A monthly thread to talk about all of our various journeys through the difficult, trying, and often heartbreaking world of infertility. This thread is a place to chat, vent, get support, cheer each other on, and hopefully occasionally laugh!

Trying to Conceive #1

anne1140~26, TTC #1 since Nov. '07. Me: septate uterus, Him: poor sperm morphology and motility, possibly caused by varicocele (repaired now!). Follow up SA showed little change. Next SA in April. Trying in the meantime.

AutumnLaughing~32, TTC #1 since June of 2008, PCOS + possible endo, clear HSG, using progesterone cream, DH ambivilent due to unemployment.

Blueyezz4~Unexplained Infertility; TTC “#1” which is really #3 after losing #1 & #2 (twin boys at 22.5wks on 6-20-09 conceived after trying for 3yrs). We are back to ART gonal F and trigger shot/IUI. Fingers crossed!!

indianagrl~35, DH also 35. TTC #1 since 10/08 with hypothyroidism, possible other hormone imbalance.

Kimberly23~23, TTC #1 with PCOS, about to start first cycle of Clomid and Provera.

laura-belle~TTC #1 since 5/2007. I'm 28, DH is 42. 7 failed IUI's, now moving on to IVF after a bit more testing.

miriam_bat_avraham~Julie, 27, TTC #1 with DH, 34. Trying off and on starting in Jan 2009 and actively since November 2009. DH is occasionally anejaculatory and I don't ovulate regularly. We saw an RE on 1/11 and will be proceeding with them, but we're going to try another cycle or two on our own first to avoid some of the testing.

MrsD08~Samantha 24, DH 31, TTC Baby D. #1 since September 2009 with male factor infertility. Saw a new Urologist 2/23. He is hopeful that we can figure out what is going on w/ DH. He has ordered a SA and if we can't get a sample then he will do a procedure to see if there is a blockage of some sort. Next appointment: March 30th.

Pugmomma~stage 4 endo; lap 8/2007, TTC #1, DF has low count, 1/11/09 hsg, 1/15/09 SA

stretch358~TTC since Aug. 08 with hashimoto's thyroiditis. Other than that the RE says Unexplained Infertility.

Tear78~TTC #1 since 5/2008, recovering from laparoscopy/hysteroscopy to remove 4-5cm endometroid cyst. Yuck! TTC on full hold until early March for full recovery.

wallabisfarm~Sara, 29, actively TTCed for 2 years with endo, now, after a 4 year break (without prevention) we are trying again on a gluten free diet to heal from my gluten intolerance or celiac disease.

ladylaura~Laura, 25, TTC#1 since May 2007, using donor sperm b/c of husband's genetic defect.

Grapesbunch~26, TTC#1 since August 2008. DH had a low SA and is taking Clomid to assist with correcting a pos. pituitary problem.

amberc727~TTC #2 since Oct '08. Starting Femara this cycle.

brichole1214~Brandy 26 (w/ PCOS),DH 30, TTC #2 (#1 together) since September 2007 with no success. Did 4 rounds of Clomid with OB no results! Started see RE in Nov '09 and have done 2 rounds with 2 other oral medications, and now on 2nd round with Menopur up to 225 IU's a day.

Eastbayk~natural, TTC #2 for 3 years

lotusblossom9~28, TTC #2, trying Femara this cycle after Clomid didn't work.

kristenok18~37, DH 39, TTC#2 since 2004 w/ PCOS and Multiple MIF issues. Did a failed cycle of Femera and IUI and planning a medicated IUI cycle for February.

Minkajane~ Mandy (pcos) & DH(low SA and poor morphology) TTC#2 since June '08. 4 months failed Femera/Ovedril cycles 2 were w/ IUI!

Okay ladies, I finally got the new thread done and I hope that this month is a great one for all of us!!! If there is anything I need to change, add, delete, whatever please let me know!

AFM: I am on CD26 and still no O. I am up to 225iu's of Menopur a day and the doctor only has me mixing all 225iu's in 1mL of water. I was a little freaked at first because it makes it more concentrated, or at least i've heard it does, but the doctor assured me that it would work better for us this way so we will see. My BFF IRL is supposed to go with me to the RE on wed since DH will have to be at work...so I hope that she brings me GL this time! Also PRAYING for thread keeper luck this month lol. (It's my birthday month too so it would be nice to be able to test around my birthday and get a +)!

Here's to a GREAT month for everyone and I'm really looking forward to some wonderful up dates this week! I'd love to be able to move some of you ladies to the GRADUATED section of this thread!

BFN on 1/29 and again on 2/1, got AF this morning so I guess it's official. I start clomid this cycle and we'll do IUI as well. Hopefully it will work.

Kel32rbown- My Df has had the same issues after his SA and I will try to have him drink lots of water before our IUI. Thanks for posting that here, we were trying to find out if that may help. Sending you good vibes for 2/8 testing.

Good Luck to everyone else this month! Hopefully it will be a good month.

pugmomma: I'm sorry AF found you this month but at least you get to start a new cycle! I really hope this month is a good one for you!!!

Everyone: Wishing all of you luck this week !!!

AFM: I am getting myself and my 6yo DD ready so I can drop her off at school, then I'm off to the RE's office to see if anything is happening now that i've been upped to 225 IU's!!! I really hope so because that's a large dose and i've only got 9 vials of menopur left!!! I think if I have nothing going on today and it doesn't look like i've Oed i'm going to see if he will put me on something to start AF and try a new cycle! I know my uterin lineing looks good because it's up to an inch thick....i just wish that those follies would hurry up and at least make it to a 16!!! A 20 would be AWESOME, but i'm not going to be picky! We'll see and i'll let everyone know how it goes! I hope everyone is finally able to get the good news they want this month!

ETA: I have 2 follies that are 17mm and 2 that are 13 1/2's! I have to wait until this afternoon to see what the doctor wants to do with what my b/w says but I am PRAYING that I get to trigger tonight or tomorrow night! I am just happy my body is finally responding to the meds!!!

EATA: The doctor wants me to hold off on this cycle and wants me to take the Plan B pill to keep me from getting pregnant this cycle and i'm not sure that i can do that! I really want to be pregnant and he says that my risk for more than one is high with my Estrodril levels (they went from 105 on friday up to 1650 or so today) I am leaving it to God to do what He wants to do and if i don't get pregnant than this isnt' our month and if i do get pregnant than it's what God wants!

Oh, I was here before! Well, I'm back now!

I just posted a long thread detailing where I'm at here- http://www.mothering.com/discussions....php?t=1191882 so I won't go into all of that again. But basically, I put all things TTC related on the back burner for a while to keep my sanity and now I am finally ready to start moving forward again!

I'm meeting with a RE next week, so I'm finally on the path to getting some answers and hopefully some relief with how off I've been feeling!!

Here is a little snippet for me-

Vermillion~ 26, 17 week loss with baby #2 (no known cause) in 12/07. TTC #3 off and on since 3/09. Getting ready to see a RE in Feb. for irregular cycles, elevated prolactin levels and suspected pituitary growth or PCOS. TTA until we have some more answers.

Hi, everyone! I'm really really bad at keeping up with personals , but I'll try to be better at it.

Today is cd1 for me, so called in to get things rolling. Will be taking 7.5mg femara with an IUI planned. It's my first ART cycle with this clinic, so I'm anxious to see how differently they do things.

brichole1214 - sorry to hear about your cycle. How many follies did you have that they are so worried about??? I'm kinda with you... it is all in God's hands, but I know after carrying multiples and going through what we did with our loss I'd just say be careful!!!!

Vermillion - Good to see your name again, I just wish it wasn't here on this thread!! Hope your stay here is short. Good luck!

poetgirl - thanks for sharing that good news! There still is some hope out there!!! Hope you are well!!

AFM - Just a quick update... I think I'm out of the running this month !!! Took a test this am and it was stark white, no line, not even a hint! I kinda expected that since I really have no real symptoms. I'm really not suppose to test until Monday which is 17 days after the IUI, but figured I'd try early so I'm not getting my hopes up for Monday. Will probably call REs office Monday and may try to switch to a different drug (Follistim instead of Gonal F) since it seems to be a lot less expensive from what i have heard. Anyone else out there use Follistim? I'm wondering if it is just like Gonal F, but like the generic version maybe? I didn't really have any symptoms from the Gonal F so I'm hoping that i won't be kicking myself for switching, but if we can save some $ by doing that, the symptoms might be worth it. Would love to hear anyone feedback about that med if you've used it or heard anything about it! Good luck to the rest of you!!!!!

After 5 failed IUI's & 6 failed IVF's we threw in the towel w/ ART and then got a NATURAL miracle BFP! Hoping and praying it is finally our take home baby!  Mother to our twins boys in heaven -lost at 22.5wks on 6/20/09 and 1 other little angel in heaven.

Our Miracle has arrived... Caden James...

I'm so sorry, Blue. I have used both follistim and gonal and it's my understanding they are interchangeable. I did not have mood effects with either. I'm not sure about difference in cost though. Seems like they were both expensive to me, but plans and prices can differ quite a lot.
I feel it's not a matter of if, but when for you. Hang in there~~~

Tear, I have been meaning to say that I understand the difficulty of going through IF not just yourself but within your family. My older sister went through 4 failed ivfs, was diag. with early ovar. failure and has now been trying to adopt for over a yr. I also have 2 aunts who could not have kids and another for whom it was very difficult to get her one. In my experience, there is sort of an exponential grief when more than one of you is struggling to bring the next generation into the family. I just wanted to wish you and your sister special comfort and energy. It seems like you are very supportive of each other and that's so important. I hope you both get pregnant very soon.

poetgirl, that is so, so sweet of you! Thank you for the support. I really appreciate your loving energy around here. I think my sister would be ok with me saying that she IS newly pregnant. and She and I both went through a loss in the last year and a half, so we're both so so excited and praying that her nausea means good news. And yes, I'm so eternally grateful that we have been close together and such a strong support to each other during this journey (just check out our sigs ) Thanks for the comfort and energy. I believe in it!!!

on sadder news, lovebug was pregnant, but it turns out it was ectopic, and they didn't find it before her tube ruptured, so she lost her tube. Please send her your love and energy, because she's in a lot of pain.

Vermillion, I'm so glad you have a plan! I'm going to go read your other post.

everybody! I'm feeling lurky these days, especially since won't let go. It's stronger than it's been since I was a teenager, which is probably partly a great sign, partly a reaction to the surgery. Anyway, thinking of all of you!

Sorry ladies that i've been MIA for the past couple of days...i've finally started ovulating these eggs that have been developing and i am hurting pretty bad. I thought the nurse was just over exagerating it but really i think my labor pains from DD was better than this! ANYWAY...i've finally updated the blurbs and welcome Vermillion we are happy to have you but pray that we all have a short time on this thread!!!

Blueyezz: Thank you for the kind words and I promise i'll do everything in my power to take care of myself. I just had a strong feeling that God has a unique plan for me and whatever that plan is i'm always going to be there to accept what He wants!

Tear: I really hope things go well with this Pregnancy for your sister. Sending her Sticky vibes!!!! I hope AF lets up on you soon! She's the evil witch from Wizard of OZ! We need to drop a house on her!!! SORRY...i'm tired and being stupid lol.

Poetgirl: Thank you for the updates and i went ahead and moved lovebug to loses since i had read earlier this morning that she had lost the baby to an ectopic pregnancy and lost one of her fallopian tubes in the process!

kristenok18: I am sorry that AF found you but hey...you get to start a new cycle and I really hope this new clinic is good to you!

OKAY AFM: I had a pos OPK 24 hours ago and I started feeling the ovulation pains last night/early this morning while i was at work...so i'm guessing tomorrow will be 1dpo for me...i'm going to just wait everything out to see if AF finds me eventually or if I do get a BFP this month. I hope all of you ladies are having a good week and look forward to the weekend wrap-ups....

x posted-

They scheduled me for an appt. with the RE on Tuesday at 10am! An hour away. Can’t do it I can’t get up, get ready, and get down there in time, so I had to reschedule. The soonest afternoon they could get me is on the 24th. I’m kind of bummed out to wait an extra couple of weeks as I just want to get this show on the road! But, I guess it’s not sooo bad, especially when I’ve heard of people waiting months to see specialists. I can’t complain!

We also have to avoid getting pregnant until we have more answers, which is honestly fine with me! I’ve become a bit of a gym rat lately and with the weight melting off, a few more months to keep getting in better shape will only benefit me and any future pregnancy. Not to mention it's already easing some of my symptoms!

Can you change mine to:

anne1140~26, TTC #1 since Nov. '07. Me: septate uterus, Him: poor sperm morphology and motility, possibly caused by varicocele (repaired now!). Follow up SA showed little change. Next SA in April. Trying in the meantime.

Thanks.

Age: 25
TTC #: 2
CD: 31
DPO (if applicable): 1
Testing: around February 19th or 20th
Trying Since: September '07
Plan for this Cycle: Waiting to see what comes at the end of the month...if BFN we will probably do a pill/injections combo
Link to Chart (if applicable): N/A
Thoughts: Really bloated today probably from the 3 or 4 follicles that ruptured...i just pray that i only released 2 mature eggs but we won't know until I either get AF or get a BFP. I will still have to see my RE for 8 weeks if we do get the BFP this cycle though....we'll see...if this one lasts as long as my others have i should be expecting AF in about 15 days.

Thank you Tear!! I hope so too! Though if this month it doesn't take i'm going to see if the doctor will do another SA on DH and then see where we are going from there. I know that the RE wants to try a Pill/Injection treatment this next time and maybe that will help me...but i don't know. They over stimulated me this past time according to them so we'll see what they decide. (again that's IF i'm not preggers come the week of the 20th)

Well, I'm officially out of the running!! AF showed up today in full force!!!! I scheduled my CD 4 U/S for tues morning and it will be back to the Gonal F for me. Found out it is actually less expensive than switching to the Follistim, so I will stick with it. Looks like if my body does the same thing as the last cycle we will be looking to have our IUI right around my B-Day which is on Friday the 19th so that is something to look forward to!! I mean, who doesn't want to spend their Birthday with their feet in the stirrups RIGHT!!!! Hahaha.... maybe it will be good luck for me!!! Good luck to everyone else.

Blueyezz~ I am sorry AF found you! But at least you get to start your next round of meds and I think it's a good sign that you will be having your IUI done on your birthday!

AFM: I need some good vibes for i will be testing on blueyezz's birthday!!! I really hope that is a GREAT day for both of us!!!! If last night is any indication of what the next month or so I going to be like I am ready to get that month over with lol. We went to a friends house last night to watch the UFC fights on pay-per-view and I started getting sick toward the end of if so we left a little early. As soon as we got home and got my DD and my brother's 2 DD's in bed I started throwing up! It was crazy! No one else got sick last night from what we ate...i ate everything everyone else did and still i'm the ONLY person who got sick!!! I don't know what was wrong with me but it really was not fun!!! This morning i feel a lot better than I did, but i think i slept too long because i went to bed finally at like 1 am and I didn't get back up until about 12:15 this afternoon!!! Maybe my body just needed the rest! Who knows..anyways, HAvE A GREAT WEEK ladies! And I hope to see a few more weekend wrap-ups by the end of the day!!!

Watch yourself!!!! I think I read somewhere that nausea and vomiting may be a sign of OHSS (over- stimming).

Hey all!

I see I've been classified as MIA again... haha. We decided to take a break for a few months, to get some perspective and de-stress. In fact, we also decided to not tell anyone (not even our parents!), save 1 friend, that we will start trying again with my next cycle.

A quick intro, since hopefully the people in here when I was on here last have graduated!

I'm Laura, 25, TTC #1 since May 2007. Extreme low sperm count (~200,000) diagnosed in June 2008. Found IVF was our only option in July 2008. Started seeing an RE in December 2008, only to find out that my husband's low sperm count was due to a balanced Robertsonian translocation (his 13 and 14 chromosomes are stuck together, meaning that during cell division, it's very possible for too many chromosomes to be allocated), and that we'd need IVF with ICSI and PGD. After being postponed two times, we went through IVF in April 2009. Due to poor egg quality, barely being able to find 18 sperm to inject into my eggs, and the only remaining embryos testing as abnormal, the cycle was cancelled after retrieval. We then made the decision to move on to donor sperm, not wanting to go through IVF again and also risk putting our future children through it themselves, as there was a chance they could have the same infertility problems. Chose the donor in June 2009, only to find that my cycles were behaving strangely for several months and I would need to use Clomid despite always having had perfect 30 days cycles. FINALLY got to the point of DIUI#1 in October 2009... BFN. You can probably see why we needed the break.

SO, we finally seemed to figure out the correct way to go about things, so we'll hopefully be attempting DIUI#2 sometime in the next few weeks. I'm doing acupuncture weekly already to get prepared. The only kink in the plan is that I'm now on freaking CD53! I got a nasty hormonal migraine yesterday, though, so hopefully things are right around the corner...

Anyway... I'm back and feeling POSITIVE about 2010! Nice to meet you... and for those of you still here, hey again!

Laura, 25, TTC#1 since May 2007, using donor sperm b/c of husband's genetic defect.

Laura , wife to Jeremy : since 7-23-06. MFI caused by a Robertsonian translocation; starting DIUI cycle #5, this time with injectables. Trying to hang in there.

Weekend Wrap-Up
Name: Anne
Age: 26
TTC #: 1
CD: 27
DPO: 9 (I think)
Testing: I'm not, unless I end up being really late.
Trying Since: November '07
Plan for this Cycle: Just waiting. Not feeling especially hopeful.
Thoughts: I'm just getting frustrated. I don't feel pregnant at all. If I ever find out I'm pregnant, I think I will be shocked. At least if I'm not pregnant, I can get my tattoo touched up at the end of the month as planned. (Obviously, though, there's no comparison...you all know what I'd rather have happen!)

Mama to learning.gifJulian Matthew, born 5/10/2011 nocirc.gif

Hopeful vbac.gif for the next!

blueyezz~ I thought about that and i've been keeping an eye on my weight gain over the past couple of days...just to make sure...the nurse said it was okay if i gained about 5lbs worth of fluid but if it started reaching toward the 10lbs mark i would need to come in and see if they would need to pull some of the fluids out of me with a needle(i really don't wanna have to go that route but i will to keep myself safe and healthy). I've only gotten sick that one night...and THANK GOD it was gone by morning! I don't think i've hurt like that in a long time.

Laura~ Welcome back!!! I have moved you back to TTC#1 and taken you out of MIA! I really don't blame you for taking some time off to regain your sanity! G/L with this next cycle...i hope that it finally works out for you!

Anne~ Maybe this will be your month! I think that would be wonderful! I would pull for the being pregnant...though me and my BFF IFR are supposed to pay for each other to get a tattoo for our birthday at the end of this month i would rather just pay for hers and have her pay for mine sometime next year!!!! We'll see how this cycle goes though! G/L though...and i'll keep my fingers and toes crossed for you!

AFM~ Feeling a LOT better than I was saturday night, and I'm not cramping like i was at the end of last week. I think all of the eggies that were going to release have completely released and I hope we can catch at least one good one for this cycle. We DTD 2 or 3 times this past week hoping that that will be enough...i know it only takes one time...but still...i would rather be safe than sorry lol. I just want to go ahead and say that the 2ww is HORRIBLE!!! I can't stand having to wait to test! I'll make it through though. Since i don't have typical cycles I don't really know what a DD would be for me though...I guess I'll leave that figuring up to the doctor lol. ANYWAYS, i hope eadh and everyone of you ladies has a WONDERFUL week! I'm really hoping to be able to move at least one or 2 ladies to graduated this month...but if not...we will all just keep trying!!!!!

Laura- Welcome back after some much needed time off. I hope this time your visit here is short.

Blueeyezzs- good luck with your IUI on 2/19 (mine is 2/13) and happy birthday! It would be awesome to conceive on your birthday.

Brichole1214- I hate the 2ww. It's a shame we can't know sooner. When is the earliest that you test? I always set a date to test, but then as the date approaches I test early. Then if it's negative I think I've tested too early and end up testing again.

Weekend Wrap-Up
Name: Courtney
Age:29
TTC #:1
CD:7
DPO (if applicable):n/a
Testing: Not until the end of the month
Trying Since: Feb 09 (actively seeing a doctor)
Plan for this Cycle: I started Clomid on 2/6, on 2/13 or 2/14 I should have an IUI. And then we wait....
Link to Chart (if applicable): n/a
Thoughts: This is our first IUI. DF's sperm count is low 2mil and has mobility problems. I'm a little nervous but hopeful. Oh and our wedding is in June so I'm super stressed trying to plan a wedding and making a baby. Both of our mothers are very "invovled" in the plans and I have reached the point where Vegas is sounding really good right now. Hopefully good news this month will make all the wedding stuff seem trivial.

pugmomma~ It is very stressful! I have set the date to test 2/19...but I will probably cave and test before.

blueyezz~ You were totally head on about the OHSS! I have that and the nurse has called me in some meds to take care of the throwing up until i can see them tomorrow morning at 8am! I guess they are going to do some b/w on me and do another u/s to see how much fluid really is built up.

I really feel horrible this afternoon. Me and my BFF went and ate at a local deli for lunch and I barely made it inside my house before I was throwing up again. My stomach is so destinded that i look like i'm about 4 1/2 months pregnant....The nurse said that because i am short the fluid has less room to go to than it would for a taller person...so I will see how things go for me tomorrow morning at the doctor's office. I just hope DH keeps his mouth shut and doesn't try to get mouthy...he does have a problem with trying to tell everyone what they are doing wrong lately...and it's caused a few rifts with us lol...I'll let you ladies know how tomorrow goes. I'm sure it will take me until tomorrow afternoon to find out the results to my tests...but i've taken off work tonight and I might take off work tomorrow night just to make sure i'm doing okay. (Especially if they end up draining any of this fluid off of me!)

Thanks for the welcome back. Perhaps posting here was good luck, because I FINALLY GOT MY PERIOD after a 53 day cycle!

Normally, of course, this would not be a joyous occasion, but it was a tough decision to decide to start trying again... and then, of course, I had to wait an extra three weeks for day 1! It's never easy, haha.

Laura , wife to Jeremy : since 7-23-06. MFI caused by a Robertsonian translocation; starting DIUI cycle #5, this time with injectables. Trying to hang in there.
