My pre-O temps are in the 96's ... usually 96.7 - 96.9 range and my post-O temps are usually 97.3 and above. I am breastfeeding but it's only 1-3 times per day so I don't know that it's really throwing my hormones off too much. I wonder if that had something to do with my short LP two cycles ago ...

My Chart.

LOL CONGRATS!!

Ok quick question... I know I"m not TTA lol but I know you would know the answer.

I had/have a cyst on my left ovary. Last I knew a few weeks before thanksgiving it had already ruptured. I had my IUD taken out because of several other small cysts there as well.

Today... all the signs of impending O... and this most aweful pain multiple times today on left side. (both my kiddos also came from left side...lol got pretty large cysts both times) Is that the cyst or is that O pain? If so multiple times in one day (3) that each time ovulating? OR just it can hurt off an on all day?

LOL the idea of multiple ovulations is a bit scary... haha oh well I guess we'll see.

Mama to a zoo!

Thanks for the input everyone. I never knew that bfing can make your temps lower also. I'm going to stick with this thermometer at least or the rest of this cycle (however long it may be). I don't think it could be hypothyroidism, at least I hope not. I have had my thyroid checked recently, and was told it was in the normal range. Didn't look at the numbers myself, but haven't had any other issues that would indicate a problem.

If the cyst already ruptured, I doubt that's what caused the pain you felt today. That usually hurts when the cyst is very large and when it ruptures. I'm always curious what the big deal is about a cyst on the ovary. We're supposed to have cysts on our ovaries after O. It's called a corpus luteum cyst and it's what caused the body to produce progesterone in case of a pregnancy. I don't know how a doc can tell just from looking whether something is a CL cyst or something else.

Anyway, whenever I've had what I thought was O pain (you can only know in retrospect), I felt it off and on for a day or two. It was never a one shot deal for me. I think each person can feel something slightly different. I also think that it can also be different for the same person during different cycles. I don't think that indicates releasing more than one egg. It's actually rather rare to release more than one egg in one cycle.

Ok, I guess I'll come out of lurkdom and stick my toe into the CTA waters

I'm still very new at this and have a lot of learning to do. I'm reading garden of fertility and I'm feeling very empowered! I'm still trying to figure out FF so I'm charting on paper and online.

My mom used to teach NFP classes and I remember looking at her posters. I remember thinking the poly wogs were so cute Anyway, she never really taught me anything (about NFP) about it so I'm just now figuring it all out.

I have always been terrified to give up control of my body to birth control. I just couldn't trust it to keep me from getting pregnant. I feel SO much better now that I'm charting!

It's so helpful reading everyone's comments. I'm sure I'll have questions but for now I'll just keep listening and learning from all of you

This was my interpretation. I know when I feel it, it's sharp, and in a very defined spot, but short-- literally only hurts for a second or two, and then I might not feel it for 10 minutes, or an hour, etc. I used to describe it as a being poked with a rusty coat hanger-- it stings, and hurts, and is both sharp and dull aching all at the same time. It causes me to kind of catch my breath, but then by the time you've even processed it, you feel better again.

My Ovulation Chart

I have my first crosshairs.

I'm disappointed that I had NO ewcf. I stopped tracking it but it's like a ten minute period of sort of white, lotiony stuff every single day. It doesn't seem to have changed at all. I'll have to watch more closely next cycle.

One time I was driving and got a sharp pain so bad I almost doubled over in my seat. It was gone so fast, though, I hardly had time to process it. That only happened once. My temp shot up the next day so I assume that was O pain. Lately, I've been having sort of dully, achy, cramping for 1-2 days before O. That comes and goes all day long.

tinams8 ~ I don't think you're safe yet. I don't think FF has the right O day. FF is not 100% sure, either, hence the dashed crosshairs. I guess if you get one more temp above 97.4, I'd tentatively put your O day on Monday, cd16. That's ignoring a lot of temps, though, which I don't like doing. Why so many open circle temps? I'm afraid with that many inaccurate temps, you may not be able to definitively pinpoint O at all this cycle and may have to be cautious until shows.

Oh, MW, yay for your DH coming home today!!! Enjoy your time together!!!!

Tinams8: I agree with MW. My first cycle charting, FF gave me crossharis 3 times before I acutally O'd!

Toolip: Welcome! I have added you to the front page.

AFM: CD 46, 5 DPO. My temp is staying kind of low for post O. Went down to 97.7 today. http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/277407 It is really irritating me that I can't know if I'm pregnant yet! Because if I am, well, I'd like to know, so that I can figure out how to tell DH, and if I'm not, well, I'd like to hurry up and get AF (though another week till AF would be ideal) so that I can start my next cycle!

Oh, I didn't catch on to the dashed crosshairs... yeah we are being cautious all month, I don't trust my body yet as it's getting back to normal. I'm shocked I'm even ovulating the way my temps look! I looked up the open circle temps yesterday and it's because I havent been temping at the same time. All the lower, solid temps are from 5:30 am and the open, higher ones are from 6:30 am. Unfortunately, I have to start doing it at 5:30 I guess! Last cycle my temps were way high at the end. over 98. so if they continue to go up I think it won't make much difference that the pre-o temps are +/- .4 degrees.

Have fun with dh!!!

Well, then if you adjusted the temps that were taken an hour later, your CL would be 97.6. That means if tomorrow's temp is above 97.6, your O day would be cd16. You still can't be sure of that because adjusting temps isn't 100% accurate so there's no way to really know where those temps would be. If it were just one or maybe two, I wouldn't worry about it. But, half your pre-O temps would need to be adjusted and that's just too much guessing. Although, looking at your chart, whether you adjust your 5:30 temps up or your 6:30 temps down, your CL would still be 97.6 so maybe that gives it a little more accuracy.

WWC- I sure hope your temp stays high!!! And your BD timing does look awesome!

Discard or not?
My last several temps have been thrown off because DS wakes up hollerin' and I get him settled on the boob before temping. Would y'all discard them or just let FF put them as open circles?

My normal temp is around 96.4 and they've gone as high as 97.5.

MW Yay! Enjoy your DH!

bicyclingbethany - I would personally probably leave them as is and if they seem to pose a problem with seeing O later, worry about it then.

Edit: oh, my chart. Going triphasic again.

BFS: Sore breasts and a triphasic chart? Was that last BD before O protected?

Bicyclingbethany: Your temps could be O...CM doesn't look like it, though. I'd leave them and see what happens.

Tina: The crosshairs look suspicious to me, too. Continue to exercise caution.

AFM: Got my third temp today. My chart. If my LP stays at 11 days or less & AF follows the same pattern as my last few cycles I may just get over AF by our anniversary.

Silly question , what does "AFM" stand for? I've been running it through my head for two days now and haven't come up with something that would be logical.

Forgot to temp this morning, B. had an accident early morning (5ish) and then I slept through the alarm and woke up just in time to hurry and get dressed and get everyone out the door. The "snowstorm" added nearly a half hour onto our normal hour commute. Time to start adjusting to the winter clock again...

Um...it was a condom disaster. But I do always have sore breasts/nipples around and post-O too. And I quite often get a at-least momentarily triphasic-looking chart.

MW - yay for your husband coming home!!!!!!!! Enjoy

Lyterae - AFM (as for myself), don't feel stupid, I can never for the life of me remember what BD actually stands for.......I know what DTD and GIO stand for no problem, but no matter how many times I am told what BD stands for it goes in one ear and out the other I guess!!!!

AFM - 5dpo, it feels sooooo crazy to actually know when I !!

I am anxiously awaiting AF - there were a couple of times my DH was bad and used a condom and/or withdrawal It's all his fault though, I would have been FINE abstaining!

Ugh - life

(I purposely didn't put any time's we DTD into FF because I didn't want the stupid baby happy site telling me I was pregnant for the next week or so!!!)

BFS ~ My temps started to look like they were going triphasic for a bit last cycle. That's why I (and TCOYF) say they aren't really triphasic unless they stay up til at least 18dpo, pg time.

Shannon ~ Poo for on your anniversary.

bicyclingbethany ~ I wouldn't discard any temps yet. I'm with Shannon that it could be O. Some women only get creamy as their most fertile CF sometimes. As a matter of fact, I've been reading about how some women change their diets and take supplements and other things to purposely keep their CF from getting any wetter than creamy. It's supposed to sway your chances more toward having a girl if you get pg.

annie ~ BD stands for baby dancing. It's a ttc term, which is probably why you don't remember it right now. Oh, and I don't think FF says you might be pg until you've gone a day past your normal lp. It does have the pg monitor that will tell you your chances and if you have any possible pg signs but you can hide that.

I'm back! Well not yet but soon enough. Had DD3 at the end of November. I tried posting this over at the Ovusoft forums but no answer yet. I also looked back through the old threads because I know I've mentioned it but couldn't find anything.

Anyone know where the post is or have the settings saved somewhere that sets the TCOYF software to strict? I know the thread on Ovusoft had a couple things changed setting wise that made it geared towards TTA (just because it was more conservative) and I want that back. I don't trust myself enough to not have it.

My cyst was quite large and only reason we found it was a false positive pregnancy test with an IUD and left sided pain... lol they had me in working up for a full ectopic pregnancy. Phew didn't have that... the cyst tho was quite large and they can reseal themself and grow again. Problem is mainly causing torsion or the fallopian tube ... its a twisting (think of a balloon when you put a hole in it and let it go and it flies around in the air)... this sorta happens and can twist your tube / ovary all up cutting off blood supply etc its painful and considered a medical emergency.

Phew on the not multiple O. lol I'd like one more baby not 4 with all the pain I had yesterday. Couldn't temp this AM had to get up super early.. so maybe tomorrow.

A close friend had that problem with a big cyst. I think this was while she was living in Turkey, though it might have been in Oman, now that I think about it. She was basically in debilitating pain. They took her straight back to surgery and ended up removing her ovary. She didn't know what they did until she got ahold of her records and had someone translate them for her. At the time it was an emergency situation and there wasn't a lot of time to work through the language barrier with the doctor. Talk about scary

So, they knew it was a problematic cyst because of it's size and the pain you were having?

I had a functional cyst once. I kept telling the docs it was a cyst but they kept insisting that maybe I was pg. It resolved itself at around 18dpo and I haven't had a problem with that again. I saw it on the u/s, though, and it looked just like a corpus luteum cyst. The only reason I knew it was a functional cyst was because I was way past my lp and was not pg.

My mother had a hysterectomy due to many painful ovarian cysts. Does anyone know what are some causes of this? I feel like I know so many so many women with this problem!

AFM- Temp back down to 96.4, so I'll probably discard my high temps later on. I've always had VERY obvious EWCF for several days around ovulation but BFing could change this....maybe? All I know is that my ovaries are trying their hardest but just can't- quite- make it.
