. I actually obsess over my "story" each month when I get AF. My husband and I were stress-free 5 years ago and were not planning on having a child at that time. We used the pull out method (is there a shortened version on this board for that term??? Sorry, I just don't know it). And voila! Our daughter was born 9 months later. Since then, my husband has had a ton of health issues (growth hormone disorder and a pituitary tumor taken out) and my daughter was diagnosed with type-1 diabetes last year. BUT! Despite all the stress of our health concerns, we still trek on... we still live our life as best we can... and my husband's testosterone and other levels have come back ok. I haven't had myself checked out yet, because I think my ego is holding me back. I mean, it was almost the "immaculate conception" with my daughter, so why on earth would it be this hard for the second baby that we desperately want?

Could it be that I am 37??? Anyway... sorry ladies. I find myself on this board tonight because I am late with AF, but all the tests are negative, so I am just down... waiting for AF to just get here.

Hope you are ALL well

Hi Mommaloves: I am SO sorry about your loss last November. That is the hardest thing to go through.

Kristin1924: I completely relate to your frustration! This last cycle was many days longer then my normal cycle, but after 2 neg pregnancy tests and a few more days, AF arrived.... how annoying! I mean, if I'm not pg, let's just get on to the next try! Anyway, I made an appt with the RE, but am not even sure that I am going to keep it... just doesn't feel right for me. I made an appointment with a fertility acupuncturist, and that felt very right. I feel like I am back on track with balancing my body... maybe that is what I have needed all along. I have also begun reading The Infertility Cure. Oh... and having sex for fun again (it's been a while). We'll see how that goes. I am hopeful and finally feeling like I am going in one direction, rather than trying a myriad of things that I read about all over the internet - lol! I am wishing you well and look forward to hearing some great news from others in this thread!!

Here I am again....

I was finally diagnosed with hypothyroidism some months and feel sooo much better both physically and mentally.

As hyo often causes unexplained infertility, I am hoping that this is it and we can start trying again, soon. I need to get some labs one, first, as hypo would be dangerous to the baby.

TBH, though, I have been in this land of infertility for so long (dd is 4.5), that I feel as if this being the solution is just too easy. I just don't believe I will get pregnant. But... at lest there is some hope now.

Also, hypo has let me see things differently: I am happy to hve the energy to live again, and the ability to think. (Both were gone before hypo meds.) As it looks like I have had this since childhood, I now consider dd to be a miracle of some sort, esp. because she is healthy and shows no signs of a lowered IQ.

So... Even if we never have another baby again, I am just thankful to have my life back, so I can be a good mom to our dd.

Mama to a little lady and always praying for more.

Hello everybody,
TTC #2 for months, frustrated and ready to give up. AF is late this month but this is not unusual, already had a BFN 3 days fefore AF was due. I have no more energy to look at more BFN's so I'll just wait. I HATE AF. From now we will have to take a break for several months or more due to insurance coverage.

Me (33) wife to DH, mommy to DD (11/06) and expecting 5/2011

It is encouraging to look back through this thread and see that several people are now on their way to new babes. I hope we all see our way through to the other side soon.

I was infertile for the first and now again for the second. However, we skipped the preliminaries and went straight back to the RE for round #2. I did get pregnant on cycle 3, but then miscarried.

I've officially entered the angry phase of IF. grrrrrr.

It seems like everyone I followed (through blogs and such) who had trouble conceiving #1 at the same time as me has sailed through on producing #2 with little or no trouble. That makes me so furious with the universe. Why does it seem that everyone but me gets a free pass on the 2nd? Except for those of us here, of course

Anyone else feel thoroughly and illogically pissed off? Silly question, I'm sure.

Amy (34): mommy to DD1 (11/07) and DD2 (7/10), wife, wohm, and wannabe suburban homesteader.

I surely am as well! Our DD took 7 years to concive naturally, not sure what happened, was hoping it may be repeated however she will be 3 in March and all we have had is one mc 19 cycles ago!

We finally got in to ARTUS awhile back, we did two cycles of clomid with HCG and IUI, all I got was a huge cyst, so we were told to take a month off... and I haven't gone back. I've got unexplained infertility, so something is not right and all the clomid, hcg and IUI in the world aren't going to fix it, which pisses me off why they want me to waste my money on it (i'm not a gambler and frankly that's what it feels like with them!)... I'm back on my original mission to do this naturally!

I'm looking to find a naturopath, and do some accupuncture and homeopathy to resolve this. I'm sure it's all hormonal related and that means it's up to me to balance my body! But it is so bloody frusterating to wait for professional help, and it doesn't help, and waste money, meanwhile ppl are having 2nd, and 3rd babies with no problems everywhere!! It also doesn't help that I'm a social worker in Child Protection, so it's pretty stressful, and it often makes me sick to think of all the kids who are neglected and abused, and the moms that just keep having more... if there is a god, maybe he needs to rethink who he gifts those babies to! I probrably sound a little bitter, LoL! But I do have a good sense of humor and am so thankful for the little one I was fortunate to be blessed with! If she is all that is meant to be, than I am blissfully happy! But still pissed off that I can't have what everyone else can!! Life isn't always fair!

I wish you all better luck than I am having and if anything I wish you happiness!

It really annoys me when people tell me that everything happens "for a reason" and that I'll get pregnant when it's the "right time." Do those same people think that children are born to abusive families for a reason? What about the ones that are left in dumpsters?

As much as I'd like to, I just don't buy it. When I do get pregnant again and meet the little darling, I will be glad that it happened at the time it did, because otherwise, I wouldn't have him or her. But frankly, I think it's all random bad luck.

Can I join you ladies here? I got pregnant with DS the third month after stopping BCP's (taken for medical reasons). I got AF back when DS was 2 years 2 months, and we have been trying ever since then, which has been since May 2008. I have had one early loss, and one chemical pregnancy. So far my hormone levels look normal, now I am just awaiting an appointment for testing to determine if there are any uterine issues that could be interfering with a pregnancy. It is so so hard seeing other people I know have second and third babies so easily since I had my DS.

Any suggestions on how to get through each cycle that I am not pregnant again without loosing it would be so appreciated. And this is such a hard time of year, as we conceived our lost little one early Nov. last year, and found out that the baby had passed just a few days before Christmas. As much as I want to get pregnant, I am also so so afraid to see those 2 lines on a test again. After 2 losses, it just seems like a positive test will just lead to yet another loss.

Cristina, Mama to Michael 03-16-06, Nathan 01-16-11, and an angel 01-20-09,
Go with your gut, follow your heart.

Thank you for this thread! A little about myself..I am almost 42yo and my DH is 47yo. We have been ttc#2 for about a year. Started Fertility Blend approx. 6 months ago and been doing acupuncture as well.
Went to an OB in my practice today and what a HORRIBLE experience!! Not only did he make me feel crappy about my age and ttc but he continued to hound me about my age and mc's and downs babies...so i walked out of the ofc feeling terrible about myself with a prescription for Femara and waiting to schedule an HSG test.

I read earlier about someone who had cysts from her c-section...and I even asked the OB if this could be an issue with me..since i had a c-section approx 3 yrs ago with my DD. Interesting..i hope they find something during this HSG test so I can at least put a finger on why it has been so hard.

Thanks for listening and for all of us ttc....esp with our age...sending lots of baby dust!!!

avaw- I would strongly recommend you going to see a reproductive endocrinologist asap. As nice as OB's can be (and it doesn't sound like yours was!), IF is just not something they deal with all the time. They are not going to necessarily be well-versed in the latest info/studies/technologies/meds. And they are more likely to string you along trying this or that, when time is of the essence.

Definitely do the hsg to check your tubes and such, they can also do a saline ultrasound to see if there are any fibroids/cysts in your uterus. Did they order a semen analysis for your dp? I had questions as well regarding my c/s and our secondary IF, and it doesn't hurt to rule them out.

I'm so sorry you had such a cruddy visit today.

Hi! I'm new here, too. We conceived DD#1 by accident right (and I do mean right) after a m/c. That was 8 years ago and still no #2. We can't afford to go to any sort of specialist, so we just keep on trying. I don't know what else to do.
