Hello everyone,

I will try to do a few personals this morning.

@girlspn -We are headed directly to IVF because of the issues surrounding my husband. If we decide later on to try donor sperm, we could try IUI; but I feel like my husband deserves a chance to try for a biological child. I know at our clinic the rates of success (especially at our age range) are much higher at IVF than IUI. Definitely talk to your doctor and weigh your pros and cons dear.

I hate to say money factors in but it should- its finite resource after all.

Hugs @rcr

@tracyamber -I was told to take at least 1000 units of vitamin D to help with implementation.

@chuord -hugs, the entire process is emotional, definitely express it here or send me a private message if needed

@mainebaby -glad you got a great number of frosties!

Hello and hugs for everyone else! How are you all doing?

AF has found me as expected- not feeling great- getting ready for the blizzard tomorrow. Going in for my rubella shot today too :(, nervous about it- I hate needles. Not sure how to figure out if this is day 1 or not- still kinda spotting early this morning.

Me 28, DH 30 , 2 Kitties and working towards having Baby #1.

Thanks everyone for the congrats on frosties!

@girlspn - That’s exciting! Hoping IUI works for you :)

@chuord - Sending you hugs & thinking of you. :HugWeird about your progesterone #s… hope next cycle you can get it up where it’s supposed to be! Isn’t it frustrating when docs go on vacation? (I wish in the US we called it “holiday”, haha, sounds so much fancier!) Of course they get their time off, too, but it’s annoying to have to wait. Here they do IVF in “batches”, so the doctor could potentially be gone for much of the month if he needed to, as long as he was here for the consultation, retrieval & transfer! GL to you in your next cycle, and fx for it to be next month! dust.gif

@tinytina - I’m sorry about AF coming. IVF vs IUI is a hard decision, but your situation seems to be more of a question of what you as a couple want. And I hear you on money being a finite resource!! :truedat:

The pollen has taken its toll on me so I'm pretty sick today. DH threw his back out so he's limping around in horrible pain. He was literally screaming and yelling all night and scared our poor DS in sleep. I forgot to temp today but I'm day 2 post-clomid-round 3 so hopefully I can remember to temp tomorrow.

Hey all! I'm back from China with a BFN so that just sucks. So that's 3 months with BFNs since the last loss. I'm afraid I'm going from having a problem with miscarriage to having a problem getting pregnant to begin with. greensad.gif I'm pretty angry about it, but I guess that's to be expected. I wish the Bitter Sushi Ladies was still up and running so I could join them and rant.

I feel like I shouldn't complain because I DO have 2 beautiful healthy children, but I'm angry all the same to have had my choices taken away from me. I'm sure you all understand.

And mostly I'm missing my kids and my husband and home. And I'm sitting at Reagan in DC with the snow coming in and hoping my plane to O'Hare gets out. greensad.gif

@rcr I will go look at the picture. Donor eggs is what we are doing and I feel really good about everything.
@naturallymo the alder and juniper trees Are driving me crazy here, plus I have a cold*sigh*
@tinytinasending hugs and all the energy to help you feel better.
@adiejan how are you feeling?
@Xerxella so nice to see a post from you. I am sorry about your bfn. That freaking sucks. First or 3 child, we all are trying to expand our family and you have all the right to feel frustrated. Hugs

Everyone else, I either forgot or just can't remember everyone's cycle details but hola.gif none the less!

ETA: husbands tay sachs and other tests came back fine so that is good news. My vitamin D levels came back low so I am on 2,000 mg a day. We live on the 45th parallel and apparently if you live above the 37th latitude no many how much sun you get, it won't be enough in winter and spring months.

@Xerxella  - We totally understand.  It sucks when the coice of family size is made for us.  I hate that it's so not up to us to decide for ourselves.  Rant away!  I'm sorry about the BFN.  That sucks so bad.  :Hug

AFM - Retrieval went well this morning.  We got 7 eggs.  In a lot of ways, I'm feeling heaps better, but the soreness is pretty bad.  I'm planning to sleep away the day today.  I'll have the maturation and fertilization report tomorrow.

To those of you who have gone through IVF, have you ever had to pee a LOT after retrieval? I don’t remember this after my other cycles, but I’m peeing like every 30-60 minutes. And my bladder is FULL each time, like painful-run to the toilet- kind of peeing.

Sorry for the TMI, but I’m debating whether or not this is weird enough to call the clinic. I feel fine otherwise, just usual soreness. The full painful feelings are gone. No fever either, which is what they told me to watch for. Maybe I was retaining a lot of water before and now i’m releasing it? Google isn’t helping much, I’m getting a lot of “I was 6+ days post retrieval and peeing….”

Hi all smile.gif
Tracy - yep he said we can do a day 7 progesterone blood to check it... Possibly low because my body knew it wasn't pg and was starting to wind down... He's not too worried but will monitor.
Kewpie - if in doubt call the nurse and ask anyway, it'll save you the stress of wondering. It sounds like a good thing to me, if it's flowing through so well it can't be building up inside right?
Hugs to Tina and X it's a rough journey, but at least we have a good place to complain and ask questions wink1.gif
Has anyone done a 'down reg cycle' ? If my ovaries are too beat up to stim again that's what we're doing... Follistim from day 6, day 19 scan to confirm o and synarel spray (hcg) from o onwards as support... He likes to mix up the protocol to see which I respond to better.

me 39, DH 39, one (TTC since November 2012) At least one confirmed chem.Ivf #1 march 2014 - 6 day 6 blasts, two transferred bfn, 4 frosties. Ivf #2 may, cancelled, Ivf #3 July two transferred, 3 frosties... BFP! 15dpo 336 hcg, 17dpo 681 hcg... Scan at 6+4 wks - twins!! Feeling more blessed than words

@Xerxella- Welcome home! I hope you had a good trip. Sorry about the BFN...feel free to rant at anytime! We all get it!!

@Kewpie80- nice job on those eggies mama! No fx for nice strong embies!! I really can't remember the peeing thing...sorry.

@tracyamber- I'm...well...moving one step at a time. I am incredibly depressed...I have major depressive disorder to begin with so large situational stressors can trigger a recurrent episode...which I am in. Luckily I can employ strategies to work through it. Thank you so much for asking. It means a lot. I feel a lot of times like people can only have sympathy for so long before they're ready for you to move on. Anyhoo...rant over haha...bet ya didn't bargain for that wink1.gif

Good news on the Tay Sachs! I have heard that about the vitamin D and have actually felt better since starting it last fall. Let me know if you feel different at all smile.gif

@chuord- I have no idea what a down reg cycle is...can you explain?

@NaturallyMo - Hoping your allergies calm down soon & your DH’s back feels better.

@Xerxella - So sorry about your BFN.

@tracyamber - Glad to hear your genetic testing came back OK. I just went & researched latitudes & sunlight hours now, LOL. Are you sure you mean mg? Or mcg or iu? My vitamin says 400iu & to get 4000mg that would be a LOT of vitamins! I’m curious now because like you, we live in Maine & I definitely hear you on the limited daylight hours.

@Kewpie80 - Hooray for 7!! :joyHope your soreness goes away quickly. Regular strength Tylenol helped me a little, but it took 3 days to feel OK again. Yes to the frequent urination; I was going all the time & it hurt my abdomen muscles so much! Every day when the nurses called me to check in I would tell them my “symptoms” & ask if they thought I had OHSS because I was SO scared to die or something from it! Nurses told me as long as you’re not bleeding, feverish, or unable to pee that much, and if your belly isn’t distended, you’re fine. Keep in touch with your nurse though, just in case. Now go take a nap with a heating pad on your belly! :sleepytime

@chuord - So have you decided to do the “down reg cycle”? I’ve also never heard of it. Wonder if it’s an Australian thing, hehe. Jk! Hope you are healing & taking it easy; thinking of you.

How do you get the names to appear in blue like @xerxella see mine stay in black.

@xerxella...welcome back. I'm sorry about the bfn. It stinks having the decision made for you as far as number of kids. I never liked the enjoy the ones you have comment people have said...who says We're not? And I know this is belated but it occurred to be I never said I was sorry about the loss of your brother who was stillborn. And I'm sorry that happened to your mom. Hugs

@chuord...big hugs. I'm sorry...not that that helps. I don't know what a down cycle is either.

@tracyamber...very excited for you. That's really interesting about the vitamin d. So amazing the things we find out.

@kewpie80...yippee yipee. That's great....lucky 7.

@adiejan...I am glad you are hanging in there. This fertility stuff is so emotional and don't ever think people will want too be on. Vent away. Your feelings are real and that's what we are here for.

@mainebaby..congrats again on the frostiness!!

@tina..my dr said bleeding after 5:30 pm counts the next day but blood is day 1. Maybe they can clarify for you??

@girlspn...fingers crossed for the iui.

afm I had my iui this morning.

@mainebaby I meant iu . Otherwise that would be a lot. I'm in oregon and the spot we live on is exactly on the 45 parallel, half way between the North Pole and the equator. I love telling people and we have signs all over the town on where the spot is and our high school paper is called the 45 th parallel. And congrats on your ice embies too
@adiejan it's hard this journey. I am sending you many hugs and the grieving can take a long time. I am glad you have found some things to help with the sadness. Any herbal tinctures like St. John's wort or even motherwort? Magnesium chloride foot soaks are great too. Very calming. I just made some oil to spray all over. ( hugs) did you read on the last thread? I was so sad so much but got so much support so I am saying please tell us how you are feeling. I have hugs to give everyday!
@ilovemykiddos congrats on your IUI. Are you taking it easy or is it life as usual?[
@Kewpie80I would call your clinic to see if they can test you for a urine infection. It sounds like one to me. If you have one Dmannose powder works awesome and makes it impossible for the bacteria to stick. Cranberries are great. The mannose is extra great.

@ilovemykiddos you get the names blue by selecting/clicking the name when it pops up (should show a blue box when you start typing the name after @ symbol) if you're on a pc and if on a phone, you select the @ symbol up by the bold and attachment buttons.

Lol we call it 'holiday' here too wink1.gif I thought by saying 'vacation' I was making it more american... Hehehe

Re down reg cycle - I asked him if I could use synarel next time (nasal spray trigger) as it's less likely to cause as much bloating as the pregnyl... He then explained the 'down reg cycle' which also includes the syranel... Lol and aside from the description I gave you guys I have no idea either... It seems that you stim more slowly, bd at home as normal and have a scan to confirm o... I think he said it was a gentler approach and works better for some people... Also after o you take the hcg Nadal spray daily. Lol if I'm not good to go with ivf I guess we'll find out smile.gif

Hello ladies,

I'm reading along and cheering everyone on. I'm into mya 4th month of clomid now and waiting to O. The clomid hit me hard this month and I got really emotional and tearful on it, nasty stuff!!

Just wanted to add on the vitamin D discussion. Living in the Uk we have little (no) sun! My specialist advised vitamin D too. She also suggested I take calcium with it. I can't remember whether calcium helps absorb the vit D or vit D is needed to absorb calcium?? However she paired the two together and suggested I take both. Hope that helps!

@ilovemykiddos - Start writing @ then the name, & when it come up, select it. GL with your IUI!! And TY for the congrats!

@tracyamber - Thanks for clearing that up, haha. And sorry, I meant to say like you I live in a higher latitude, not that you *also* live in Maine. That’s cool about you being right on the 45th.

Hello everyone,

I know I should give more personals right now and I am sorry I don't have time to right now. I will try to later today.

Waiting for the snow to start, hoping work gets cancelled before I am suppose to go in this evening

@oxford- I think calcium helps the body absorb vitamin D

Thanks for the advice/information @ilovemykiddos and @adiejan

TMI alert on AF- moderator amount of cramping, light pink in color, light flow- so still not 100% sure when to say Day 1 is which frightens me --this is not typical. I have had a rough time with the cramps since going off of birth control but normally the flow is better. Started spotting Monday, worse yesterday, cramps are even worse this morning.

Now here are my personals-- No work today (they called by lunch time because they were closing). Its full on blizzard mode here. I am glad to stay home.

Thanks @mainebaby - we have been working hard to get our finances in line especially as my part-time job comes to an end

@NaturallyMo -hope you are feeling better today- I suffer from allergies too and hope your DH's back is better today

Thanks @adiejan - not feeling too bad today overall, a bit of a headache (weather changes). Thanks for the advice about day 1- I marked it as today but flow is still lighter than normal. I noted that too on my calendar tho. I started spotting on Monday. Sorry to hear about your depression dear- its a hard demon to fight. I have suffered most of my life with it and an anxiety disorder. Private message me anytime you need to talk.

@Xerxella- hope you enjoyed your trip to China. Sorry to hear about your BFN. Hugs hun

@tracyamber - My doctor suggested taking more Vitamin D this winter and I would say that my overall SAD symptoms were lower throughout the winter months.

@Kewpie80- glad the retrieval went well. I know I will be picking your brain and some of the other ladies as we get closer to IVF. I need all the information I can get.

Hope the change in protocol works @chuord

Hope the IUI went well @ilovemykiddos

The hormones scare me @oxford

Sorry @Milk8shake- sometimes we need a good cry.

AFM - All 7 eggs were mature enough for ICSI.  6 of them fertilized.  My transfer will be friday afternoon and we’ll freeze the rest that make it to blast on sunday.

So if all make it, we’ll have 2 to transfer, 4 to freeze and with our other 2 frozen in NC, we will have enough embryos to do frozen transfers from here on out, which means I am done with IVF and can go with less invasive transfers to complete our family. Such a relief! Frozen transfers are a million times cheaper.  Nearly ready to start my 2ww.

@tinytina - I hope AF picks up to an acceptable level. I always feel better when it looks as it should. Maybe tonight or tomorrow it'll pick up and then that'd be cd 1.

@mainebaby - I haven't yet congratulated you! 9 blasts is amazing!!!!!! How old are you again? I seem to remember you being in your late 30's, right? So, what was your protocol exactly? Did you do anything different? (As I plan my next and last IVF I need all the tips I can get.)

@oxford - You were going to have this cycle monitored a little, right? Or am I misremembering that? I hope this is your final cycle and the clomid finally does the trick.

@chuord - Sorry about the BFN. I think you're right to do at least one more fresh cycle before tapping your frosties. You had such a great cycle, it makes sense to just try again. It sounds like your doc is just going to do a light stim cycle before the next IVF. I think I've asked you before and I'm sorry if you already answered, but can you share what you did last time to get all those great follicles? As I head into my fourth and final IVF I want to make sure I'm doing everything right.

@Kewpie - 7 out of 7 mature is awesome! I always have a few immatures. And 6 out of 7 to fertilize is great. ICSI right? What do you think you did better / right this time?

@ilovemykiddos - Congrats on the IUI. How many follicles did you have growing? How does the Mexico IVF plan look? I've heard good things about it. What do you think you'll do?

@adiejan - Are you just taking some time off for now? What and when do you think your next steps will be? (((hugs)))

@tracyamber - How's the donor going? When does she start stims?

@naturallymo - I hope this round treats you well. At least you're ovulating, but I'd prefer if the doc did a little more monitoring so you could see how many and how big the follicles are and how your lining is looking.

@Milk8shake - Big hugs as always. I cry on my way home a lot. It's a good time. There's no one around to explain yourself to or to feel awkward around or anything. DH is great, but I know how much it upsets him to see me cry. I really hope you'll do the surrogate thing. I think even if you figure it all out and go on to have a dozen children with your own uterus, you'll never regret having had your first via a surrogate. I know that surrogacy laws in Australia are complicated to say the least, but I know you can make it happen if you set your mind to it. (((hugs)))

AFM - I have a planning appointment with the doc tomorrow for our fourth and probably final IVF. My basic plan is to do as many trial runs as necessary to get a good IVF cycle. In the past I've gone to retrieval with low estrogen and it didn't turn out well, so I think if my estrogen isn't rising appropriately, we'll convert to IUI. And, 'll see what the doc says tomorrow about a plan.

Wow mainebaby I missed the 9 blasts smile.gif congrats lady that's great!
Kewpie - congrats on the fertilization wink1.gif fx for them all progressing - no more retrieval would be a blessing!
Milk8shake - I missed your post before deleted - but hugs, this whole IF process really is hard work. You sound like such a strong determined lady I'm sure you can find a way to make it happen.
@Xerxella - for stims I only did 187.5 gonal f, day 2 to day 11 with cetritide to block o from day 6 or 7, pregnyl 6500 to trigger on day 11 retrieval on day 13... Clexhane (blood thinner) from day 10 (missed day before and of retrieval)
Supps; dh takes multi vit, folate, zinc, q10, selenium, 10 pepitas or pumpkin seeds and some goji berries - aloe juice recommended to but he hates it.
Me - baby asprin (whole cycle), melatonin until trigger (egg antioxidant), vit b, folate, magnessium (me not doc), vit c, fish oil, q10, vit E. I think that's all, lol I know your protocol will be different - it seems I have a decent egg reserve so stimming extra is not as hard as some have it... The extra supps I think are great, the doc is mid 60's and specializes in aged eggs lol so he's learnt a few tricks to help get them in better shape.
Aside from that I got told to go with small meals high in fibre and protein pist retrieval and generally. Hope that helps smile.gif
Hugs and fx to everyone smile.gif
Afm - waiting for AF.... Impatiently lol

me 39, DH 39, one (TTC since November 2012) At least one confirmed chem.Ivf #1 march 2014 - 6 day 6 blasts, two transferred bfn, 4 frosties. Ivf #2 may, cancelled, Ivf #3 July two transferred, 3 frosties... BFP! 15dpo 336 hcg, 17dpo 681 hcg... Scan at 6+4 wks - twins!! Feeling more blessed than words

Hi All, just popping in to say hello and let you know that I saw my regular physician today. Turns out I have an ear infection and possible sinus infection so I am on antibiotics for the next 5 days. DH and I are supposed to DTD tonight but I just took a 800 mg ibuprofen for the pain and can barely stay awake. I'll pop back in when I'm feeling better.

I am getting nowhere with mexico. How do I know if I want mini ivf or ivf? I can not get my re to tell me which one. He said if we want 2 kids to do ivf. I asked what kind of if it was and he said there are a lot of different things people call mini.

I need to vent. I am tired of him saying egg quality. I also noticed that over half of reporting on IVF on that website that ranks clinics says dor. Which is what he calls me. But I look at other clinic and they don't have over half as dor. What I don't understand is if I am dor why am i producing two or three eggs each time? If I said I wanted two more kids why wouldn't you do full IVF?

I requested my medical records. But if we go to Mexico are they going to follow his protocol? I guess I am just questioning my RE? I'm just tired of the vague answers. I am a total type a and need answers.

The mexico people wanted my med records. Which I want them to come to their own conclusion. It seems mexico is going to be complicated and how do I arrange that with my cycle.

And how does seeing a re help if you ovulate naturally? The one egg may be a good egg but the drugs make you produce more than one so the second egg may be bad since my body didn't pick it as the one that month. Kwim?

But they need your medical records. Not to follow your re' protocol but to see what tests were done and to see your records so they can decide what they need to do. My new re just requested my medical records too. He is by no means doing what my last doctor did.
Hugs to you I know it is frustrating. Maybe the re in Mexico after looking over your stuff and having you come in can decide what type of IVF protocol is best for you. Hugs

Hugs @ilovemykiddos - I hope you get some answers soon.

Sorry to hear you are so sick @NaturallyMo - hope the antibiotics help and you feel better real soon

TMI alert: AF update: I was woken up this morning by extremely bad cramps (like double you over pain) and bright red flow. Guess this is day 1?

Staying home today (not scheduled to work today) --hoping to get schoolwork done. The semester is quickly coming to an end. Apparently there is a lot of blowing snow and lots of roads are not cleared yet.
