- I'm so sorry for your bad news. (And bursting my good news bubble is not anything you need to worry about - I'm just sad it didn't keep going for your sake!) I'm glad your dh is taking things well, and that you're able to be open with each other. I hope you enjoy your break! As far as IUI vs IVF, I'd definitely give IUI a shot if you don't have any known fertility issues yourself. Way cheaper and less invasive, and much easier meds, too. Also, someone mentioned to IVF so you can have bio siblings for your child. I believe (based on reading about others' experiences), that at least some sperm banks offer to let you buy/reserve additional "samples" from your donor for just that reason. I don't know if this will help at all, but my grandfather was a quadriplegic from age 19 until he died a few years ago (at age 77 - waaaay after he was supposed to have "expired"). He and my grandma were able to have one miracle baby (my dad). My grandma also had 2 miscarriages. They adopted 5 other children over a span of about 15 years (I think). They were/are wonderful parents.
- Wow, what a tough blow! I don't think I've heard of 0 fertilization with normal-seeming eggs/sperm before. I hope the ICSI helps. That is great that you'll get another try for free, though!
It is so your turn to get off this merry go round. Did you end up having your official beta, or did you just skip it?
I'm going to buck the trend and say there's just one in there. My 12 DPO beta was 167, with a 28-hour doubling time, so it would have been well past what yours was, and I just had one inside. But you did transfer two, so who knows! From all that I've looked at with betas, it seems like they are very poor at predictors of whether you have one or two in there, even if you take doubling time into consideration. My high betas do seem to be a possible explanation for my horrendous morning/all day sickness, though! (Which has blessedly, finally disappeared in the past couple of weeks.)
I'm sure I've missed a bunch more people, but dh is getting whiny, so I have to go. I'm reading along, and cheering you all on, just not posting much from my phone.
