He was in the shower, we had minimal time to do this and I didn't want to thwart it bickering about eggwhite in my hoo-ha. So there you have it. I did have to come clean to the midwife who did a pap for me today though. I politely said listen I've been trying to get pregnant forever and you should know I O'd yesterday, we've had sex twice in the last 24 hrs and there may be some errant eggwhite up there. Good Luck.
And as it turns out the barely silver lining with having gone through the HSG, saline sono, multiple polyp surgeries, dilating stick and 3 IUIs in the past 11 mths is.....that a pap smear now feels like getting licked by kittens. My midwife said in 35 yrs of doing this, she'd never seen anyone relax her pelvic muscles so well during an annual. Oh the talents we gather in this process.

Also, re: BDing being hard. We had a big blowout last week about sex. It seems to effect us all. I'm better at working at it some tiimes than others. I try to help it when I can because it just gets worse if I don't and I really don't know how long this will go on. Lately, the relationship felt a little risked. We decided to work on increasing intimacy sans sex since we don't have to be pressured 1/mth to be intimate. It's helping. This month's bd was much more normal feeling. FWIW

So um, how exactly did you get the eggwhite up there??

Inquiring minds want to know, eh? Well, erm, I didn't have any basting type utensil, so I laid down on the bathroom floor in my freakin negligee (trying to spice up the bd, yk?) and scooped it out with my fingers, held it over the right place and kind of shimmied it in with my thumb. Foreplay at its finest.
At a certain point I decided I had enough and I tossed the rest and got meself to the bed as fast as possible. I think the EW is so much like reg. cm or pre-seed that DH never questioned it. IF this works, I am going back to the Farmer's Market to personally thank the sweet Amish woman who sold me the eggs. The things we do...

Oh my, dh didn't even noticed. I laughed so hard when I read this. I know how you feel when one gets desperate. I hope this works for you and then you get sell amish eggs on the net.

You know you gave me inspiration. We bought Maca Man from GNC. (it helps with libido and stamina) He has to take it 6 hrs before he goes to bed. When I am near ovulation time he totally freaks out and has anxiety performance. We end up alot of times not bding at all.

His mind is so powerfull that he can't perform even if he had viagra around. So I am thinking I will give it to him(he takes so many vitamins he has no clue what I am giving him) while he doesn't even know and see if it kicks in. hmmm I am laughing at the thought right now. He would be so mad at me for thinking this.

Me 39 Dh 44 IVF #1 Failed--only 3 eggs retrieved out of 9 follicles. ET:1-4cell severe fragmentation. Planning for next cycle. VERY DEVASTATED

well, u/s is kinda inconclusive. Had a follicle on the right that was 29mm- he isn't sure if it is a functional follicle or non-functional cyst. So, I have to go back on Monday for a repeat u/s. There were a few follicles on the left but weren't "impressive".

So, going to BD and assume that cyst is just a really big follicle and it will all be fine!! No one is going to "rain on my parade"!! (except me that is)

Way to keep a positive attitude! Hope that is a big fat follicle in there! Good luck.

Hilarious. Be sure to inform the sweet Amish woman just exactly the mission her eggs were sent on.

I have several pregnant friends, and I find that if I bring up my treatments, etc. in a matter-of-fact way they also respond matter-of-factly, so I don't have to pretend like it's not part of my life and I don't have to feel pitied. But they aren't the ones I go to for emotional support, either. They're wonderful and sensitive, which I appreciate, but they can't agonize with me the way some other friends can.

crystal-mommy, I hope that's a follicle and not a cyst!!

My update: I went to see the RE this morning to talk about "other options." I thought we were going to talk about injectibles and IVF, and we did, a bit, but apparently she doctor wants to do a laparoscopy / hysteroscopy to make sure that there's no scar tissue, etc, and also to correct my uterus shape. She says that the chances of there being anything are about 10% so it's optional right now, but she recommends it. This is also apparently required before IVF, if we wanted to go that route, for reasons that took 20 minutes to explain to us. In addition to needing time off work for the surgery (day of plus a few more days.. it's outpatient, but requires general anesthesia and painkillers) I'd also have to stop treatment and avoid pregnancy for several months afterwards, to allow the uterus to heal after being snipped.

On the one hand, if we do the lap/hysteroscopy right away and we find something, that could increase the chances of what we're doing working. But if we don't find anything, it could set us back several months. Given this information, and looking at the success rate of what we're currently doing, we're probably going to give what we're doing a total of six tries. We'll know by this time next week if try #4 succeeded, and if not, two more tries. Then... we'll have to make a decision. But according to the doctor, 6 tries is plenty, and we're not wasting our time yet.

As we were discussing this, I felt slightly chastised when dh told me to stop pouting, but I think I was justified!! I feel totally wrung out emotionally, but I think I'm okay.

Sometimes going to the RE can be so draining. Reading your post made me tired on your behalf. Sounds like you have a nice plan worked out. Hoping that #4 was successful for you! :

Crystal-mommy-for every mature egg, the estrodial should be 200 per mature egg. Did he do any blood work when you saw him? I would think your estrodial would show if its an follicle or cyct, but thats just my opinion. Good luck

OK, well here I am on CD 26, and I couldn't help but POAS this morning.....BFP!!! However, I am nervous as I took my trigger shot two weeks ago, and I'm not sure whether or not its a false positive. I've been feeling the nausea, cramping, fatigue, STARVING, but no soreness in bbs or any spotting at all. Should I get my blood test tomorrow, or wait til AF is actually due, which would be Tuesday? I want to be happy, just so many concerns at the moment...HELP!!!

Hi everybody,
I'm new here, but have been reading posts for a while now. DH and I have been ttc for 15 months now and are currently doing our first IUI cycle with a diagnosis of unexplained infertility. Our RE says my DH has "he-man" sperm which, of course, makes me feel as though there must be something wrong with me since he could pretty much populate the earth based on his numbers.

Anyway, this is the first month of treatment for us. I was on 100mg Clomid and an Ovidrel trigger shot. I had an ultrasound on day 12 which showed 6 follicles of decent size. I'm hoping the amount of follicles combined with DH's he-man sperm gives us good results! I had the IUIs on Thursday and Friday and am now in the 2ww. I am not enjoying the waiting at all and I'm only a couple days in! How do you stay sane during the 2ww?

Do you do anything differently after your IUIs in terms of exercise, etc? I have a horse and ride 5 - 6 days/week generally but am rethinking that right now even though the nurse at the RE's office said it was ok. I got on today and just walked. When I tried to do anything more than a walk, my lower abdomen started hurting so I decided to abandon the ride.

Welcome Daisy. It sounds like you got the best experience from Clomid you could hope for. GL! I am v. conservative in the 2ww re: exercise (esp. during ART) and would not do anything more than walking with the horse.
I hope it works, first ART try. GL!

Unfortunately you can't always tell, not to rain on anyone's parade. Typically yes, 200-300 for estradiol per mature egg, but my sister who was doing ivf had an estradiol of 700. There were 2 eggs (she's a poor responder) but they did an egg retrieval anyway because the other cycles there was one or none. Anyway, the estradiol got their hopes up, but they were empty follicles, no eggs.

Thanks poetgirl. I think you're right about the riding. Just walks for now. I do think I got great results from the Clomid. It actually makes me feel ok about what I went through while taking it. I was a raving lunatic - so irritable and depressed - it was awful. After the ultrasound, I decided the few days of nuttyness was worth it. Now I just have to try to relax until Nov. 7 when I go for the blood test.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, Lola! Sounds like this may be a very good month for you!

Thank you all for your positiveness (is that a word???) I am going to get my blood drawn tomorrow at lunch, and hopefully hear something by Tuesday morning. I took another HPT this afternoon, a cheapie one, which came back BFN. But, I am holding out hope that the Clearblue is a better and more accurate test, which is the one that gave me the BFP. Anyhoo....I'll let you all know when I hear something definite.....:

Is there anything that makes it better? This might sound horrible but I don't tell DH that it hurts or else he would refuse to "participate". So I just suck it up and don't say anything. It hurts bad enough that I want to cry sometimes... but gotta get the spermies up there somehow!! IUI isn't an option yet.. gotta talk DH into it!

For me, I think it hurts because my cervix is lower during that time of the month. I tell DH that it's hurting and he tries to be gentile, but still it brings me to tears sometimes as well. If he is behind me, it doesn't hurt as much.

It hurts me too. You're definitely not alone. We did IUI on Thursday and Friday and then on Saturday wanted to have intercourse to give ourselves an extra chance. It hurt more than usual, probably because of the drugs, and we had to do it with me on my side and DH behind me.

It hurts twice as bad that way... I think it isnt my cervix that really hurts but my ovaries are usually enlarged and very tender. oh well, @ least when we tell our future children that we went thru hell and back for them.. we can really mean it!!!

aam- u/s today showed that my "cyst" on the right side was much smaller (that was the first thing the u/s tech said!) it was 29mm, today it was 13 mm... it also looks like there was a smaller follicle right beside it, kinda made it look like 1 big follie-but you could see a very definite line in between them, so I might have released 2 eggs! I can handle 2 babies, anything more than that and I am gonna have to get a therapist!! lol

lola keeping my fingers crossed for you! I hope we get lots of bfp this month!!

found this saying on myspace-it is so true it made me cry!

"It's so hard to wait around for something you know might now happen. But its even harder to give up, especially when its EVERYTHING you ever wanted."

Crystal-mommy-- I love the saying, I might have to add to my list of sayings I have been gathering while I am on this journey. I was totally feeling this last night. I asked DH what will happen to us if we can never have our child. That moment in time I was so scared that this can be real and he looked at me in horror and just went back to sleep. We are so scared and upset that this can be a reality. I told him we will never know our product of our love and never have a soul come from us. This is a horrible feeling. SO this saying is very perfect for me.
Great it was ovulation for you and not any other unusual problems. Hey 2 eggs sounds nice, better chances and maybe twins

Lola88--any news? I hope this is it for you.

AFM : I am so excited, nervous and anxious for our RE visit this week.

hello to eveyone else here

Me 39 Dh 44 IVF #1 Failed--only 3 eggs retrieved out of 9 follicles. ET:1-4cell severe fragmentation. Planning for next cycle. VERY DEVASTATED
