Had my first (ever) beta test this morning.. and spent ALL DAY waiting for the results (no, really - I had to call the on call service, the Dr. was super apologetic and said she thought she'd already called me).  But - it's positive! 161!   DH and I are kind of in shock - after 6 years, "trying to get pregnant" is what we do - actually getting pregnant is something that *other* people do!

I can't actually wrap my head around the idea that it finally actually worked - all I can think is "well, this is good, we've never gotten this far before!  We'll see what the next test brings..."

I spent awhile researching numbers online this morning - one article I found noted that it's real title should be "All About the Beta hCG: Values, Facts, FAQs, and Other Information That Will Not Help Much and Will Probably Make You Crazy".

so.. I hope my beta luck rubs off on you, ilovemykiddos.

Chuord - I've found that thought about my baby's spirit to be pretty comforting - maybe this kid (and it's siblings??) just really needed to have really strong roots in science.  Also, sorry for not mentioning the constipation.. though I think I made mine worse by eating a HUGE cheeseburger that night (I hardly ever eat red meat, but I *really* wanted it!), and I tend that way, too.  Lots of water, dates, prunes, making sure to keep up my magnesium supplements all helped, I think...

Ok.. DH is back, and we need to see about lunch.. we were both too nervous to do anything before (also, he's sick :(  )

DH(38) + I(37) have been working on collaborative project #1 for 6 years, fighting more battles than I ever imagined. 2/2014 - IVF cycle =  due in mid November!

Hi everyone, feeling the need for a little TTC sisterhood. I do consider myself fertility challenged even though we were very lucky to have a sweet baby boy after 17 months of TTC and just one round of clomid. I have a lot of feelings about TTC #2, mostly of not trusting my body and worrying that things might be worse this time instead of better. I've definitely been overrun by pregnancy announcements lately and even though we haven't officially started trying, I'm feeling a little down. Just reading this thread and the hope everyone here has has lifted my spirits.

I have PCOS and Hashimotos (diagnosed post-partum). I'm also very IR and have a strong family history of diabetes. I just got bloodwork done Friday and have been feeling off. I'm scared to hear that my blood sugars are up the month I was going to start TTC. I'm also still nursing my 19 month old son and not really ready to wean for clomid. I just scheduled my first acupuncture treatment for Tuesday!

My username was formerly bootsvalentine and I was active here from about 2010-2012 in the TTC #1 in our 30s and a few other threads. My son was born in August 2012. Hi Monkeyscience and Tear!

Anyway, we're waiting to O!

xoxo

I think I'll join in. I certainly lurk enough and try to keep up with everyone's stories.

I've had 3 miscarriages in the past year. I have an appt with a RE this month. Hopefully he'll have some advice. My fear is he'll say I'm old and to expect more losses before anything else.

ilovemykiddos: I'm sorry you're in beta hell as we speak. I've been there and know how stressful it is. Fingers crossed for you.

Hey all, just remember to bold only what category you should be put in so it is easy for naturallymo to update the first page of the thread! I think using the @ on the HTML display when you are addressing someone specific . It is also helpful to use this because this thread moves so fast the person will get an email saying that they were mentioned. Just an FYI!

Tracy - I already had a solid regime (that worked for me) herbal fibre, greens etc... This has just been beyond... I'm trying one of those bowel prep formulas this morning - I can't face transfer (tomorrow) without 'action'
Now pineapple core - no I haven't... What does it do again? I'll get one today smile.gif after this stuff lol

me 40, DH 40, one (TTC since November 2012) At least one confirmed chem.Ivf #1 march 2014 - 6 day 6 blasts, bfn, 4 frosties. Ivf #2 may, cancelled, Ivf #3 July two transferred, 3 frosties... BFP! Scan at 6+4 wks - twins!! Feeling more blessed than words!

@chuord hugs to you. How frustrating. Sennacot worked really well for me after my c section. I hate being constipated. Poor you. Pineapple core I think is a old wives tale in the IVF realm. It is suppose to help with implantation because it a bromeliad and the core has higher doses. I use it every time even though the last 3 Implantations was not a success but my first was so..... Look it up. It can't hurt anyway. Are you doing any acupuncture before or after your transfer?

Today my DH and I emptied out the guest room. I told him I wanted to remove every single of piece of junk in that room so that we can clear the energy and put out in the universe what we want: a room that's now a nursery for a baby. I know it sounds a little crazy but I said if we want it bad enough, let's make the moves so that we are ready when it happens. Right now the only thing in there is a tv, his computer and my DS's trampoline. I am getting ready because I know this kid is going to pop up soon and say "I'm here!".

Got another positive OPK today. Weird. I also realized that I only have two ovulation tests in the bathroom and two early pregnancy tests. Wow.

I think this is a great idea Mo! That reminds me...I need to have another one of those talks with my uterus too. Apparently it's forgotten how to be nurturing and welcoming.

@chuord - How are you feeling?

@adiejan - Hope you are doing okay.  I'm glad that you have good IRL support.  I wonder if the cytotec post D&C is just to catch anything they may have missed?  I had retained products after my last D&C, and it was awful.

@toothfairy2be - I'm sad and thrilled to (still) have your company, chick.  Yep, we've been here a looooooonnnnnggg while.  This month marks five years since I feel pregnant for the first time.  I'd love to say that 2014 will be the last year for me, but I don't have a lot of confidence in that idea.  Every year, I've though it would be "my year", but it hasn't come around yet.  Not that I mean to be negative!  :irked  Sorry about having another lap.  My doc said that I would have to have another one to clear out endo too, although I've had a much longer reprieve than two years.  The improvement in your pain will be worth it for sure.

@monkeyscience - I've missed you.  Thanks for checking on us.  You should start a grads thread so WE can stalk.  Even if it is only you.  You're definitely stalk-worthy :heartbeat

@ilovemykiddos - I remember your username; maybe from the loss boards?  Sorry about the beta hell.  I'm with @Xerxella - I hated being told it was all okay, when I knew in my gut that it wasn't.

@iixivboots - I also remember your (old) username.  Welcome back.

@NaturallyMo - you have a lot of ... energy!  Jeepers.

AFM:  Well, I went to my GP to see about ordering my tests, and also about a rash that I have had on my face for quite a while.  She took one look, and went straight to Lupus.  Now, I've been tested for Lupus a heck of a lot of times already as part of the recurrent loss panels.  Negative, but I did have one really weak positive that the doctors basically disregard because it was so borderline.  Anyway, apparently the test can be negative between flares, and the fact that I have the rash right now might make it show a positive if I do have it.

It would make a lot of sense.  I've been feeling fatigued to the point of exhaustion, and have been having joint pain.  To the point that I've been considering seeing chronic fatigue specialist for evaluation. But these symptoms can also be related to Lupus.  So now my mind is running overtime.

@Milk8shake that I sintering about the results between flares. I did not know this and have been tested for lupus with a negative result but it was when I had no symptoms and the doctor was convince I had it. I have since been researching other Autoimmune diseases. Been driving me crazy
Sorry about your joint pain, no fun.

Thanks for the congrats :)  I don't feel like I'm ready to move to grad yet... I'm giving myself until the test Tuesday, I think?   I also haven't POAS at ALL this cycle.  No OPK, no HPT.. weird.

@NaturallyMo - good job with the BD!!! And the cleaning.

@Milk8shake - I don't know if much can be done for Lupus, but I hope you find a helpful answer soon!  I tend to have lots of fatigue - it's not as bad now that I have my (bizillion) allergies under some control, but it really sucks.  (OKOK, it's been bad the last few weeks, but that's the IVF cycle..)

@rosie2727 - if you type @ and then start typing a username (no space between!), it'll automatically link.  :)

@iixivboots - welcome!!!  We probably missed each other before - I think I was here 2008-2010ish?  It's good to hear from people who get it - my body seems to rarely behave as I wish it would, but somehow I'd been convinced that this was the one thing it would do fine.. now... well, we'll see..

My parents are stopping by for dinner tomorrow (a rare event) I've told them kind of a lot about this process because I had to ask Mom some questions about anesthesia... so, I guess I'm telling them!   Also, I need to go on a frantic cleaning spree - I haven't been good about that with the fatigue, so it's in need!

(Luck to everyone)

Unrelated note: I made the BEST pico de gallo tonight for dinner. DH loves my 7 layer dip made with vegetarian beans.

AFM: Its a midnight and DH and I just finished two more episodes of House of Cards. We are waiting for DS to go to sleep so that we can *get back to work* :wink DS actually slept through the night in his bed last night but we were both too exhausted for much of anything. Hopefully tonight we can get back to wrk.

Now, someone explain to me how this O thing works. Even though I've gotten positive test, I still may not have an egg release until a day or two later? Is that right? I guess I'm trying to figure out much longer we need to keep going every other night.

@naturallymo you made me laugh so hard ! Aren't all beans vegetarian????? My dh says sometimes they are not if you add meat so I guess he got it but it sounded like a play on words;) also, you started your next sentence" dh and I just finished two more episodes"... A and I thought you were going to say something else. Ha and I was bracing myself like" oh dear! How can they do it that many times" anyway, thought I'd share.

@tracyamber ... thanks!  i'm just really hoping it all works out for my cousin in the end.... i'm in awe of how hard she's already tried to TTC, and still, she hasn't given up hope yet.  that's amazing!  apparently her doc says there is a 65% chance the embryo could implant, so we may have to try more than one cycle.   this is all very new to me, so i'm doing my best to learn everything i can!

Since we have decided that we are going with IVF and hopefully we will be starting our first cycle either the end of March or in April, I can be moved to IVF/IUI/Other Treatments

Hope it works out @shelley4. You are doing a great thing for this couple.

So excited for you, @Autumnlaughing.

@Chuord, I love your image of the baby’s spirit. It is really reassuring to think of it in that way.

Hi @iixivboots! I know what you mean of feeling like everyone else is pregnant and how difficult that can be. Hope your bloodwork is good, Betsy.

I am sorry @ilovemykiddos –that must be so hard.

Hugs @Rosie2727! Hope your appointment goes well.

Hope your transfer tomorrow goes well @chuord.

@NaturallyMo, spring cleaning has come early to your house. What a great idea.

I definitely need to clean out the spare bedroom in our apartment.

@Milk8shake- sorry to hear about your diagnosis of Lupus. Hope they can find some treatment for you dear.

@tracyamber, you should be excited!

I have so much to learn, and i'll be grateful for all you guys have to share.  i feel that my cousin (and you guys!!) have already been through most of the hard work, and i'm just starting out very late in the game.  i can't even begin to imagine the frustration and the heartbreak that you all have experienced, and i wish you all success. if i am able to help my cousin, i will be so happy to play a small part in her long journey.

i want you all to know that if any of you have an issue with me being on this thread, just say the word.  i don't want to step on anyone's toes, or accidentally upset anyone.
