I'm starting am temps/ charting again tomorrow but wondering how to do it with my life these days. Most mornings between kids coming in to visit and my own restless early morning sleep I"m mostly just dozing from 4:30 or so on, until I get up around 6:30 or 7. Some days I have to get up to put kids back in their beds or go to the bathroom. So just wondering at what point I take my temp? The first point that I realize I'm not sleeping anymore? Or just if I get out of bed? Or wait until I get up for the day?

I like to get up at 7:30 but my DD is usually up the before that so I'll take my temp at whatever time I go to put her back to bed (6:45-7:00'ish). Then I'll go back to bed and when I get up at 7:30 I take it again (and record that temp). Almost every time it is the same as if I hadn't woken up (adjusted for the time change). So if it's 97.2 at 7:00 it's 97.3 at 7:30 even though I was up walking around for a little bit.

So I don't worry about it. In general I think you want to stay within a hr of your usual waking time for recording the temp (adjusting for each 1/2 hr difference). I use Ovusoft software so it adjusts for me.

I hope this made sense.

i usually start waking up around 4 so i always take my temp, as you said, as soon as i realize i'm awake. this has worked well for me provided i have gotten at least three hours of solid sleep. hope that helps.
