Thanks SO much everyone for your congratulations, good thoughts, and support. I love that a group of women who have struggled with infertility can still understand the shock and stress of finding out about multiples.

@chuord , you are so right that I am grateful to not have think about fertility treatments ever again, knock on wood. A month ago that was causing me so much stress and how quickly life has changed.

Yay for great betas, @alivewithyou !

@Xerxella , I like your mantra, I will join you. That next ultrasound can't come soon enough. When is your next one?

Welcome, @radiowave .

As far as betas and twins, my first draws were not super high. But by the third one, it had started way more than doubling. I've had friends with high beta numbers for singletons. So who knows what the future holds for @tracyamber !?

Xerxella - glad to hear!!!! Let us know how u/s goes - fx for you still xxx
Radio - the way I know of is to do ivf with an ICSI (where they pick good sperm and individually insert into each egg) sometimes the reason for ivf is not the lady. Xerxella - is there a gentler option for low sperm motility? Radio - Xerxella is our resident knowledge bank
Alive - congrats!! Now time to just relax and be pg until the scan

Hello everyone,

Still working away on my paper- almost done though.
Looking forward to a more relaxing weekend. It is suppose to be nice all weekend- sunny and warm.

Hi @tracyamber

Hi @adiejan - I am doing my Master's in Curriculum Design (Education). Dentist wasn't bad. Paper is almost done.

Hi @radiowave , like I told you on TTC thread, I am doing IUI with no hormones (so as close to a natural cycle as possible). My clinic will do 6 months without any further interventions. Our clinic has 14% success with IUI with partner sperm and 20% with donor sperm. Prior to our last test we were planning on doing IVF with ICSI.

Glad you are doing so well @chuord

Glad your BETA numbers are so great @alivewithyou

I love your mantra @Xerxella , very reassuring to hear

Hugs @iixivboots , hope you are staying relaxed dear

Hi everyone else! Enjoy your weekend!

Supplements/nutrition for low sperm motility

Hi,
Does anyone know of foods and/or supplements that help with low sperm motility? We have an appointment with the dr a week from today to discuss treatment, but I want to get started right away, and the doc does not seem likely to suggest alternative/natural/complementary treatments. Thanks! Have a great weekend!

Radio- there are herbal supplements for men. I think it's Fertilaid for men? They have a countboost but you prob only need the regular one. Also Proxeed twice a day but that's pricey. IUI will help the motility issue anyway by bypassing the cervix.
A low dose of clomid or letrazole can also improve egg quality and corpus luteum quality to give you the best chance at pregnancy. Infertility treatments don't come cheap, that's why even if you ovulate on your own they try and increase your chances when you're paying for interventions. Best of luck!

@iixivboots thanks for the mention. @radiowave s supplements were what helped my husband go from no sperm to a few motile sperm given all his hormonal issues. We psed Fertilaid, Countboost, and Motility boost for 2 months before we saw a change. http://m.fairhavenhealth.com/male-fertility.html Sperms take awhile to mature so 3 months is the low end of making a difference for men's sperm in motility and count. We used for 6 months until we had enough frozen for ivf with icsi (necessary because we were getting 25 sperm a freezing not tens of thousands most men would expect.) the supplements smell pretty funky, but my DH took one for the team while taking them. Six months after he stopped taking the supplements when he gave a fresh "sample" at our ivf, there were no sperm again so I know they did their job.

Wink Fertility punning

I thought you guys might appreciate this. I was telling my good friend this afternoon about the IUI process, and how they get the best of the sperm to use, kind of like "la creme de la creme" and then we both said at the same time, or "la creme de la cum!"

Boots - we were really frustrated by how little it seemed that we could do about our motility issues. The clinic didn't seem interested in treating it at all. DH tried some supplements & some "lifestyle changes" (smoking, mostly) which got us up slightly from 0. We did ivf w. icsi, and I can't bring myself to ask how good that sample was - I'm pregnant now, and we have 6 frozen blasts, so I guess the answer is "good enough"?

Aimee - that is pretty funny

Trevor (my husband) went on vitamin C (1000 mg daily) Vitmin E - He ate lots of sunflower seeds and ate 1 TBL of wheat germ per day. Selenium - He ate tuna every day for lunch for that one. He took 1 capsule of vit B12 plus 1 multivitamin and then he took 25 mg of clomid to boost his testosterone. He did this for about 6 months before our second, third and forth cycles and it did improve the motility and morphology and numbers. He had problems with all 3, however, not just motility.

Adie - that's very strange! Have they gone down now? Nothing too exciting here, bd season and getting ready to travel to Darwin with dh on Saturday (4hr flight) for a week - the food is delicious up there and the people so multicultural and friendly we love it.
Kewpie - wow that's so close too!! Time is flying... Any symptoms that are making you feel more settled with it?

I wish I could go to Darwin! My in laws have been and raved about it! Please eat some yummy food for me okay? I love diversity too and I live in a place where I "am" the diversity lol. Today I braided my hair, actually it took 3 days and people don't know what to think. In California where I am from no one bats an eye. Darwin makes me think of when we lived in Costa Rica and would travel to the other side of the country for yummy food, diversity and a little twist on the usual.

Tracy - I totally get it! I grew up in a small country town in Tasmania, where we were the freaks cos my parents are English! (Ironic since 1/4 of the town was Dutch!) lucky we travelled a lot and my parents have always been accepting of race/religion etc. When dh comes home with me he feels like the special exhibit at the fair
I'm glad your parents liked Darwin, I wasn't keen to go but fell in love with it - only 100k population (permanent) but so many people are 3 or 4 different racial blends it's great, and the food is amazing lol... I will eat plenty for you
Kewpie - that's hard, I know under 'normal' circumstances feeling great would be awesome... Although I'm sure you're hanging out for confirmation I'm sure there is no problem - this feels like a take home for you xxx
Boots - remember to breath!!!

Hello everyone,
I am still around but I apologize for being away for a couple days. I take Sunday's as a day off and yesterday just ended up being a disaster. Our friend came over last night and helped put the a/c in the bedroom window. Trying to sleep last night was much easier. Me and hubby have been fighting a bit.
@chuord , hoping to choose a donor this week, so that is exciting. Enjoy your trip. It sounds so nice.
@tracyamber , I love living in a multicultural city.
@adiejan , my allergies have been bad the last couple days- lots of hives and swelling.

Hi @toothfairy2be
@kewpie80 - glad to hear what worked for your husband. Cannot wait for your scan in a week dear.

Hugs @iixivboots , good luck hun. Waiting is always the worse.
