Anyone know anything about the SCSA analysis? My understanding of it is that it tests for DNA fragmentation/damage to the sperm and that a standard semen analysis can show everything to be fine, despite having DNA fragmentation. Do all places offer the SCSA testing and if not, any idea how to find a place that would have this test?

Dear readers,

The SCSA is the abbreviation of Sperm Chromatin Structure Assay. It analyses how well the DNA is packed in the sperm. If it isn't packed well, it is important to select the correct fertility treatment. Intra uterine insemination (IUI) as well as invitro fertilization (IVF) may be unsuccessful due to the fact that the DNA easily becomes fragmented. Sperm with fragmented DNA may fertilize the egg but the end result is not likely to be a baby since the development stops early or ends with a miscarriage. Please read more on www.spzlab.com or on www.scsadiagnostics.com
