I have a question.
I took 2 temps because when I was awoken the first time it had been exactly 3 hrs and sometimes I don't get another 3 hr stretch. Then I took it again when I woke up after 2hrs and 40min. My normal take time is around 5:30.
Time 1- 2:30 97.3
Time 2- 6:30 97.9
Which temp do I use? I am thinking the first one as it was a full 3 hrs and the temp is more consistent with what it typically is at this point in my cycle.

Taking 2 temps always confuses me.

I'd go with the 2nd one because it's closer to your normal wake up time.

I think it's much more important to go with the temp closer to your regular time.

Were you up at around at all between the temps? Or were you just awake in bed?

Nope. But yay! 36.8 today.

ETA: I entered today's temp in and FF has gone back to giving me dotted crosshairs on Day 16. Sigh.

so go with the 2nd even though it is less than 3 hrs?
I was not up and around at all but moved to a different bed at 2:30 so different room temp different covers, etc. I was up several times until about 4 and then awake about 6:30. No clock in the room.
Since it is so early in my chart it really doesn't matter but I like it when my chart looks pretty

Personally, I go with whatever the "worst" temp is -- the one that is least likely to make me look like a temp shift when I don't really have one. Then if I want to shave it at the end of the month so it looks pretty, I can, but I'd rather wait the extra day midcycle rather than worry.

Subbing. I'm on CD23. I had a m/c. So, assuming I don't get pg this cycle, I'm planning to start CTA when AF arrives.

Ah, I figured out why FF won't give me solid crosshairs. It's because I have EW after the O date it picked.

So O for CD23 looks right to me, but I am admittedly new to temping. Agree?

Yup, I do this too. Unless one is just completely wacky and it's obvious which is correct.

Safe?

This last temp is early -- but I hate the open circles. . . The CL is SO LOW, usually my post O temps are over 97. Do you think that this is trustworthy as as a shift?

I've had sort of a proto-yeast infection this month and have had very little discernible CM. . . Definitely a wet sensation right around where the crosshairs ended up, although not really EW.
THANKS!

Beth: I don't see open circles. Did you go back and adjust temps? Your shift looks very clear and solid, but if you're concerned (and I think you're right to be w/less than normal CM) you can always wait for 1-2 more days of dry up and watch what your temps do on those days.

I didn't change any temps, just entered the last one as taken at the right time even though it was really 2 hours early.

i think I'll wait for another temp -- better to wait a day than waste the last week worrying!
BTW, thanks for checking this thread MM, even though you're sort of graduated

With your shift, I think you need at least 3 and maybe 4 days of drying up past Peak Day, which I thought was CD 24, but now I only see CM on CD 23? But that's for NFP rules and I'm pretty sure FAM rules would way you're ok now even if Peak Day wasn't until CD 24.

I use ff and can't figure out why it is giving me so many open circles this cycle. I don't temp at the same time every morning but my temps aren't that far apart. I set the default temp for 5am hoping that would help. It didn't change any of the circles. Doesn't it give a 30min window on either side? I have temps at 5:15, 5:30, 4:30 and 4:45 and it is still giving me open circles. Here'smy chart

started today I've been anxious and excited to join you ladies since I decided I wanted to move on with my life right now. After having my miscarriage, I thought I wanted another baby, but quickly realized now is not the time. This will be my first time charting. I'm going to pick up a bbt today.

So I spotted on Tuesday and there was nothing yesterday then today started. I'm counting today as CD1 - does that sound right?

I believe FF only allows a 30 minute window, which means 15 minutes before or after your default time. If you don't set a default time, it will calculate your default time and give you a 30 minute window around that. I think most of us consider 30 minutes either way to be acceptable though.

I don't give FF my times, therefore it doesn't worry about what time I temp. So, if the open circles bother you, just don't put the temp time in there.

Hello Ladies
I have been lurking for awhile and half way charting (like paying a lot of attention, noting when I ovulate but not temping or writing anything down) but I've decided to go for a more accurate picture of my cycle and ACTUALLY chart from now on. So I've been waiting and waiting for my period to start (it was due the fifteenth) and was planning on starting my chart then. Thus far, I am still waiting. Is starting a chart in the middle of a cycle just nonsense? Now I'm confused and I'm hoping I'm not pregnant. Do you ladies know if I could tell by temping even though I don't have anything to compare it to?

I haven't been on in a few weeks and I wonder if I missed anything interesting here but no time to go thru it all. I'm moving to PA tomorrow night, hoping that doesn't mess up my temps too much cuz I should get a temp rise in a few days. I've never had such a far move accompanied by dramatic changes in life and schedule, so I'm afraid I'll be all off.

I'm not familiar with how many tenths your shift needs to be with celsius. However, I think you'd have an easier time interpreting your charts if you record your temps to the nearest tenth. And I don't think things look great for confirming O...only one day of fertile CM and a very low CL in relation to the temps on your last chart, not to mention the very small shift...it all says "caution" to me! Are you using a basal therm & temping near the same time each morning? Your last chart looks very rocky. Anov charts can just be rocky, but still...
