After much research, and the fact that I can't seem to remember to take a pill at the same time every day to save my life, I decided to get the Mirena IUD at my 6 week PP appointment in early July. It just seemed like the best option: DH and I know we don't want to TTC #2 for at least 2 years, we have amazing insurance that covered it 100%, I'm breastfeeding but wanted hormonal BC, I have friends that have it and love it, etc. etc.

I know that spotting is common, and the info pamphlet says irregular bleeding is common for 3-6 months, but this constant spotting IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!! I have either had to wear a pad/panty liner daily since giving birth on May 30 (except for one week just before my 6 week checkup when the lochia stopped).

I promised DH I'd give it until 6 months (January), and if the spotting/bleeding hadn't stopped by then I'd get it removed. If that happens, my plan is to practice FAM and make DH wear a condom/withdraw until my charts make sense.

I just have 2 questions for you lovely ladies:

1. If your spotting lasted this long (nearly 4 months and counting), did it go away before 6 months? Did it ever stop?
2. If you practice FAM, can you really count on it when you're breastfeeding/before your cycles return? I have one friend IRL that practiced FAM to prevent pregnancy, and ended up with 2 "oops" babies, so it just makes me nervous.
