Tracyamber- how are those little embryos doing?

Chuord- congrats on such a lot of follicles! Fingers crossed they all mature nicely and give you a good crop.

Shelley- how are you doing? I hope thibgs have settled again now and given you some peace

Xerxella- how are you? When is your scan?

Today was trackubg for me. It's my 4th day of stims and I have 15 promising follicles. The largest was 11 and the rest are just behind. It's very exciting watching them grow. My ovaries have started to ache already so I'm not looking forward to that in a week's time! I start cetrotide shots tomorrow and back for another scan on Monday. It's still exciting at the moment!!

Current fertilization report:
26 fertilized. About half will drop off in a couple of days. Probably still more than we will use.

things are much better today, thanks.  had some on/off brownish spotting last evening, and then the tiniest bit of browish spotting this morning.. it looked 'old', and nothing since.  hoping this continues, it gave us all quite the scare!!!   as long as i don't get bright red bleeding or cramps, then all should be fine...

@shelley4 - Sorry to hear about the scary spotting, but I have also heard that it's just the combo that's an issue.  I had cramping with no spotting.  And that progesterone really can be pretty harsh - I found it to be very drying....

@Xerxella - *hugs* on the waiting.

@tracyamber - that's a lot of fertilized eggs!

It's exciting to read along with everyone!

I still don't know how much we're going to end up paying OOP for our IVF - and I hit 15 weeks today!  I asked the clinic when I called about getting some records sent somewhere (and a bunch of other questions), but they said to call my insurance company...

DH(37) + I(36) have been working on collaborative project #1 for 6 years, fighting more battles than I ever imagined. 2/2014 - IVF cycle =  due in late November!

Xerxella - I got 12 last time, they all fertilized and by day 6 I had 6 blasts that were all bb grade... Doc wasn't happy coz I'm not pg, but that aside I thought it was really successful cycle... Mind you I think of dh swimmers like a conquering army - I'm sure they would fertilize anything lol!
Tracy - that's really good! I'm assuming the donor is a good age? So the attrition could be varied... Either way like you say - there should be plenty to be getting on with smile.gif keep us updated... You're going for 5 day transfer?
Oxford - woohoo! The best bit is unlike a clomid month - each egg you get will get a chance, it's such a nice feeling! Lol yep wait till you feel like your ovaries have been substituted with bunches of grapes!
Autumn laughing - wow 15 weeks already! That's great!
Tina - hold that zen, not long to dh mock up now smile.gif
Shell - glad you are feeling more relaxed xx
Hi everyone smile.gif
Afm - trying to relax and enjoy the weekend (except when the hormone monster jumps out of my mouth lol) looking forward to retrieval on Wednesday and feeling lighter!

Quick question, has anyone else done menopur and cetrotide on an antagonist cycle? How long did you have to take cetrotide before trigger?? I know it will depend on when the follicles are ready but I would like to get a rough idea for planning at work. Any thoughts?

Following along and wishing everyone the best of luck on their cycles.

My doctor started me on metmorfin and femara for this cycle. I will just be happy if we can confirm ovulation this cycle. smile.gif luckily I only had 33 small cysts so we were able to try this time. I am hopeful but also understanding that this may be a longer journey. Husband and I are going to start investing some of our savings in case we have to go to ivf eventually. On a brighter note I have been sensing a little boy around me again which I haven't sensed since I got pregnant and than miscarried. I hope that it's a good sign. smile.gif

Alivewithyou- best of luck with it, I hope that little boy is a good sign! I take metformin too, it's not too bad. Make sure you take half dose for the first week and build it up. If you can avoid sugar and simple carbs for the first few weeks it will help avoid an upset stomach. After the first few weeks it's fine. I really hope it helps :-)

Thanks for the tip.. So far I am starting on 250 mg and I've gotten a little sick but I also just got my gallbladder out so it could be from either. Not too bad though.. I did notice when I ate protein and veggies I didn't get sick. I will push through it though it's totally worth it if it helps my cysts go away. smile.gif

I never could handle metformin, even at the lowest dose - it gave me a permanent headache! Hopefully it is kinder to you. And yeah, definitely build up slowly. Femara and metformin are a great starting point for people with PCOS. I hope it works well for you!

Adiejan - so far it's been okay but I'm definitely nervous cause I've heard a lot of bad stories about it. Logan is a cool town I almost went up there for college. smile.gif I am using a clinic in sandy and it will be mostly out of pocket but they do try to work with insurance to cover what they can.

I hope your next cycle goes well!

Oxford - when I've been on cetritide I normally take the last shot the morning of the trigger - I think the doc says it stays in your system 48 hrs? The synarel nasal spray lasts 6 days so I stopped that earlier.
Kewpie - so exciting, you've really been quiet this month - hope you're doing well with it all, any idea on how many this time?
Tracy - update on the fertilization?
Tf2b - still thinking of you and hoping!
Xerxella - I'm staying quiet but sending you positive everything.
Shell - scan is soon right?
Adie - of course we would stay and support you smile.gif keep focussing on the end goal... So excited you're back in the game.
Hi everyone!
Mo - when's your scan? Must be soon now
Afm - final blood check this morning, has anyone else felt so full that everything is uncomfortable and a a little queasy? Should trigger tonight and get started... My re writes all over my limbs the number of eggs he gets... So dh plans on writing him a message on my thigh... Medical humour!

I'm taking menopur and ganirelix (which is interchangeable with cetrotide) and on an antagonist protocol (hence the ganirelix) :wink  My march cycle, I was on it for 4 days, this cycle I was on it for 2.  That said, I'm also on follistim, so that may make a difference.

thanks everyone.. no more spotting since the tiniest bit yesterday morning.  most of it was friday afternoon/evening, started pinkish, quickly turned brown and less and less.  really hoping it's just the progesterone suppositories.  ultrasound has been moved up to this wednesday.  i'll be 6w6d by then, hoping to be able to see a heart beat, but it may be a bit early yet.

@Kewpie80 glad to hear you are getting close! So you're a week behind me. A 2 day transfer makes the wait so long! How many follies are you looking at?

@tracyamber what's the update lady? Are you feeling better now that you're onto progesterone? Your DH sounds adorable. I like to think I'm married to one of the last good guys too. We are so lucky to have such great partners to go through this with.

@Alivewithyou it sounds like you are off to a good start. Femara (letrazole) has so many benefits you don't get from clomid. That combined with metformin should really help! Are you at the start of this cycle now?

@chuord good luck Wednesday! I'm so hopeful for you this cycle! I hope you start feeling lighter soon. Do you do PIO or suppositories?

AFM- Still waiting. Today should have been transfer day. So, 5dpo.

Kewpie - lol oh yeah we are cycle buddies, that sounds like a really good potential retrieval - fx most of them are good to go!
Thanks for letting me know you're having that side effect - I was starting to worry a little. Sorry you've had a rough go this month - I think maybe the closer together cycles are the harder it is psychologically, it has been for me.
Good luck for Tuesday!

@chuord triggering tonight?????? Hooray getting closer. How exciting! Will you be transferring a embryo or blast? Just curious
@toothfairy2be you are on the wait huh? What have you been doing to keep busy and not analyze every symptom? I will know the final repot on the embryos on tuesday. Last we heard 29 were fertilized.
@Alivewithyoubogland the women here are being helpful and know the medications you are on and their symptoms.
@Kewpie80yay for Tuesday's retrieval! Will you be transferring a 3 day embryo or a blast? Why have you been down in the dumps?? Hugs to you
@adiejan getting off the bc pills is a big step!!! How have you been feeling? Better now that things a moving?
@tinytina hello ! Hope all is well with you!

@Xerxella missing you. What's up? How are you staying occupied?

Nothing new. Glad I am off of the lupron and my blood pressure did go down but still really high. Tomorrow I will walk to the store and take another test and hopefully it will be down even more. The progesterone shots are okay. Got a sore bum. Tonight I iced it beforehand. Our last clinic would allow the estradiol and progesterone to be put in one syringe on those two days a week but my current clinic says no so tomorrow I get two shoot s in the bum. Eek! Just getting ready for wednesday.!i will be in bed for two days so I might be around if anyone wants to chat smile.gif.

Tracy - so exciting it's getting so close!
Afm - cycle is cancelled, my estrogen last month was 9,500 today was 18,183 given I maybe have 4 eggs more it's quite high. He said given how I reacted last time he's not comfortable continuing this cycle - I agree with him, I was feeling really stressed this arvo after I found out the level. The thought of canceling was a little sad for about half an hour and now I'm good with it and ready to move on next time.

I've been lurking in this thread although I did post a few weeks/months ago.

I just wanted to say a big congratulations to shelley and mo! :) :joy

I have some clomid questions so I'm going to recap my story really quickly, and hope some of you have some wisdom to share.

My son was born in August 2012, it took 18 cycles to conceive him and one cycle of 50 mg of clomid days 3-7 of my cycle. The OB I had told me clomid wouldn't work and had sent me to a fertility clinic the month we conceived. (She gave me the clomid even though it "wouldn't work.")

I just went to a new OB (different than the first and different than the one I used for prenatal care). My son is 22 months old and we're still nursing, but I've had my period back for maybe six cycles. We confirmed with his pediatrician who is a LC that it would be okay to take clomid while nursing, although the OB was sort of skeptical/disinterested. I was really not a fan of her. She brought up my weight while doing my pelvic exam. She also said she'd want to use more Clomid because of my weight, which seemed like a BS statement to me. When I asked her the difference between using clomid CD 3-7 and 5-9, she just said she didn't know.

In the end, she gave me 5 packs of 50 mg clomid. Her instructions were kind of vague, but I think she told me to do 50 mg this month, and then 100 per month for two months, then to go to a RE.

So right now I'm in the middle of this first clomid cycle for this round of TTC, I took 50 mg days 5-9. I'm starting to get darker OPKs and feeling like I'm ovulating, but I have always had strong O symptoms and reasonably regular (if slightly long) cycles and didn't conceive until clomid.

My questions are:

1. Has anyone heard anything about the correlation between weight and dose of clomid? I do have PCOS and I realize that often means anovulation, but why else would that matter? It seems like a dangerous assumption to make.

2. What IS the difference between using clomid CD 3-7 and CD 5-9? If one worked for me before, would the other not work this time?

3. If you were me and didn't conceive this cycle, would you go up to 100 mg next month without any monitoring, or keep trying on the 50?

Thanks to anyone who can share some experience with these things. I had such a support system here built up around conceiving my son, it's weird to feel a little alien on these boards now.

Oh and I should just be under waiting to O and not IVF waiting to O. Thanks!

Hello everyone and good morning!

Hi @Xerxella

Good luck at your scan today @oxford

Excellent numbers @tracyamber. Sorry to hear about the sore bum. I am not looking forward to that part. Hope your blood pressure continues to go down.

Hope you are continuing to feel better @shelley4. Fingers crossed

Glad you are moving along so nicely @Autumnlaughing

Yes, my husband's test is bright and early Thursday morning. We are spending Wednesday night in a hotel. Lots to do this week. Working on a massive research paper (10 page) on ADHD in the classroom due Friday!

@chuord- hope you are enjoying your weekend. Sorry to hear you are cancelling this cycle. I cannot imagine what you are feeling and thinking dear.

Hugs and glad you can continue this cycle @Alivewithyou

Sorry to hear about the effects of metformin @monkeyscience

Great numbers @Kewpie80- best of luck on your retrieval tomorrow. Sorry to hear about you not feeling well physically and mentally. Even if you aren't up to posting much we are still all pulling for you dear.

Thanks for the reassurance that its not just me @adiejan. It definitely seems busy in here right now- its exciting. I cannot imagine how exciting but nervous you are.

Best of luck with the transfer dear @toothfairy2be

Adie- good to hear you are back trying again. We are all here for you.

Chuord- sorry to hear your cycle has cancelled, although with such a high number it sure sounds like the right thing to do. Is the risk ohss? Chill out, drink cocktails and enjoy lots of contraband! Will the follicles just go down after you have ovulated naturally?

Kewpie- did your trigger go smoothly? Are you all set for retrieval? I hope you get a good crop.

Boots- I have pcos and I took clomid for 4 months. On when to take it day 3 or day 5, I'm not sure enough is known. You read some places that day3 gives higher quantity and day5 start gives higher quality, but I'm not too sure. It seems to be down to individual doctor choice and I think either will be fine. I'm concerned that they are not tracking your responses with the ultrasound. Can you get them to monitor you? I definitely would not increase the dosage without knowing your response on a lower dose. I also took 50mg and I produced two follicles which both ovulated so clomid seemed to work on me, although I still didn't get pregnant. Watch out for the hormone mood swings. "Clomid rage" does exist! I wasn't as bad as that, but I was so irritable with poor darling husband and felt utterly depressed and hopeless too! I hope it doesn't happen for you but at least you will recognise the cause if you feel grumpy!!
Good luck. Finally, forgive me if this is uninvited, if you do choose to lose a few pounds that has shown to be astonishingly effective for women with pcos it seems to kick start and rebalance the hormones naturally even just a couple of pounds. I have my fingers crossed for you that you find the right re to give you some good care and support. And the clomid works- there are a lot of clomid babies out there!!

Afm today's scan showed them all progressing, still about 15 follicles. There is one much bigger than the rest at 18, with most around 14, so the nurse said they may sacrifice the big one and let it over ripen in order to get the majority of them to mature. Egg collection will be Friday or Monday.

@tracyamber the Dr is leaning toward blast transfer but hasn't fully decided yet.I think I've been down cause my embryos last cycle were rather poor quality and it maKes me nervous for this cycle. My first 2 ivfs, I had near perfect quality. I guess 3 years makes a big difference.

He said given how I reacted last time he's not comfortable continuing this cycle - I agree with him, I was feeling really stressed this arvo after I found out the level. The thought of canceling was a little sad for about half an hour and now I'm good with it and ready to move on next time.
I am sending you big hugs. It's hard to have a cancelled cycle but you and your doctor know best. Why would your estrogen be so high? When can you start again?

Hugs ((((())))))

Kewpie - Good luck at retrieval tomorrow! It's sounds like everything is lining up well for you.

Chuord - I can't believe you got cancelled. I'm angrier than you are! (But I've never had high estrogen, so what do I know?) Why don't they do a lupron trigger and a freeze all cycle? That would seem to be a way to salvage the cycle. Will you/ can you still try on your own this month?

Oxford - It sounds like everything is chugging along nicely! You never know. I've had the lead slow down a lot and the others catch up. Good luck!!!

Tinytina - Good luck on Thursday!!! I'm excited for you guys moving forward.

Boots - My understanding is that if you ovulate on one dose of clomid, there is no benefit in increasing the dose. So, if you track your cycle and you ovulate, I don't think there's any benefit in increasing the dose. I think that's the standard of care. (I would definitely recommend getting a new doc...). As far as 3-7 or 5-9, I don't think there's any difference. The only thing clomid can help you do is ovulate. Once that's accomplished, more clomid only hurts you (your lining, your cervical mucous, etc). Good luck to you!

Tracy - Did you get your 3 day report today? I'm super excited for you.

Tf2b - When will you test?

Shelley - Does the doc have good u/s equipment? Will it be a transvaginal u/s? If yes to both of those, you should be able to see a heartbeat. I'm excited for you!!!

Adiejan - I'm glad you're starting soon. And ending BCP!!

Alivewithyou - I hear good things about Femera! Good luck!!!

wave.gif to everyone else!!!! I'm sorry if I missed anyone. Thinking of you all.
