X - wow 10 seems really great. I think sometimes there may be follicles that are empty or that the egg just doesn't come out for whatever reason. Also they may not have bothered retrieving from the smallest follicles.

Well 8 were mature and 4 fertilized. greensad.gif No miracles. It's almost the same as last cycle when I had 9 eggs, 6 mature and 3 fertilized. Last time all 3 made it to freeze-able blast. I can only hope that history repeats itself and all 4 make it to blast.

The only way I'd put any back is if at 5 or 6 days they say they're not good enough to freeze then I'll give them a chance in my uterus.

Xerxella - I'm sending positive vibes to your 4 embryos, I hope they turn into amazing blasts!

AFM - just got my blood test results. I'm 12dp3dt (aka 15 dpo) and my beta is at 148. That seems like a pretty good number to me, according to betabase the average for 15dpo is 139. My second beta is on Wednesday.

Well the nurse called today and I missed the call. (It was way before they usually call and when I called back everyone was gone for Labor Day.) So all she said was all 4 continue to cleave and she'll let the lab follow up with me. So, that's all I know. But I guess it's not bad news, but I wish I had more information. Are they 4 cell? What the fragmentation? What about the immature eggs? Did they try to mature them in vitro? How/why did the other eggs not fertilize? Etc.

Xerxella - I'm glad all 4 are still in the running but I know how frustrating it must be to not have answers to your questions. I hope you get more news soon.

If everything looks good at my 2nd beta on Wednesday, they'll give me the appointment for the u/s when they call me with the beta results. Last time my appointment was at around 7 weeks so I'm assuming my ultrasound would be around Sept 22. I'm praying so hard that I'll make it to the ultrasound this time! Last time I miscarried a week before.

Thanks toothfairy smile.gif

Tracy - I'm still pretty nervous about my beta doubling and even if it does, I'll still be nervous about having a miscarriage. I don't have many pregnancy symptoms yet which isn't surprising considering I'm 4weeks1day. I'm having a bit of nausea but it's probably from the Crinone since its been here for a while. I also have been waking up crazy early every morning, probably because I'm excited to POAS (I'm still testing every day).

AAM - They take FOREVER to call me back. 1 is an 8 cell and 3 are 6 cells with no fragmentation. They look perfect according to the embryologist. Whew. I can breathe for another day. I know they're supposed to be 8 cell today, but I also know that they check all the embryos first thing in the morning and they're not fertilized until closer to noon last Saturday, so I'm not TTOOOOO worried that those 3 are just 6 cells. I think tomorrow will really be telling.

Sourire - YAY!! Praying hard that this is a sticky baby and that you have smooth sailing from here on out! Praying that your beta doubles!!!

X - Praying for your embryos! When will you know more?

AFM - I was pretty hopeful last cycle until 4 straight days of dropping temps. At my longest LP ever of 17 days... finally got AF again. Got my day 3 tests (blood and ultrasound), so now I'm waiting to O at CD5 and waiting for our follow-up appointment at the RE on September 10 (DH got a third semen analysis 2 weeks ago). Then hopefully we'll have a plan. I've never hoped that something was wrong with me so hard - so we can fix something and I can get KU already!

Just got the call! My first beta two days ago was 148 so I expected the 2nd beta today to be around 300 but it was 448! I'm so excited! That's a doubling time of just 30 hours!

Edited to add: I just realised that my beta is exactly triple the last one. How crazy is that?

AFM - All 4 are still alive and kicking. One is at the morula stage and the other 3 are "on their way." I'm feeling pretty confident that we'll get at least one frozen blast, hopefully tomorrow. If the other 3 are going to make it, it'll be on day 6.

AAM - Just because I have to tell somebody somewhere... 2 are early blasts and the embryologist said they might be ready to freeze this afternoon or tomorrow morning and the other 2 are compacted morulas and might be ready tomorrow. The embryologist was very pleased with their progress and felt we should be able to freeze them all. Then she corrected herself and said I shouldn't say that, you should be able to freeze something from this cycle. Woo-hoo!!!!!

And on a side note, any ideas on what's wrong with me? orngtongue.gif Seriously, why would I consistently have a low fertilization rate, but everything that fertilizes makes it to blast. Last time 9 eggs, 6 mature, 3 fertilized and 3 blasts. This time 10 eggs, 8 mature, 4 fertilized and 4 made it to blast (hopefully). Is it possible that I just make embryos that make it to blast consistently even if their aneuploid? Then I get pregnant, but miscarry?

X - great news! It's true that it's pretty rare for 100% of fertilized embryos to make it to blast.... but you do have a fertilization rate of just 50%, maybe all your eggs are either horrible or amazing with none in between? lol

X - great news!! I have no idea what is wrong with you. When you had your first cycle, I thought you just had poor egg quality because that is what I have and I always get low fertilization. But none of mine ever make it to blast... so that can't be it for you. My eggs always looked horrible and stayed that way. You have some great ones.

A little late to the party, but YAY for an awesome second beta, Sourire!! So, so hoping and praying this is your take-home baby, and that you make your third checkpoint of seeing the heartbeat. For me, waiting to hear the heartbeat for the first time is the most nerve-wracking part of pregnancy. It is FOREVER between BFP and that heartbeat. At least, that's the way it feels to me. Hugs and prayers for a peaceful wait for you!

Thanks Monkey! I may or may not have been stalking the May DDC recently and was excited to see a familiar name there! Congrats!

I am not ready to join any DDCs yet given that I haven't even passed the point when I miscarried last time (today I'm 4w4d, last time I started bleeding at 5w0d but didn't complete the miscarriage until 6w4d so I have a lot of milestones to get past still), but if I am lucky enough to see a heartbeat on my ultrasound Sept 23 I will definitely come hang out with you there!

The fact that you got pregnant so easily the 2nd time around after all you went through to have your first gives me hope that I may not have to go through years of misery once I started trying for a second child! My doctor seems to have found the magic formula for me at last (I've had 2 BFP's in 2 FETs since I started this new protocol) so it looks like for me it may no longer be a question of getting pregnant but rather staying pregnant.
