lilacvioletiris 03-29-2013 01:16 PM

rcr, we are putting 2 two day embryos back in tomorrow morning.

Sourire 03-29-2013 01:28 PM

Laggie - wow that coat story is nuts.

indie - I've always had super thick linings so I'm not worried about my lining being too thin this cycle, but I'm interested to see if the Lupron will make a difference in the thickness. I'll find out on April 7th when I have my u/s to check the lining.

Lilac and Laggie - I could end up in the December DDC too! If I have my transfer on April 14th as planned and get a BFP, my due date would be December 31.

Lilac - Wow 14 out of 14 fertilized! That's wonderful! The main reason given for later transfers is that it gives you more time to select the best possible embryo. I read a study that showed that even if you have a perfect embryo at day 3, it only has a 50% chance of surviving to day 5. So the longer you wait, the easier it is to select a winning embryo because the others will self-eliminate, and that leads to higher pregnancy rates. I'm assuming it's the same idea for 2-day vs 3-day transfer. I've also read that the first 3 days of embryo development are controlled by genes coming from the mother, and dad's genes don't start contributing until day 4. So sometimes when there's an issue with the sperm, people will have great looking embryos up until day 3, then they will all start deteriorating rapidly right after. Good luck with your embryo transfer tomorrow morning!

Silver - I'm glad to hear good news about your relationship! Hopefully you reach the point where you can start TTC again soon.

Two beautiful embryos were transferred this morning. We have 11 to freeze because one of to 14 didn't survive overnight. My husband and I cried as we looked at the photo of our 4 celled babies. Laid at the clinic for an hour and now we are on our way home. Dr. Dodds gave me a prescription for estrace in addition to the prometrium tablets I have already been taking. Now the bedrest for the rest of the weekend and waiting for my beta on April 10

Xerxella 03-30-2013 09:42 AM

Yeah lilac!!!!!! That's a great start! Good luck!

Laggie - that coat story is nuts! Too bad the cops didn't get back in time. But she probably didn't have the coat anyways and was, of course, just looking to rob you for the $40.

RCR - I still keeping everything crossed for your next beta and the u/s.

AFM - yes they'll do a natural start but not much else different. Before the BCP I had an AFC of 15. I hope that we'll be back to that after this cycle.

rcr~ how are you feeling???

hope4light 03-30-2013 07:53 PM

congrats lilac!!

lilacvioletiris 03-31-2013 06:59 AM

Can I just say that strict bedrest is really hard! My back started to hurt by late evening. I don't usually lay on my back for hours. All I could do was get up for the bathroom. Today I can change positions but still need to be horizontal.

Happy Easter! I hope my embryos are growing well inside of me. DH is finally awake. I am hungry but I have to wait for him to make me some food. I asked for scrambled eggs, toast, and some veggie sausage patties.

Hope everyone else's Easter is a great one! Is any one else doing something special?

rcr 03-31-2013 03:04 PM

Tracy and X - thanks for asking about me. I am feeling ok. I am having a really hard time not picking heavy stuff up. Today I naturally picked up my friend's baby and I commented about how much lighter she is than DS, and my friend replied that she is already 25 lbs. oops.  I got DS some skates for Easter, and had to pick him up because he kept falling. My beta is tomorrow. I am trying to just stalk this thread more, and move on to the grads thread, but I will post my beta here as soon as I find out what it is tomorrow. still feeling crampy every now and then, but my boobs hurt a lot, so I am feeling good about that.

Lilac - congrats!! I know what you mean abut bed rest. My RE doesn't do bed rest, but I tried to do it myself and after a while my back started hurting really bad.

lilacvioletiris 03-31-2013 03:19 PM

Rcr, that is the weirdest thing about iVf- there is no "standard" for things like bedrest, when to transfer, etc. I am looking forward to your beta. When do you have a scan to determine if it is one or two babies?

rcr 03-31-2013 07:49 PM

Lilac - I am not sure when the scan is. I was so excited when they called the first time I didn't get any details except when to come in for my next beta. I will ask tomorrow.

Tear78 03-31-2013 08:02 PM

rcr, thinking of you tomorrow! love.gif

Laggie 04-01-2013 11:27 AM

lilac - Congratulations, you have so many totsicles! I think some doctors recommend bed rest because they think it is less stressful for women to "take it easy" after IVF. But if you're anything like me, laying in bed is way more stressful than just going about my regular life. Luckily for me my doctor doesn't suggest bed rest at all.

rcr - I keep lifting things too. And then I was weeding the garden (I did get DH to do the digging) and I'm sure that's equivalent to lifting 10+ pounds, when I have to pull out big clumps of weeds and old plants. I'm trying to be careful, but 10 pounds is really nothing so it's hard.

My back has been hurting a lot, and I was thinking it was our mattress - unfortunately the new one we got last weekend hasn't helped. Normally I would go to yoga to fix it, but I think all of the back strengthening exercises involve balancing on my stomach, and that seems like a bad idea. I tried a restorative class, but laying around on pillows doesn't feel like it's doing much... I'm getting a massage today so hopefully that will help.

rcr 04-01-2013 02:38 PM

second beta 8704. i cant bring up a calculator on my phone so i am not sure what that means. she said it was more than doubling though

ETA - doubling time of 39.12 hours.

tracyamber 04-01-2013 10:08 PM

rcr~ WOW!!!!!!!! congrats again...and you are feeling normal..no symptoms?smile.gif

RCR- that's fantastic!!!!!

lilacvioletiris 04-02-2013 03:52 AM

Wow, that is amazing rcr! congratulations on great numbers.

Any of you had . weird sort of in your lungs pain that seems to happen more when you breath out after you ivf? Pain started yesterday, nothing acute, just annoying tightening in my chest on both sides. Doesn't happen every time I breath either. I am going to call the doctor this morning but they don't open for 2 hours. In good news, I am officially an aunt, my sister had here baby this morning at 1:30 am on April 2. She really didn't want the birth on April 1 and her labor lasted to the next day. My niece is cute!

Sourire 04-02-2013 05:20 AM

Lilac - your niece has the same birthday as me! Yes i had difficulty breathing a few days after my ER, because of my OHSS my abdomen filled up with fluid which was compressing my lungs. I hope it's not that!

Rcr - congrats on the great 2nd beta!

lilacvioletiris 04-02-2013 06:20 AM

Well, I just talked to the nurse and she said to monitor myself if I get nauseous or vomit, sudden swelling, have to go pee all the time, or shortness of breath. None of which I have, just this chest tightness which seems to have been minimized by taking Tylenol a couple hours ago. I will just relax again today and call them if it gets worse or one of those other symptoms come up. Oh and I don't have a higher than normal temperature.

tracyamber 04-02-2013 08:34 AM

my head throbs..migraine! anyone else get migraines from lupron???? it happened last cycle too. i can only stand straight up right now. im an hour out of town...urrrrr. i just wish this process was easier..thanks for reading..

Laggie 04-02-2013 12:35 PM

tracy - I got headaches from Lupron. Not migraines but I've never had one. I was told that drinking alcohol with lupron can trigger them, but I had headaches without alcohol too.

lilac - I haven't had chest tightness or pain, but my massage therapist did some work on my diaphragm yesterday and I had some really painful tight spots that she released. I feel like I can breathe so much deeper now. She said it was from sitting hunched over at the computer.

rcr - holy crap!  energy.gifenergy.gif Is that a super high number? I guess it's been a week but still. Wow. How are you feeling?

hope4light 04-02-2013 01:19 PM

rcr - that's amazing!!!!!

tracy - I had horrible headaches, a lot of them migraine level, on lupron. Hang in there!

lilac - I also had shortness of breath caused by my OHSS.  It started out annoying, but as my TWW went by it got worse.  The day before my beta I called and they added in some blood work and an ultrasound to check and I did have moderate OHSS.  They actually gave me an infusion of some of the 'stuff' I was low on (I think it was Albumin if I remember correctly) to help with the symptoms.. it did help but I was uncomfy for a while into the pregnancy....

lilacvioletiris 04-02-2013 02:00 PM

Thanks hope4light, I have been reading up on some vegetarian sources of albumin and see if that can help get this pain to go away.

AFM, I was just contemplating when what I would see if I am pregnant at my next RE appointment.  I found this cool website that has ultrasound scans for each week of gestation.  Really cool. http://www.baby2see.com/development/ultrasound_sonogram/first_trimester_scans.html#week5

Right now my follow up with the RE is at 5 weeks gestation but it means I would have to miss school again. If I waited 2 weeks, I could go in the morning when all my students are at a special program, not miss teaching and be at 7 weeks gestation. If I am pregnant, I think I will change my appointment after my beta tests. I would rather not ultrasound my babies too often.

tracyamber 04-02-2013 02:20 PM

hope4light and laggie~ thanks for reading and posting. im a bit better now. dh had to leave work..teaching to drive into town to pick up a prescription for me called in by my re. i have 7 more days on lupron. it was so bad i was crying for 2 hours..............bummer for me.

lilacvioletiris~ sorry to hear about your symptoms. i did check out that website and it was pretty cool !
