I did. And we used withdrawal successfully without worrying about timing for about a year prior.

Are you all talking about successful withdrawal?

We've used it for 10 years with no unwanted pregnancies...

In love with Dh since 1998. We created Ds (7.1.03), Dd (10.16.06) and Dd (3.16.09).

If the man is in tune with his body it is very effective. Best of luck for whichever way you're wishing it to go. :) I've used it for seven years with my DH and we've never gotten pregnant on accident. With my first three babies we got pregnant the first time we "tried" So we're very comfortable with the withdrawal method.

FWIW my DP is supremely in tune with his body and response. I still got pregnant. It happens. I've also become pregnant with Mirena in place despite it being even more highly effective. The pill without missing a dose. Perfect condom use. Etcetera. It happens.

You got pregnant on accident with every form of birth control using it perfectly each time? Or is that not what you're saying. If so, that's incredible odds defying baby making. lol!

DH and I sucessfully used withdrawl for 7 years. DD is  months and my cycle is super spotty, so right now we are using withdrawl 100% of the time. When my period is back to normal, we will go bavck to using withdrawl during the unsafe times.

No, I haven't been on every form of birth control. I've also been pregnant more than the few times mentioned.

i've never gotten pregnant using withdrawl during my fertile period.  from what i read in 'taking charge of your fertility' withdrawl is much less effective if the man has last ejaculated within 24 hours, so i only use withdrawl if he hasnt.

Yeah I have gotten pregnant twice using withdrawal/NFP method-- both ended in m/c but it can happen-- however its safe to say the last time I got pregnant was 7 years ago and my DH and I have been safely using that method for 6 years with no pregnancies so far.

wow i am amazed this method has worked so well for some people. amazed!! i think if this is your primary prevention method, you just need to have the attitude that if you get pregnant, it's ok. we ended up with a suprise baby and now are so happy it happened that way.

I have used the withdrawal method for about 10 years with no pregnancies, and without charting, so not sure how often it happens during or around ovulation.

-- I haven't tried to get pregnant yet, though, so I'm not sure how much is related to my fertility rather than his accuracy  :)

We've concieved twice in one year using withdrawl.  The first was an early loss and we were pregnant again immediately after (I think that I must have ovulated 8-9 days later).  I would still use the method if we were open to #5 but at this point we are done and planning a vascetomy.  If you are going to use it, I'd recommend condoms on iffy days if you really do not want to have a baby..

I think this is good advice!  I am totally okay with having an oops baby (well, there would be drawbacks, but I would embrace it) so I feel comfortable using this method of BC.  I have heard that it becomes less effective after you've had one pregnancy....

Yes, when we did it incorrectly! He went back in after pulling out when we were holding each other afterwards and that's all it took!

Yep, it's how I have my daughter... we had also been drinking so his withdrawel was probably not so well timed. I have to say that after we were pregnant, he admitted that having to pull out all the time was ruining sex for him... It was effective for about a year and half though, when we avoided it or used a condom around ovulation. Then we were drunk, and I was ovulating and there you go...

Supposedly if the man still has to "finish himself" afterwards, it's just as effective as other methods of barrier BC. Also, if you have sex 2 times in a row, he needs to pee in between.

**edited to clarify barrier rather than hormonal
