Well, my title kinda explains it all!!!! My DH researched online and found that if you go to Israel (i know, it sounds crazy) an IVF is sooooooo much cheaper, even with the plane flight. Just thought i'd throw it out there and see if anyone or anyone know someone that has done this and what their experience was. Thanks!!!

After 5 failed IUI's & 6 failed IVF's we threw in the towel w/ ART and then got a NATURAL miracle BFP! Hoping and praying it is finally our take home baby!  Mother to our twins boys in heaven -lost at 22.5wks on 6/20/09 and 1 other little angel in heaven.

I have been researching this myself. What I have learned is there are clinics all over including Czechoslovakia, Mexico, Turkey etc... From another message board I learned to avoid using IVFvacations dot com because you can go through the clinics directly and set everything up without the added fee from IVFVdc.

I am looking for clinic to possibly do a natural cycle IVF and would totally consider going abroad. The clinic in zlin Czechoslovakia looked promising.

If you learn anything else I would be interested in hearing it as I was just coming over here to look for information myself.

Just wanted to add that my TCM doctor told me she had a patient who went to a clinic in Prague and she was very pleased with the clinic and her experience. Unfortunately, I didn't ask which one.

I think total cost for the clinic in Zlin was $6,000 that includes all travel costs and it includes the IVFvacation dot com fee so you can eliminate that charge which I think was about $800-$1500 not exactly sure.

From what my DH found... if you go to Israel you can do an IVF for like $3500 which includes your med. Our clinic here charges like almost $10,000 just for the procedure/testing and that does not include your meds which can be another 2,000 to 4,000 dollars in addition. I guess they are like the 2nd place to ever do IVF's in general so they know what they are doing or so it sounds. I'd have to take a medical leave from work and i'm not sure how that would work. We will see, it was just a thought.

I am so glad that you two brought this up! It's something that has never even entered my mind, but it is very intriguing. Cape Town, Africa looks like a nice (and cheap) place to make a baby

I'd consider it.

We did fertility treatments in Costa Rica to conceive ds & I was really impressed with the care. In fact I wish I had that same care this time around.

Surviving sleep deprivation one day at a time with dd (Oct '11) & ds (Oct '08).

I think we should start a list of the places that look promising. That way all the info would be in one place.

I thought about this too. But I can't seem to find any info on how long you have to be in the destination country for. If I have to take a full month off of work, then the savings isn't as good.

Any ideas?

It all just seems too good to be true (price), but in a way it's a little scary to go to another country for something like this. I just wish there was someone out there that has done this somewhere outside of the USA that could fully recommend their place.

Wow, this is really interesting. I am so glad you brought this up. I have a friend who had back surgery in the UK last summer because it was so much cheaper, even including the flight and the 2 1/2 week stay at a fancy hotel. Would love to hear about somebody who has done it!

Mom to DS 12/07 and DD 11/13, plus a bunch of chickens, dogs, and cats.

Moving past many years of infertility and always thinking of my friends in the infertility forums.

Hi Ladies.....I'm wondering if the clinics you have specifically looked at would be willing to provide a reference from the US???

Tricia - great idea!!! I won't have any time until maybe this weekend to look into that, but we will see. I just can't believe there isn't anyone out there to share their experience. Maybe everyone that has gone over-seas has their wonderful "bundle of joy" and they don't have time for the forum anymore.

My understanding is that if you're Jewish you can get IVF in Israel for almost free...

There is a lot of discussion on another board, the Resolve site, about going to Zlin for donor egg. Haven't really followed the thread, but it sounds like the care is top notch and professional--and quite a bit cheaper (~$7-8000 for DE, including airfare).

I think the information is out there, it's just a little tricky to find.

If we have to consider DE, I think I will go this route...

Looks like it's time to convert!!!! LOL j/k!!!! Thanks for the info, I'll have to check it out on the other site. I made the mistake of mentioning it to my mother who flipped and was all worried about them messing up our eggs and giving us someone else's!!!! Should have never opened my mouth. Haha. We will probably end up doing it here, but it is very intriguing to me and I would love to save some $ by doing it over-seas... I mean, what a experience and a great story you'd have to tell once you were holding that bundle of joy!!!!!

DH and I are Jewish, and we have family in Israel, so this actually sounds perfect if we move on to doing this because we could stay with family. How do I found out more about this? I know that if you are an Israeli citizen then IVF is free but we aren't. What is the website?

Hopefully you won't get to that point, but you are sure lucky if you do since you have family over there!! I don't know the website, but I have just been googling things like Israel and IVF or Costa Rica and IVF and you can usually find them pretty easily there. Good luck to you!!

I have been looking into this too, I am Jewish and considering moving to Israel anyway so that is very much an option for me. I hear it is much less expensive. I looked into Costa Rica and it seems very lax when it comes to going there and seeking medical treatment.

I know of a woman on a different board who went to Zlin and had an absolutely beautiful experience (and a new baby here soon!). She said the clinic was professional and clean, the scenery and touristy things were fun and the people were wonderful.

Hello, ladies,

I am an Israeli, I have done 10 cycles of IVF with one successful cycle - DD now a year and a half.
I would like to put some things straight:
First of all many women do come to Israel from all over the world for treatment because it is cheaper. I have had foreign women with me during ER and ET, the main problem was language. Israelis are good in English for the most part, but women from other parts of the world had problems with translations. Please take that into account when considering to do it abroad. There is a lot of info in IVF that is essential you understand, especially if it comes to instructions on taking meds and such.

Second, our national insurance covers most of the cost of the first two kids. A committee has to approve you (based on age and RE's recommendations). Everyone is covered. It does not have to do with your religion. This is a democratic county! I have done IVF with Bedouins and Arab women. As expected, they were treated as equally as the Jewish majority in the ward. Being a foreigner, even if you are Jewish, will not give you a discount. You must be a citizen to be included in the National Health Insurance policy. Each worker pays a substantial part of his/her salary for health insurance, it is a socialist country, not a capitalist one. Benefits and drawbacks come with each society we choose to live in.

I do believe that RE's in Israel are very highly qualified. I know that their work is renowned world wide. They don't have the same pressure to get their statistics proper, so they won't treat you with this ulterior motive (or not treat you). Since Israelis can afford to do multiple cycles, the RE's can study you better, tweak treatments and innovate. I a sure this makes them better doctors than the ones who might see a patient twice, because that is all she can afford, or she will transfer to a different clinic.

I'd love to add more, but this post is too long as it is sorry

Oh, and it is a wonderful place for a vacation
.
Feel free to ask anything!

This is all a great idea. What about Mexico? I'm sure it would be just as affordable as an overseas clinic with cheaper travel cost and close-by so you could fly back/forth if you had to for any reason. But I would want a good recommendation for a good RE. I think a flight to Israel alone is about $2000 vs. maybe a few hundred to MX. I paid $750 for 3 ultrasounds alone this month, which would probably cost a small fraction of that in a different country. (But knowing me I'd probably be too scared to do it somewhere else! For example a dear relative of mine when she was in her 20s went on a trip to one of the former soviet republics and had an emergency appendectomy done, I don't know the details but they did something wrong and she is now incapable of conceiving and is unable to sue for malpractice so you have to look into all the international laws to protect yourself just in case)

Hi Sondacop!

I live in UK and am looking at travelling to Israel for ICSI - found your post on here and thought I would contact you and ask if you could recommend anywhere to do it?

I have done three rounds in the UK with no luck and am now looking to Israel to help!

I have read your posts and you sound as if you have been there as well - would love any advice you have to give and recommendations of a great clinic in Israel if you know of one?

Hi Natasha!

I live in Israel, and I have done cycles in 3 different clinics and I know of others. What exactly do you want to know? They all do ICSI. Good luck!

Hi, so good to hear from you - I saw that you'd last posted in 2010 I think so didn't think you'd still be on here. I've done three rounds of ICSI (husbands low sperm count /my endemetriosis and age - I've just turned 40).  I produce eggs, they even get to blastocyst stage in the lab, but when they do the embryo transfer I just don't get pregnant.

No idea why not - I read you have 10 rounds under your belt so you probably know even more then me by now about the factors involved.

I know it's probably a numbers game, and thought to come to Israel to try another round. Out of the clinics you've tried do you think there is one that is better then the others? I'd be really interested to know what you think.

I know Israel from holidaying there, but it's hard to differentiate sitting here which clinic offers the best chances - I know Hadassah hospital has good reputation and Assuta in Tel Aviv.

Here in the UK I have gone through the NHS and to be honest they were not closely monitoring after the egg transfer and did not use as many drugs as the private clinic I went to, so I know there can be big differences in the treatment.Sure this must be the same in Israel, so would be very appreciative to know what you think from your experience.

Very best wishes

Natasha

Once you subscribe, it just pops up in your e-mail, I am sure there is a great science fiction story waiting to be written on this theme :-)

I did a total of 19 rounds of IVF all in all, and you will never believe what worked for me in the end - a natural IUI with DHEA. I just gave birth to a boy on September 21st! I am 43, been ttc #2 for 4 years - did 15 IVF cycles and 5 IUI cycles for this kid. #1 was achieved after 8 IUI's and 4 IVF cycles.

I did rounds in Assuta (Reshon LeZion), it was a very good place. I choose my own RE and was treated directly by him. I was monitored in my hometown and just had to travel to Assuta for ER and ET. I have friends being treated in Haddassah Har-HaZofim (there is a Haddassah Ein Kerem too), and I think that I got better care in Assuta. What type of monitoring did you have in mind for after ET? Sometimes I did B\W mid 2ww. As for the drugs - there are different protocols, and different doses. For some reason, EPP is not used here at all. LLP is used mostly on younger women, and either the antagonist protocol or the flare protocol (MDL) is used, with or without BCP's before cycle starts. I have been on growth hormone, had AH done, you name it, nothing took with me either.
